I'm confused. There is a VT 2017 group that was recently started (12/05) and now it appears that this group (which was used for 2016) is now being used for the 2017 challenge. WHICH one is being used? Too many links to deal with makes for sour apples among the players. HELP!

There's no official VT Challenge Goodreads group. There was no reason this group couldn't continue to be used for VT challenges, so I added things for the new challenge. A benefit to using the same group is that we already have book ideas for many of the categories from discussion threads and checklists. A new group will duplicate much of that info, and if a participant in the 2017 challenge wants to be able to access the info from the 2016 challenge, he will have to keep membership in the old group and will have an extra group to search. That's a hassle and time waster. The first member to notice and post that Tim Challies had posted his new challenge mentioned getting a new group for the challenge, so someone else added one. I guess neither of those people thought to ask the moderator of this group to post a new tracker for the new challenge.
thanks - I can remove myself from the other group and use this one just as easily. The start date is 12/08 here, correct? The other group had 12/05.
because some are still doing 2016, it might best to move start date to jan 1, 2017, but then some won't get an early start.

There may be some people who will be new to a VT challenge and will want to get started early. Also, some people finished their 2016 challenge and want to move on to the new one.
I won't put on it any books that I finish before Jan 1 since it's the 2017 challenge. But I tend to be a stickler -- for myself; it doesn't bother me if others choose to do it differently.
