Solange | 9 comments Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to the group and kind of new to Goodreads in general. I am a civil trial lawyer in Orange County California. I work with my husband, who is also a lawyer. At night and during vacations, I spend time writing thrillers. I have written three full novels, but have recently learned that the third one called THE BURNING MAN has been picked up for publication by Morgan James Publishing in New York.

Here is the story line:
It is a hot June night in upscale Orange County, California. When young beautiful Consuelo Vargas turns up mutilated and left for dead in a strawberry field, the Irvine Police Department and OC Sheriff call in top FBI Forensic pathologist, Catherine (“Cat”) Powers to help solve what turns out to be a string of murders.

Charged with hunting down a twisted serial killer dubbed the “The Burning Man” as more bodies turn up, Cat embarks on a dangerous game to try to understand and catch him. Her actions will destroy the people she holds most dear. Her decisions will forever change the lives of those she loves.

Little does she know, The Burning Man waits for her, drawing her closer into his web of death, lies and deceit, so that he can take from her the ultimate prize. He waits for her in plain sight forcing her to make a choice no mother should ever have to make.

Taunt with suspense from the first page, this book traces the painfully real struggles of a driven woman torn between her career demands and single motherhood, a family saga involving Cat’s young son and his loss of innocence at the hands of a madman and explores the bond shared by a mother and child as they combat pure evil. Cat knows only that she will do anything to catch this killer and keep those she loves alive. But will it be enough?

If you would like to read an excerpt, or learn more, go to www.solangeritchie.com. Also, if you would like to write a review, let me know at solangeritchie@hotmail.com and I can the novel to read in exchange for an honest review.

The case takes him in search of an old confederate in Portland, where he begins to suspect that the murder of Jesus is connected to a money laundering scheme suspiciously similar to Doc's own. As Doc delves in further, he crosses swords with a scheming matriarch, a bent cop, a femme fatale, and a master criminal. Whoever's at the bottom of this business has already killed and is facing "The Big Bitch," or life in prison. And they're not afraid to kill again.

Shirley Bourrage | 12 comments "The Ebola Flight" is a suspenseful action thriller novella I have written. I am looking for about 20 people who promise to post an honest review of this book on Amazon or goodreads.

At 35,000 feet in the air, the Ebola virus mutates and becomes an airborne strain which causes mayhem and tragedy during an international flight over the Atlantic Ocean.
As the body count mounts, will there be any survivors when the plane lands? Is this a natural mutation of the Ebola virus or is it something more sinister? Take a quick ride while reading this action-packed thriller aboard a claustrophobic plane with narrow seats, sick passengers, and recirculating air.

Please message me if you are interested. Thanks!

The Fourth Rule
By Douglass Seaver
Publisher: Oak Tree Press
Published: December 2014
ISBN: 978-1610091565
ASIN: B00RM3WMX6
Pages: 291
Genre: International Suspense

The Fourth Rule, an international suspense novel, is a fast-paced, literary adrenalin rush! It’s the story of a man’s struggle to keep the secret of his brother’s disappearance from the CIA.

After returning from three years as a Green Beret in Vietnam, Mark Grant vanishes. Twenty-two years later, the CIA sends two private investigators to question Matthew Grant about his brother’s disappearance. Matthew denies knowing anything, but the investigators don’t believe him. For over two decades, he has lived the fourth rule—“tell no secrets”, but now he faces a serious challenge. Jack Straw, a rogue CIA agent, orchestrates a desperate manhunt to find out what happened to Mark, while Matthew races to find out why the CIA is interested in the secret he has kept for half his life. The action escalates as the rogue agent and Matthew struggle for advantage until the agent kidnaps Matthew’s sixteen year old daughter to ransom her for information on Matthew’s brother. One night the two meet halfway across the Brooklyn Bridge (the book cover) to exchange information on where Matthew’s daughter is held and the location of Matthew’s missing brother.

The story reaches a climax when Matthew rescues his kidnapped daughter, kills the rogue agent, and prevents a terrible wrong from the past being repeated. The question of what happened to Mark Grant remains unanswered until the last paragraph in the book, when the secret is revealed to the reader, but not to any of the characters in the book. Thus, Matthew lives up to the fourth rule—“tell no secrets”.

I have a book seeking reviews. It's a mystery with an astrologer as a protagonist and just got a decent review from Kirkus. You don't have to know any astrology to make sense of the story. It's the first book in a series and my 4th novel. If you're interested in reading the book, I would love to hear back from you. Here is the blurb from the back cover:

Four years after her baby is kidnapped from a Miami oceanfront estate, a grieving mother takes desperate action. Enter Morgan Sterling, a fourth generation astrologer who helps lost clients find their way. Teaming up with Daniel Kane, a blundering police detective, the pair track a cold twisted trail where nothing is as it seems, and facts are muddied by rumors and lies. Crisscrossing South Florida, the investigators stir up secrets like a stick stirs snakes. Along the way, the duo reopen old wounds that land them in the pit of their own darkness. "The Aries Appointment" is about a search for meaning and truth on many levels.

Melody Hill is the exciting prequel to the award winning novel "The Gomorrah Principle." This is Duff's story as he goes off to war in Vietnam leaving behind his mother, sister and best friend Brady Nash.

Duff Coleridge has joined the military and heading to the war in Vietnam. With the instincts of a natural warrior the young paratrooper quickly proves himself a more than capable soldier and is recruited into the shadowy world of black-ops. Despite months of jungle fighting, Duff soon finds counter-espionage is an even more dangerous proposition when he is approached by a female South Vietnamese intelligence operative. Are her advances based on true attraction, or are they merely a means of exploitation? Is this beautiful French-Vietnamese woman, as his CIA boss claims, a Vietcong spy? Duff must depend on his natural intuition and instincts to know who is telling the truth. His CIA boss, who seems more rogue than company man, is dealing arms on the black market when he’s not delivering an arbitrary and ruthless justice to the local populace. Duff realizes he must get out before it’s too late, but only then does he discover he is already trapped in a lethal game of cat and mouse.

The Alcatraz Rose
A Lawrence Kingston Mystery
By Anthony Eglin
Publisher: Larkspur House
ISBN: 978-1502707031
ASIN: B00PSOWKAG
Pages: 236
Genre: Mystery

Three intriguing riddles, two in Britain and one in the U.S., are intertwined, eventually coming together in a skillfully constructed and tautly written, 'thinking person's mystery.'

No sooner than a thirteen-year-old child begs Lawrence Kingston to reinvestigate her mother's disappearance--a case still unsolved for eight years--the redoubtable botanist, professor, and sleuth receives news that an English rose, extinct for half a century, has been discovered growing on Alcatraz island, 5,000 miles from its former home.

As Kingston searches for clues to both mysteries he uncovers the murder of an elderly reclusive gentleman whom he suspects of having firsthand knowledge of the rose. Hampered by a fog of duplicity and lies, his investigation nevertheless leads him to a shocking discovery, the last thing he would ever suspect: a link to one of Britain's most notorious crimes from the distant past.

The Alcatraz Rose is a multi-layered adventure that starts with an innocent cry for help, but turns into a treacherous roller coaster ride that ends with lives hanging in the balance--including Lawrence Kingston's.

William Davis | 132 comments I’ve just completed my third novel, THE SHOOTING. To keep the blurb short; a high school shooting masks a more insidious plot. While I’m preparing it for publication, I’d like the reaction of a few readers. So if you'd like to check it out, and might be interested in being a ‘beta’ reader, send me a message. Knowing it’s a big commitment, I’ll simply upload a Word document of the first two chapters plus a plot summary (about 11 double-spaced pages). Then you can decide if you’d like to participate.

Here's information on me and my previous novels:

Then, one morning, Kit arrives at the office early and finds her boss, Senator Langsford, impaled by a stainless steel replica of an Army attack helicopter. Panicked, she pulls the weapon out of his chest and instantly becomes the prime suspect in his murder.

Circumstances back Kit's claim of innocence, but her photograph has gone viral, and the heat won't be off until the killer is found. Well-loved though the senator was, suspects abound. Langsford had begun to vote with his conscience, which meant he was often at odds with his party. Not only had the senator decided to quash the ambitions of a major military contractor, but his likely successor is a congressman he trounced in the last election. Then there's the suspiciously dry-eyed Widow Langsford.

Kit's tabloid infamy horrifies her boyfriend's upper-crust family, and it could destroy her career. However, she and her free-spirited friend Meg have a more pressing reason to play sleuth. The police are clueless in more ways than one, and Kit worries that the next task on the killer's agenda will be to end her life.

Book 1 in the Washington Whodunit series.

From the author of the suspense thriller, VARIED TRAITS, comes the sequel, HEAVY HOUR!

Four teenagers form a bond during a hot Atlanta summer. Ten years later, a tragic event takes place during a swanky Midtown wedding reception. When the police come up empty in the search for a vicious killer, Salem Reid is summoned to investigate by a stripper whom he has recently saved from a murderous group of thugs. Reid can’t say no to a friend in need, so he puts his business on hold while he plunges into the case.

As Reid looks into the victim’s past, the motivation for the brutal murder and the identity of the predator are slowly revealed. But the killer remains elusive. As the story unfolds, a cast of characters emerges—from a beautiful young widow to a bevy of streetwalkers, from young professionals to a mentally challenged boy—all who assist Salem Reid in his search for the killer.

HEAVY HOUR leads us on a journey into an urban underworld of prostitution, pornography, and sexual deviance that author Patrick Brown describes in graphic detail. Following up from the prequel, VARIED TRAITS, we are rocketed into a world where we might be afraid to venture outside…or stay in, as the case may be.

Frank McAdam I've recently self-published (as an ebook on Amazon and B&N) my first attempt at the murder mystery genre. The book is entitled The Dark Veil and was inspired by a lifetime spent reading noir fiction. You can click on the link for a synopsis.

I'm generally pleased with the way the novel came out - I tried hard to keep the reader guessing who did it - but would love to get some feedback from group members. I'll be happy to forward a complimentary copy (pdf, mobi or epub formats) in exchange for an honest review. Send me a message here on Goodreads if interested. Thanks.

Steven Moore Hi, all.
Feedback request: I have a free short story series now on my blog, "Mayhem, Murder, and Music," and was wondering if they're resonating with anyone. They cover a broad variety of crime and mystery topics, and all the stories were motivated by a musical piece.
Review request: I just released Family Affairs, #6 in the "Detectives Chen and Castilblanco Series." A free copy is offered in exchange for an honest review (query me at my website or use Net Galley if you have access). The title is the theme, but this is still a mystery/suspense/thriller novel. Rebecca | 16 comments We are offering an e-book of Proxywar: Book 6 of the Spies Lie Series by DS Kane in exchange for an honest review no later than three weeks after you receive the book. ProxyWar is the sixth book in a fast-paced spy thriller series written by a former operative, and filled with intrigue.

When you’re an international spy, who said dying was easy?

Yigdal-Ben-Levy used to be the Mossad spymaster, but now he’s Israel’s Assistant Foreign Minister in D.C., exiled and long out of the game of spying. Diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer, he’s waiting to die when he stumbles across a Chinese-Russian plot against the United States. Despite opposition from his Prime Minister, Ben-Levy decides to present his suspicions to the UN General Assembly after the President rejects his intel.

Unfortunately, the UN is in New York City, nearly 300 miles away; a journey filled with Russian and Chinese assassination teams, cyber-attacks that threaten US communications, and a violent snowstorm that has closed airports and made the roads treacherous. Ben-Levy still has some operatives he can rely upon, but it’s a threadbare team: Jon Sommers, Cassandra Sashakovich, Avram Shimmel, William Wing, and a few others. Not enough to stop the world war that’s about to happen.

The risk? Monumental. The cost if they don’t succeed? A Chinese takeover of America’s power grid, followed by a military invasion and a division of US land down the Mississippi. With enemies on all sides and the cancer spreading, it will take everything Ben-Levy and his team of spies has to warn the world of the impending war.

Please consider reading and reviewing this fascinating thriller. If you would like to read and review ProxyWar, please email rebeccaberus@gmail.com or leave a message to Rebecca Berus on Goodreads.

The Thundering is the story of psychologist Cathy Morgen, who encounters the most challenging case of her career very early one morning in 1961 at Summerhaven Mental Hospital. Can Joseph be restored to humanity? Cathy has no answers, but she is determined to find them. Not only does she feel compassion for Joseph, but she hopes that treating him will help her overcome her guilt at failing to save a similar young patient. Assisting Cathy is her flighty teenage daughter Suzie, who is entranced by the idea of helping Joseph. Opposing Cathy and her attempts to solve the mystery of the horse-boy are an arrogant psychiatrist; Summerhaven's genial but deceptive director, and Cathy's own husband, Dan, who longs for a conventional marriage.

Attempted escapes, brilliant insights, shocking confessions and unthinkable acts of betrayal all play a role in helping Cathy discover Joseph's traumatic past and heal his broken psyche. She will pay a significant price for his return to the world of humans.

William Davis | 132 comments It's been a while since someone has posted in this category, so maybe it's not too effective. But I'm going to give it a shot.

My third Mike Gage Thriller has just been released. It's entitled
THE SHOOTING and here's what motivated me to write it. On April 20, 1999 two teenage boys killed 13 people and wounded 21 others at Columbine High School. At the time I had three high school age stepchildren. The thought of something like that happening hit everyone in our family hard. Since then, school shootings have become nearly epidemic. Why they are happening percolated in my mind over the years and I wondered about the impact on not only the victims’ families, but those of the perpetrators. Eventually, those thoughts compelled me to write my third Mike Gage Thriller, THE SHOOTING. Though I obviously didn’t plan it this way, it’s almost like reading today’s headlines.

Here’s a summary:

A shooting at an exclusive Florida high school masks an even more insidious plot. When authorities are tight-lipped about the incident’s details, anguished families retain former homicide investigator Mike Gage to find the answers they so desperately seek. Mike knew one of the dead kids, the daughter of a close associate, motivating him even more to discover what happened and why. As Gage digs into the backgrounds of the two shooters and finds that one was the victim of early childhood abuse, an attempt on his own life tells Gage he’s on the right track. That dangerous road eventually leads to a shadily-financed school for boys, behavior-altering drugs, and a mind-warping on-line game that portends youthful terrorism nationwide.

Rather than label it a ‘thriller’, I believe it might be classified more of the mystery/suspense nature. Advance readers have told me it’s ‘hard to put down.’

If you'd be interested in reviewing it, I can send you either the Kindle version or a PDF file. Let me know your interest by e-mailing me at skipwriter@MikeGageNovels.com

Andy Lang (andy-lang) | 7 comments My latest novel, Sleepwalker a psychological thriller / romance / police procedural is due out soon (around the 27th Feb on Amazon and iTunes) and I am seeking early reviews on Amazon.com etc.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

It is an average length read (75 k word/300 pages) and does feature a few spicy moments, though certainly not erotic!!

Deborah Grant is a normal, healthy teenager. A girl standing at a crossroads in her young life, and she has a decision to make:
Allow her loving yet domineering father dictate her future, or.
Strike out on her own, follow her heart and dare to dream?

A long holiday is what she needs, and the Costa del Sol has beckoned. Fuengirola has welcomed the buxom blonde into its sun-drenched embrace.

But the Spanish resort reveals deeply buried desires, desires that she had never dared to dream lived inside her, desires that cause Deborah to rise from her bed in the early hours... and in a trance, she walks.

Disturbing, yet harmless she imagines...
Until the morning that she wakes to a nightmare discovery.
Suddenly, Debbie is terrified to close her eyes!

Sleepwalker, a psychological thriller that will make you wonder just how safe it is to fall asleep!

If you are interested, please message me here, or email me andy.lang.writer@gmail.com. The book is available for kindle, ePUB or as a pdf.

Alan Annand (alan_annand) Hi folks –

I'm currently seeking out fresh reviews for my mystery, SCORPIO RISING, the first installment in my New Age Noir trilogy. Although you can read the synopsis and reviews already on Amazon, here’s the basic story:

Scorpio Rising (New Age Noir, #1) by Alan Annand Criminal profiler Axel Crowe investigates the killing of a New York heiress, and discovers her death is linked to two other murders on the same day: a dot-com millionaire in San Francisco, and the team leader of a CIA counter-terrorist project in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
A finder of wayward people and stolen possessions, the enigmatic Crowe profiles subjects in a distinctly unique manner – using astrology, palmistry and other esoteric techniques.
Facts are gross, but the truth is subtle, Crowe’s guru used to say. And although the truth behind this three-way conspiracy lies buried in the past, Crowe is relentless until he uncovers it.

In exchange for your commitment to review on Amazon/Goodreads, I’ll provide you with your choice of digital formats – EPUB, MOBI or PDF. Please contact me via email at alan.annand@gmail.com to request a copy.
