A suspenseful whodunit, where not all the suspects are human.
Recently graduated and newly hired Ruger-Phillips employee, Dr. Sam “Doc” Price is excited to be starting his new assignment. He will be assessing training developed for a team. It is, however, a team like no other, because only one of the team members is human; the other is one of the most intelligent and lethal systems ever built by man – the Joint Aerial Combat Capability or JACC. Loaded with the latest in detection and threat assessment technology, JACC is a silent, deadly hunter in the sky. Doc discovers, however, that JACC may not be the only killer on the remote, Nevada test range where he now finds himself. Soon, he is involved in a cat and mouse game with an unknown adversary. In this fight for his life and the lives of his friends, Doc asks himself, how do you match wits with the mind in the clouds, when you are not sure if you are facing the cold, exact logic of machine intelligence or the coldblooded urges of a human murderer?

After an inner city family is shot and killed by a young boy, the police commence a search for the person who supplied the gun to the boy. Milo Krantz is one of the first to be arrested. As a rent collector for a notorious slumlord, he is one of the most despised people in the neighborhood. However, when he later appears in court, Milo does an abrupt about-face: he not only confesses to the crime, he refuses to say anything in his own defense.
This sudden change in attitude baffles Gunther Mulvaney, the detective who arrested Milo. Suspicious that Milo is taking the fall for someone else, a stubborn Gunther continues his investigation, which eventually intersects with one being conducted by a private investigator secretly hired to explore the mysterious circumstances surrounding the hospitalization five years earlier of the judge in Milo’s case. Blurb: In the spring of 2008, the Drug Enforcement Agency executed Operation Sudden Fall, resulting in one of the largest collegiate drug busts in U.S. history. Montezuma Kings is the first of a two-part story fictionally inspired by those events.
Best friends since childhood and now business partners, Mack and Eddie are known for throwing the hottest underground raves in San Diego. But what most people don’t know is that the secret rave parties are just a front for their more illicit business: selling mass quantities of cocaine. Using fraternities at the local universities as built-in distribution networks, they’ve built quite the empire. And business is booming. They own a luxurious home in the hills of La Jolla, drive expensive sports cars, and receive the VIP treatment at the most exclusive clubs and restaurants in the city. Simply put, they’re living the life any college student dreams of living. But as Eddie nears his graduation, he begins to second-guess his career path.
Alexander Alston was once the golden boy of the Drug Enforcement Agency, but after making one fatal mistake on a case two decades ago, his career fell to shambles. He’s always believed he’d eventually return to his former glory, but as the years have worn on, and his role at the agency has diminished, he’s begun to lose hope he’ll ever get the chance to make his glorious comeback. Then, one morning when he’s on the brink of retirement, he receives an anonymous letter that will change his life.

Hello! I'm looking for readers interested in reviewing my second novel, The Lover's Portrait: An Art Mystery, to be published on June 24, 2016. It is now available as eBook pre-order via Amazon, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and Apple iBookstore.
I still have four copies available (a PDF version of the *almost* final manuscript) and am hoping to find readers willing to post reviews within a week of publication - or earlier!
Here's a synopsis:
When a homosexual Dutch art dealer hides the stock from his gallery – rather than turn it over to his Nazi blackmailer – he pays with his life, leaving a treasure trove of modern masterpieces buried somewhere in Amsterdam, presumably lost forever. That is, until American art history student Zelda Richardson sticks her nose in.
After studying for a year in the Netherlands, Zelda scores an internship at the prestigious Amsterdam Museum, where she works on an exhibition of paintings and sculptures once stolen by the Nazis, lying unclaimed in Dutch museum depots almost seventy years later. When two women claim the same portrait of a young girl entitled Irises, Zelda is tasked with investigating the painting’s history and soon finds evidence that one of the two women must be lying about her past. Before she can figure out which one it is and why, Zelda learns about the Dutch art dealer’s concealed collection. And that Irises is the key to finding it all.
Her discoveries make her a target of someone willing to steal – and even kill – to find the missing paintings. As the list of suspects grows, Zelda realizes she has to track down the lost collection and unmask a killer if she wants to survive.

I'd greatly appreciate an honest review for my book Damnatio Memoriae, the first in a trilogy of psychological thrillers.
Damnatio Memoriae focuses on Enim Lund, a seventeen-year-old boy whose only goal is to finish his last year of school and forget the tragedy involving his mother the Christmas beforehand – a feat that should be easy given that he attends Bickerby Academy, an all-boys boarding school on a remote island off the coast of Maine.
His plans are thwarted when a teacher vanishes without explanation and a local girl’s body washes up on shore. With all signs pointing to one of Bickerby’s students, Enim’s best friend Jack Hadler convinces him to investigate the crime.
As Jack becomes more and more obsessed with finding the killer, Enim finds himself consumed by his own responsibility in the accident that befell his mother, and neither can seem to find a way to acquit himself for the crime. It soon becomes clear that there are worse things than not solving the crime: it’s doing so but having no one believe you.

Hello all! After several months of lurking and writing, I have finished an initial draft of Thou Shalt Not Kilt, my first mystery novel. I am hoping to locate a few willing beta readers, and our group would seem an ideal place to search.
The quick facts:
• It's a mystery novel, falling somewhere squarely between a cozy and a traditional whodunnit
• The protagonist is a Scottish genealogist and historian living in North Carolina (giving a heavy Scottish flavor to the story)
• The draft is coming in just under 60,000 words

Thou Shalt Not Kilt
When Stuart MacUspaig announced he was selling the family estate, closing the historic Roan Island Highland Games and divorcing his soon-to-be ex-wife, it was clear he needed a change. An antique dirk in his back was more change than bargained for. As amateur sleuth and Scottish historian Elle Cunningham Mackay investigates the death of her one-time lover, she risks becoming collateral damage in the extinction of Clan MacUspaig.

More Than A Few Terrors & Many More Laughs!
June 4, 2018
Format: Kindle Edition
This macabre but humorous collection of 3 short horror stories by Alan Zacher—two of which are associated with the Halloween and Christmas holidays—is entertaining and fun to read. All told in the first-person, each story spills the details of how an unusual series of circumstances can change one’s perspective on life and reality forever.
“Murder, Vampires and Leprechauns” contains adult language and themes that I would not advise for the under 17 crowd, but those of us who are well into our later years will get a kick out of the thoughts and feelings—as well as the aches and pains—expressed by Zacher’s “every-man”, Tom Mayors.
Although the three stories are a trifle disjointed in their presentation within this collection—in that there is no smooth flow to tie each story together, and one can’t really tell in what part of Mayors’ life these events occur in—common threads run throughout the plot lines; middle-aged men working at unfulfilling jobs, coping with a family member who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and/or dementia, bullying, mad and murderous individuals, and overcoming one’s trials and tribulations in order to live a simpler but happier life.
Zacher’s characters may present themselves as sometimes pitiable and rough around the edges, but one can’t help but cheer for them to get in there, take one for the team, and—in their own quirky ways—win at the Game of Life… Whether they succeed or not is simply a matter of perspective but the adventures they endure are all in good fun.
All in all, “Murder, Vampires and Leprechauns” is a good day-long or weekend read that supplies more than a few terrors and many more laughs.

And they thought prison was hell…
When a woman’s disappearance ticks off all the same boxes as two unsolved murders, Miami homicide detective Kelly Marsh is convinced there’s about to be a third. If she’s right and the killer sticks to their previous MO, she only has three days before Jenna Kelter’s decapitated head will show up somewhere in the city. With no time to waste, Kelly reaches out to the one person she knows can help: her former mentor and family friend Jack Harper, who just happens to lead a team with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit.
BAU special agent and profiler Brandon Fisher easily sees the similarities between Detective Marsh’s missing person case and the two cold cases: all three victims served time for DUI vehicular homicide and disappeared three days after being released from prison. But is that enough to assume Kelter has been abducted by a serial killer? Brandon’s not so sure and fears his boss may have let his personal connection to Marsh cloud his judgment. Surely there isn’t any other explanation for why they jumped into an investigation less than twenty-four hours after Kelter was reported missing. Then again, maybe Brandon is letting his own differences with the detective affect his perspective. He’ll need to move past it, though—and quickly.
After all, this killer has evaded capture for the past six years, and they may be looking at a lot more victims than originally suspected. This serial killer is calling the shots and pulling them into a macabre game of cat and mouse. While the team has no choice but to play, if they don’t make the right moves, one of them may not make it out of Miami alive.

Excerpts from reviewers of The Conspiracy on Goodreads:
Elya El S wrote
I didn't know much about the history of the Middle East and the superpowers influence in the ever boiling region until I read The Conspiracy. What makes this book an exceptional one is that a big part of history is presented while the reader is enjoying the page-turning of a breathtaking action packed novel.
Miroslav wrote:
Wasn't sure when I picked it up however my doubts quickly evaporated. A definite page turner. A diabolic ingenious plot with intimate knowledge of background and landscape of events. If enacted, it would definitely put the super powers in a tight spot.
Maroun Khoury wrote:
Quite the page turner, I couldn't lay it down! The author has an astute knowledge of international geopolitics and takes us inside a web of intrigue, terrorism, and the hidden mechanisms of politics. A thriller in its best form.

In his winning debut novel—which takes its title from a variety of rose—Dowling plunges us into Australia's seedy racetrack underworld and the life of Steele Hill, an amiable young dropout who lives by the dole and his wits.
Through adept plotting and juggling of time, Dowling gradually reveals Steele's immersion in daffy intrigues that create suspicions in crusty cops Frank Mooney and Bill Schmidt.
Willing to fight injustice, Steele uses his street smarts to survive as the complications and bodies mount up, and he and a reclusive teen mathematical genius plot to drug a racehorse at the behest of an expatriate Russian trainer.
While the narrative is at times confusing, readers will appreciate the author's ability to render colorful characters and understated witty prose.

Murder, Vampires and Leprechauns is a novel of three short stories of suspense, action and murder—and, yes, all of them have much humor. In Burgermen, Tom Mayors—a fifty-six-year-old man who still lives at home and hates work of any kind—unbeknownst to his mother quits yet another job, a clerk in a grocery-store. The manager is so angry with him for quitting without giving notice that he threatens to kill him and begins stalking him by phone every night. In the second story, Damn Leprechauns, Tom—because of his mother’s constant pestering—has joined the detective agency of cranky, retired, Homicide Detective James Hurts. They take a case of helping a young man and woman in trouble, only to find out that this young couple is in trouble because they have stolen the pot of gold from some leprechauns. Because of Tom and Jim’s own greed and wanting to keep the gold, the leprechauns kidnap Tom’s mother, Lill. Tom and Jim must come up with a sharp plan to rescue Tom’s mother. In the third story, Hurts’ Christmas Present, Tom has quit the agency and Hurts is on his own. It’s a few days before Christmas, and Hurts takes the case of very precocious, stubborn eleven-year-old girl, Amanda, whose Mother has been arrested for stealing $20,000.00 from her place of employment. During the investigation, Hurts discovers that the mother was framed by three of the six board-members of the company. All the board-members are vampires. Hurts must do battle with the three board-members to free Amanda’s mother from jail.

Trojan
Trojan is now available for free to Amazon Kindle Unlimited Users. I’m seeking to entertain readers to the point where they provide feedback and reviews of my work.
Trojan is a techno mystery thriller I penned that’s based on a “US nuclear armament takedown what if scenario” I envisioned while serving in the US Navy.
Below are the link, description, and sample reviews of my book
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C3LWO20
Description:
What if there was an Enemy within your government hiding in plain sight?
For Victor Walker, Sr. Manager of White House Nuclear Armament Systems, neither an unexpected call to ascertain whether someone had breached the VP’s laptop, nor the fact that the VP lay bound, mutilated, and slain in his master bedroom was cause enough to set his feet on the path he now reluctantly had to take.
The sudden meltdown of America’s nuclear armament and defense systems – Star Wars, Air Force One, Doomsday Briefcase, and Guidance Systems – left his beloved country exposed to a brutal attack from an unknown enemy.
With the VP dead and America’s defense capabilities rendered useless, his assertion that a mole buried deep in government facilitated the breach fell on doubtful and accusatory ears, forcing him to go on the run to clear his name.
With the truth now in plain sight and with him holding the key to resolve the crisis, the last thing he fathomed was that there are those in government who don’t want him to do it.
He must now act and do things on American soil to people he once trusted and knew, things he once believed unthinkable, all in the name of loyalty, justice, and preservation of the American way.
“Victor, who is comparable to an extremely patriotic Jason Bourne, is an intriguing hero.” - Clarion Review
“Fans of the genre will be delighted with the book's well-crafted characters, excellent pacing, and plot.” - Publisher’s Weekly
Thanks in advance and respectfully,
David

Looking for Reviews
I have a new book out. I had to write 9/11 Remembered, in response to my belief that large portions of our society have forgotten how are heroic first responders performed on that horrific day. All proceeds are going to the Sgt. Mike Curtin NYPD/USMC 3256 Foundation. Mike was a Marine combat vet, Emergency Service Unit Sergeant, who died on 9/11, leaving his USMC wife and three young daughters without a husband and father.
www.3256foundation.org
I’ve included snap shots (below) of the stories of three NYPD friends,(two fellow NYPD Football Alumni) who against all odds, survived that day. Blown off their feet as each tower falls, they never quit, they go back again, and again, trying to find survivors. I make the point of stating of those who died, “If any of these heroes were alive today, and took to the streets of this city in uniform, they would be treated with the same scorn and abuse that their current bothers and sisters in blue face every day.”
I know that interest is building as the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 approaches. If you could “spread the word” with your membership.we would be most grateful

This is a crime thriller set in Vancouver BC.
Dark Angel: Vancouver
Jake Marshall is a successful thief working in Vancouver, who rescues a woman being beaten by a man. This feeling of rescuing prostitutes is so profound that Jake thinks he has found his true calling in life and begins searching for prostitutes that he can rescue.
Looking at her jewelry in the bedroom, I hear the front door open downstairs. I quickly closed the jewelry box lid, dropped to the floor, and rolled under the bed, pulling my backpack with me.
A pair of red high heels walk by. I say to myself. “I need to find another line of work.” It’s the third time the owner has come home while I am casing a joint. The sweat is beading on my back. I swore to myself that I would never go back to prison again.
I wondered whether she noticed that her security alarm system was off. I hear her dialing her phone, then say, “Did you forget to turn the alarm on when you left the house this morning?” “I found the security alarm off when I got home.” Then I hear, “Ok, I will call the police immediately.”
I sweat harder.

In Blood Red Deceit, author Steve Rush masterfully weaves a gripping narrative around the investigation into the murder of Pastor Phillip Robles. As protagonist Ridge Warner delves into the complexities of the case, readers are drawn into a web of deceit, intrigue, and unanswered questions.
Rush artfully crafts a tale filled with suspense and mystery, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The cast of characters, including Phillip's wife Patsy, church secretary Suzette Faraday, and police officer Reid Penbrook, are intricately developed, each with their own motives and secrets.
What sets Blood Red Deceit apart is its ability to keep readers guessing until the very end. With twists and turns at every corner, Rush expertly navigates through a maze of clues and red herrings, leaving readers eagerly turning pages in search of the truth. It's indeed a box of intense suspense from start to finish.
One of the most compelling aspects of the book is its exploration of themes such as betrayal, redemption, and the complexity of human nature. Through Ridge's journey, readers are forced to confront their own preconceptions and biases, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of the characters and their motivations.
With its intricate plot, well-developed characters, and unexpected twists, it's a book that will keep you guessing until the very end. Rush has crafted a true page-turner that will leave readers eagerly awaiting his next installment. It is exceptionally well edited and error-free. There is possibly no criticism for this book except that it has the ability to keep readers glued to their reading devices longer than anticipated. This book definitely deserves a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.
Overall, Blood Red Deceit is a must-read for fans of mystery and suspense. The book contains some gruesome violent scenes; thus, it is not suitable for underage readers or people uncomfortable with violence.

I have recently written my debut crime novel "Same Script as Before" and am interested in getting feedback. The blurb is below:
Manchester in the nineteen nineties. Sarah Mcneil returns home after losing everything in a recent tragedy. With nothing more to lose, she soon becomes embroiled in one of the city’s top MDMA operations. Delving progressively deeper into the unforgiving criminal underworld, while her life becomes entwined with a charismatic salesman obsessed with a twenty-year-old murder, Sarah faces danger, destruction, and death at every turn. From the warehouses, football terraces, and nightclubs of Manchester, to the clandestine laboratories in Amsterdam and the hedonistic utopia of Ibiza, Same Script as Before is an exploration of obsession, guilt, greed, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Any interest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As a former educator, I started my career teaching English literature for 20 years. Amidst the standard required “classics”, I always added modern authors to the year’s required reading lists. If I were still teaching those classes and students, I would add Michael Springer’s ‘The Flower Bed’ as a required read for the year. Very few novels have all these strengths overlapping at the same time: intricate, surprising plot turns; characters who are not caricatures; a narrative that reaches beyond the book jacket’s message, and some unique surprise … something that the author did differently than anyone else. Michael’s level of detail, his literal juggling of plot twists and turns, his recircling attention on Louis while veering in multiples of other directions … just, just superb. I would choose ‘The Flower Garden’ as required reading just for its demonstration of a writer’s craft."

The Daughter
Bu AR Simmons
Publisher: Acorn Moon Press
ASIN: B00UM9IJMK
Genre: Mystery
On an Ozark summer night, three drunk teenagers drive away from an isolated rural graveyard in an abandoned Mercedes. They’ve found the care while looking for car keys lost in the brush. The inevitable police stop reveals blood in the car—a lot of blood. The car belongs to Shara McGregor, Blue Creek’s “golden girl” whose face adorns the billboard touting the advantages of the local community college.
When Richard Carter digs into Shara’s background, he and the financially strapped Hawthorn County Sheriff’s Department are “aided” by a friend of the girl’s mother, former State Senator Willis Sparkes. The old pol uses his influence and money to aid the county in his pursuit of justice—but is that the only reason that he wants to stay close to the investigation?
As he digs into the case, Richard becomes enthralled with the girl he has never met, seeing in the brilliant Shara McGregor what his own daughter may become. He is not the only one to be enthralled by Shara. A broken-hearted high school sweetheart, a clumsy would-be suitor, a nephew of the sheriff, an over-the-hill redneck, the manager at the minimart where she worked, and who knows how many classmates all wanted to get closer to her.
This is a tale of lust, blackmail, murder, and ultimate revenge.
