He sighed, running a hand through his hair, "I'm part demon, it's in my nature, what do you expect."

Ash groaned when he heard her yelp, "I swerve your so incompetent, what the fuc-" he cut himself off when he turned to face her, seeing the huge looming beast infront of him.

Ash was frozen in place, too distracted by the beast to notice anything else. It's claws alone looked lethal. One swipe of the razor like nails would be enough to end his human life, then what?

Ash glanced around, trying to configure a plan. The beast had other ideas though and lashed it's razor like fingernails at him. Ash dodged them, it's new target a fully grown maple tree. With that one lazy swipe the tree was slashed down. He cursed under his breath, it looked like fleeing was going to be the only option.

Ash quickly got up from the ground. His mind was on a way to loose the monster somehow. He took off at a sprint though the most heavily wooded part of the forest.

The beast followed anyway, chopping down trees in its wake. It hadn't slowed it down at all much to Ash's dissapointment. "we have to split up." he yelled over his shoulder to Savannah.
"there's a better chance of at least one of us making it that way."

Ash ran in the opposite direction.
However the big monster split in half, one half going after her, the other after him. Ash cursed under his breath, so much for that plan.

Ash continued to run until he was trapped by a solid rock wall. he glanced around and saw a cave. it was his only option.

He went inside and the monster started banging against the top, too big to fit through the opening.

Rocks fell on top of Ash, pinning him to the ground. He tried to move a boulder of a rock from his legs but it was too heavy and painfull. A shrill whistle sounded and the monster stopped attacking and sat as still as a statue. Through the fog, Ash could see the dark, tall siluette of someone coming closer. Something about it seemed familiar, but what?

Ash didn't question how to rocks were lifted off him, instead he stood up, wincing slightly as he put pressure on his right leg. He didn't like this, not one bit. He checked his belt, making sure the knife he had was still there and quickly accessable. There was a quick puff of smoke beside him and someone appeared. Ash had to hold onto the wall to keep himself from collapsing out of shock when he saw who it was. ".....Dad?" Ash questioned, staring at the deadly looking dagger that was in the man's hands.

The man, Ash's father, smirked. "What's the matter Ash, no hug for your dear old father?" he sighed, "you have always been an ungrateful son."
Ash frowned, "What's going on, I told you I'd retrieve the harpy and I will, I just got a little side tracked is all."
"oh, poor clueless Ash, this is not about the harpy at all you stupid boy. It was never about the harpy. I couldn't care less about that damn thing, don't you think I could find a hundred other just to take its place." He shined the blade of the dagger with the sleeve of his coat. "The issue here, my dear boy, is that you are still breathing." He sighed, "I guess that just goes to show you, never send a pack of shifters to do the job of a demon lord."

"what could you possibly have to gain from this?" Ash questioned, pulling out his knife.
His father chuckled and started towards him, "plenty my dear boy, plenty."

Just before it reached him, the man thrust out a hand behind him, catching the fire ball and extinguishing it, all the while never taking his eyes off Ash. "you can tell your little friend to come out now." He said

It was this moment Ash picked to spring, probably not the best moment, but he didn't have much of a choice. He tackled his father to the ground, trying to get him in a compromiseable condition.
