I think he's a little old for her...which wouldn't be that bad once she's in her 20's but right now seems kinda weird. Maybe he'll treat her more like a little sister when he's cured? I'm sure they'll find a cure! If not in this book then in one of the later ones. (hide spoiler)]

I pictured Tanu as pretty similar to that since they said he was Samoan, but I've never met anyone who descends from Samoa so I've only stereotypes to draw from!

Ah right. Yeah he's a typical Samoan, but I didn't picture him like that haha. We have a lot of Polynesians here in New Zealand.

I'm 29% through now, so at the end of Chapter 7 I'll read your update Nicole. I'm going to get to the end of Chapter 8 this time, and then stop reading until I get another update.

It's so frustrating because all of these buddy reads are in different groups, so I can't get extra points for them in the YA BR group.

(view spoiler)[ I'm with you on Coulter, Ang. He seems a bit shady to me. But he does know some useful stuff! I don't like that he's sexist, but I do like that the author wrote the character to be a true representation of reality. There are many older gentlemen I know who have the same outlook. It was just how they were raised.

I'm loving this series too! It's so imaginative, clever, and I like the writing. It's written for a younger audience but still engaging for adults

I love how the chapters usually end with some kind of clever quip, usually by Seth, although chapter 9's was (view spoiler)[the Sphinx and it made me giggle to think of his advice for Seth. (hide spoiler)]

I liked how (view spoiler)[the Sphinx tailored his approach to each child. Kendra needed confidence, but Seth had too much.

Maybe we'll find out later a secret of how the SES knew about her ability, or maybe it was as the Sphinx said--just an educated guess on their part.

I'm interested in how they'll take out the demon before it eats Seth. Seth is always getting himself into trouble :-P LOL
