An historical thriller based in the American Revolution. Young Jonathan E. Lee is falsely accused of heinous war crimes by his treacherous regimental commander! Jonathan is forced to flee the colonies to save his neck from the hangman's noose, fighting his way across a stormy Atlantic and then joining a mercenary army that is deploying to warring Siam, a kingdom that is squirming under the iron-fist of a madman.

Greetings! I am Dr. Leonardo Noto, a former military battalion surgeon. The idea for "The Life of a Colonial Fugitive" was born out of my passion for American military history and my enthusiasm for the sport of muay Thai (Thai boxing). While training in a Thai boxing camp during the days and working on a novel based in the American Revolution during the nights, I noticed that Thai history during the 1780s was as turbulent as the American history of the period. After two years of detailed research, including nearly forty references, "The Life of a Colonial Fugitive" was born. I hope that you enjoy reading my novel as much as I enjoyed writing it!

J.J. Stone (jjstonewrites) | 2 comments Hello, fellow crime readers! I recently published my debut crime fiction novel The Mirror Stage on Amazon, and am so excited to finally be able to share this novel with everyone!

Here is a short description of the novel:
Ada Brandt wants everyone to think she’s normal. A writing professor at a local Seattle college, she personifies the saying “those who can’t, teach” after a few failed attempts at becoming an author led her to the classroom. She owns a chic little house, drives a sporty car, and comes home to her dog after a long day at work. You’d never know she’s the daughter of one of Seattle’s most infamous serial killers — a fact Ada has labored her whole life to bury.

Then the FBI’s BAU team arrives to investigate a recent murder spree and Ada is strong-armed by the BAU’s bull-headed lead agent James Deacon into helping with the investigation. As Ada and the BAU dive deeper into the case, two things become glaringly apparent: this is not a typical murder case, and catching their suspect is only the beginning of an investigation that will alter the lives of everyone involved.

The Mirror Stage

I am looking for anyone interested in reviewing The Mirror Stage. I have a digital copy that I can send to anyone willing to write an Amazon or Goodreads review of the novel. Just message me your email address or email me directly at jjstonewrites@gmail.com!

Frank | 1 comments Hi folks,
ADVANCE REVIEW COPIES for my forthcoming crime-thriller now are now available. Full details via the link, but here's a quick hint:-

A Last Act of Charity

JJ Stoner once killed people: for the military, as a mercenary, for a living. Highly-trained, finely-honed and used hard, Stoner now seeks not to kill as he investigates underworld activities for the intelligence agencies, an entirely deniable operative in sleazy situations. Less the blunt instrument, more the swift stiletto...
A series of brutal, blood-soaked murders look to be right up Stoner’s street. When the investigation spirals in queasy circles, JJ seeks release in blues music and weird sex with treacherous women. An old army comrade, equally lethal, steps out of the shadows. Is he friend or foe? And who are the seductive killing sisters?

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy reading, and are happy to post an online review giving your honest opinion of the book, then simply contact: info@murdermayhemandmore.net and say whether you’d prefer to read CHARITY as a PDF, MOBI or paperback.

Please be advised: this publication is intended for an adult audience. It contains explicit language and scenes of a sexual and violent nature.

Mary | 4 comments I received a free copy of this e-book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

It was the first page that gripped me! I love how it took hold from the beginning. This book kept my interest as the story took you on a suspense ride of two sisters placed in the witness protection program. What I liked was the twists and turns, when I was expecting something else. That is why I started reading suspense novels, so I wouldn't get bored while reading. I also liked that the characters are believable and brought to life. A great debut novel....(loved the cliff hanger and twist at the end). I am awaiting reading more in the sequel to Darkness Follows. If you like suspense thrillers this is a good one.

Rebecca | 16 comments Hi,

We are offering an e-book of Deadly Lies by Chris Patchell in exchange for an honest review. Deadly Lies is a fast-paced thriller that will appeal to fans of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Husband and wife stand on opposite sides of a divide created by lies and rooted in a dark and deadly past…

As a teenager, Jill Shannon fell victim to her stepfather's cruel abuse. Now as an adult, Jill's made it - she has a successful career and a solid, if not static, marriage to Detective Alex Shannon. Together they live out what seems to be a perfect life in Seattle.

The vow she made as a teenager to never again be a victim lies dormant - until one day a reporter lures her to his hotel room under the pretense of an interview - and suddenly all of it comes rushing back. Jill seeks revenge on the reporter, triggering a series of events that leads Jill down a wormhole of retribution, forcing her to spin an ever-widening web of lies.

Meanwhile, Alex is pulled into a case of a series of murders that began as cyber relationships. There seems to be a familiar fingerprint on these crimes, but Alex refuses to believe the murderer could be someone close to him…

“Chris Patchell”s debut novel, Deadly Lies, is a taut, fast-paced thriller that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go. Patchell is a master storyteller with a real talent for creating pulse-pounding suspense.”—Kevin O’Brien, New York Times Bestselling Author of Unspeakable.

Please consider reading and reviewing this captivating thriller. If you would like to read and review Deadly Lies, please email rebeccaberus@gmail.com or message me, Rebecca Berus, on Goodreads.

Alex Tardif (atardif) | 1 comments Hi All

So I'm in the final stages of polishing off draft 2 of my first novel, which is crime fiction, and would like to solicit feedback from whomever is interested in the genre and willing to dedicate their time to read it.

I would send it to you via hard-copy (I'm a traditionalist) and include a postage paid envelope for return. Feel free to write/scribble/cross/add anything you think will improve the story.

A few things:
1. It comes to about 500 A4 pages, as it's double spaced and has larger font for proof-reading.
2. I would like to receive it back by Christmas time to give me the holiday break to work on it.

If you are interested please send me your postal address via message/email. The only payment I can offer is a thank you and acknowledgement if (fingers crossed) I was lucky enough to get published.

Thank you for your consideration
Alex

Rebecca | 16 comments We are offering an e-book of Bloodridge by DS Kane in exchange for an honest review no later than three weeks after you receive the book. Bloodridge is a fast-paced spy thriller written by a former operative, and filled with intrigue.

To find justice for those he loved, a man finds himself at the center of a dangerous global conspiracy…

When Jon Sommers finds out his fiancé Lisa Gabriel died in a terrorist bomb attack, he is visited by spymaster, Yigdal Ben-Levy, who throws Jon’s life into chaos, when he tells him that Lisa was not a fellow graduate student but a Mossad spy sent to bring him to Israel. Ben-Levy convinces Jon to seek justice for Lisa’s murder by joining Mossad and going after Tariq Houmaz, her killer.

Shortly after training, Jon’s entire new team is executed by the bomb maker, who murdered Lisa, and only Jon escapes the massacre. As he leaves the scene, Jon finds himself captured, threatened and turned into a double agent for MI-6. When his Mossad handler, Ben-Levy learns this, he wants Jon dead as an example to other Israeli coverts.

If being a hunted double agent isn’t enough, Jon comes across information in his spying for MI-6 that suggests Israel is in impending danger from Houmaz. To stop this catastrophe, Jon must put together his own team, one he can trust with his life. Can Jon bring justice to Lisa's murderer, or will millions of lives be lost?

“A globe-trotting spy thriller dense with intriguing insider's knowledge.”—Kirkus Reviews

Sue Perry I'm hoping to gather more reviews for my fantasy detective novel, Nica of Los Angeles. If you're a genre purist this might not be for you - although readers so far have enjoyed the genre bending. Check out the reviews and PM me if you would like a free ebook to read for review, or if you would like to exchange books for read-'n'-review.
As the blurb goes,
You've never read anything like this! When rookie private eye Nica takes on a mysterious case, she enters a world of multiple dimensions called Frames, where buildings and lawn chairs can be sentient, where a stray cat has great powers, where books can be killers, and clouds can be spies. At home, Nica tackles missing persons cases, while in the larger reality of the Frames she is swept into an escalating battle between good and evil.

E.g. Michaels (egmichaels) Hello,

My name is E.G. Michaels and I'm a crime fiction/thriller writer. I've recently released my first two books (technically a novella and a novel) on all major platforms and am looking to gain some more reviews.

The first book of my series is called "Before The Clock Strikes".

Here's the book blurb:

"A quiet neighborhood is torn from its peaceful sleep by a shocking and brutal late night drive-by shooting. An innocent teenage sleepover takes a tragic turn as a hail of bullets rip into the front of a house.

Philadelphia Detective Kyle Simmons is assigned one task: Catch the killer before someone else takes matters into their own hands.

Then something strange happens: A long forgotten contact of the detective has been killed. The evidence is crystal clear that this was a cold and calculated hit.

But as Simmons works both cases, a disturbing thought keeps popping up in his head: What if the two cases are somehow connected?

Detective Simmons races against the clock to quickly find the proof to solve both cases before all hell breaks loose. E.G. Michaels delivers a debut action-packed thriller with white-knuckle twists, unexpected humor, and leaves you wanting even more."

Again, it's available on all major platforms but here is the link to it:

Before The Clock Strikes

I'm looking for honest and fair reviews. As my way of saying thank you for taking the time to write a review on Goodreads, Amazon, or one of the other major platforms, I will send you book #2 of my series, The Countdown in your preferred format.

If you have any questions, please send me an email (contact AT egmichaels DOT com) or through goodreads and I will get back to you within one business day.

Sincerely,

E.G.

Malcolm Thomson | 9 comments I have just self-published "TheodoraLand" on the German ePubli platform and it will also be made available as a Kindle endition. The storytelling is set in German-speaking territories (Bavaria, Canton Thurgau in Switzerland and, SOuth Tyrol in Italy). While I write in English, I have made Munich my home.

I'll send copies of the book in PDF or ePub format to anyone inclined to write a review if they are enticed to do so bay the following short pitch.

"Conspiracies current, recent and very, very ancient are the stuff of many paperback thrillers Theodora Lange is well used to selling in the Bookshop in Munich. Not that such weighty matters are in any way part of her own life. She’s young, quirky and resolutely independent, often seen on rollerblades or her longboard risking life and limb and oblivious to the disapproval of her impetuosity.

There are things which puzzle Theodora, life, love and sex, to name but a few. But these are issues which are suddenly of secondary importance when a bomb explodes in the antiquarian section of the Bookshop and she finds herself the guardian of three mysterious volumes. The summer of 2012 becomes much more complicated and perilous than she could ever have imagined."

Danke schön!

Jay | 20 comments Scent of a Killer by Jay Korza

Hi everyone! My new detective novel just hit Amazon today in both Kindle and paperback versions. I would love to give out some free copies of my book to anyone who is interested. I don't have a set number of copies to give, at least fifty, but I'll update this post once I decide to stop handing them out.

If you read my book and want to leave a review, that would be great and much appreciated. However, I'm not giving copies away with any stipulations for reviews - there are no strings attached. Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy it.

Synopsis:
On a warm evening in a tranquil San Francisco, Katherine sits patiently on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. In a house on the same hill, a husband is kissing his wife goodnight for the last time. For reasons known only to Katherine, this loving husband is the focus of Katherine’s current project, and all of her projects end in the same way – death.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, Sebastian Giustina and his partner Basilio Machin are two of the best homicide detectives the NYPD has. Some give credit where credit is due, but others say that Sebastian has an unfair advantage that has gotten him to where he is today. Sebastian has an extremely heightened sense of smell known as hyperosmia; together with an unheard of photographic scent memory, Sebastian can detect evidence at crime scenes that would otherwise go unnoticed.

When Katherine targets a project in the great city of New York, she unwittingly leaves her victim to be found by the one detective in the world who may be able to put together the evidence and bring her serial killing to an end.

John Oehler | 7 comments This is a pleasing coincidence. My first published book, Aphrodesia: A Novel of Suspense, stars a young man with Sebastian's gifts of smell and recall. While a student at the world's top perfume school (in Versailles) he creates a powerful aphrodisiac fragrance. After getting kicked out of the school for a theft he didn't commit, he relocates to New York City, where he moonlights for the NYPD as a forensic scent expert. When a counterfeit of his aphrodisiac perfume surfaces as the only link in a series of passion-driven homicides, he becomes the prime suspect. In the struggle to prove his innocence — against increasingly violent adversaries — his only advantages are his incredible sense of smell and his encyclopedic knowledge of all things related to scent.

I'm delighted to see I'm not alone in using smell to propel a mystery/suspense novel. I look forward to reading Scent of a Killer and wish you every success with the book.

That's insane! I looked all over for this premise before I started writing and didn't see it at all. I even contacted two different research facilities that specialize in human sensory research and the people I corresponded with hadn't heard anything of the like.

Now I need to read your book! I just downloaded it with my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

In my book, Sebastian uses his ability as an aside to his overall great detective skills. The first chapter, a court scene, really lays out how his ability is not a gimmick that he uses to solve everything.

Thanks for the post!

message 31: by John (new)

John Oehler | 7 comments I love it. Except for taste, smell is the most neglected of the senses we call upon to engage readers. Stories driven by smell are even rarer. The only good one I know of is Perfume: The Story of a Murderer written by Patrick Suskind in 1985. The film version, I think, is also good, although Rotten Tomatoes only gives it 3 out of 5 stars.

By the way Aphrodesia, because it centers on an aphrodisiac, contains a number of fairly explicit sex scenes (something I don't normally put in my writing). If that's not your cup of tea, just skip over them. While the story has excellent reviews in general, it does have two 1-star reviews — both of which, interestingly, are from men who thought it had too much sex. Anyhow, the scenes are in there to reveal character, provide motives for potential villains, and illustrate both good and bad effects of the perfume.

Also by the way, if you're interested in how I came up with the story idea, you can read about that here: http://johnoehler.com/blog/aphrodesia...

I'm going now to buy the paperback version of Scent of a Killer and can't wait to start reading.

James Sumner (jamespsumner) | 9 comments Hi,

I'm looking for kind, helpful, lovely members of the community to review my first novel, "Crucible".

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Ideally, I'm looking for a review on Goodreads and your local Amazon site (either .com or .co.uk - either is fine).

If you're interested, please use the contact form on my website, www.jamespsumner.com, to e-mail me and I'll reply with a .PDF version of the novel.

The book's only 0.99 anyway, but if you're interested in a free book and are happy to help a fellow author, please get in touch. If this proves successful, I'll be looking to do it with my other, full-priced books as well.

I'm after genuine, honest feedback - all I will say is, if you read it and find yourself with a long list of things you think are terrible, please tell me personally, not via a review :-)

Many thanks,

JPS

Reinaldo DelValle (reinaldodelvalle) | 1 comments Hello readers!

My name is Reinaldo DelValle and I just launched a new mystery series. The title of the book is The Valentine Circle (A Silas de San Michel Mystery). Some reviewers have compared it to Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, and even The DaVinci Code. I personally like to describe it as The Bourne Identity meets Sherlock Holmes meets The Last Samurai.

Here’s the description:

Boston, winter of 1885.

A string of kidnappings plagues the snow-laden city of Boston while a murderer runs amok, hunting and killing the unborn babies of the city's social elite.

A powerful group called the Valentine Society controls the city's police department, and the people of Boston's last hope for justice lies in the hands of a man who mysteriously washes ashore from a distant foreign land, battered and bruised.

To complicate matters, he doesn't remember who he is or where he's from...

Just a week after he is found unconscious aboard a cargo ship, Officer Silas de San Michel is thrust into a mysterious case dealing with the vicious killings of pregnant teenage girls. But what he doesn't know is that these young girls belong to the secret Valentine Society, an elite group of Boston socialites that have corrupted the city's top officials, unashamedly operating above the law.

With the help of his boss, the highly intelligent Inspector Belloc, and his lovely assistant, the boisterous and spirited Miss Posy Chapman, Silas embarks on a journey that takes him inside a secret world of rules and privileges, of oppressive parents and mischievous alliances.

Weighed down by the sickness of memory loss, Silas struggles to maintain his sanity as he begins to discover the darkness plaguing his own sordid past, a darkness that ultimately brings him to the brink of becoming that which he hunts, a serial killer who was raised and trained by an insidious organization known only as The Factory.

Libby Hi, all. I've been lurking for -- well -- it's embarrassing how long. But... I do have an ARC/galley of a historical novella thriller that will be coming out late June in print and ebook formats. It's called THE INCIDENTAL SPY, and it's about a female German refugee who is forced to spy on the early years of the Manhattan Project in Chicago. (Late 1930s through 1942). The ARC is available in both e-formats. If that interests you, please email me at libby at libbyhellmann.com. Many thanks in advance.

Rebecca | 16 comments We are offering an e-book of Trispero by Sean Adelman in exchange for an honest review no later than three weeks after you receive the book. Trispero is a fast-paced thriller that explores the value inherent in everyone.
Our intellect directs us. Our humanity defines us.

What if the key to unlocking our genetic code and our future lay within some of our most disenfranchised individuals? Would we still shun them?

Seattle in the year 2330: centuries of conflict have led to this precipice. If the world is to move forward, Olivay has the difficult task of teaching Alucia her history. Olivay knows that without understanding where she came from Alucia will never be able to help humanity explore the universe.

In present day Seattle, Jason Roy is a scientist whose life revolves around his daughter, Lily. Within her genome lies a secret that Jason has dedicated himself to uncovering. The mundane life of a scientist and his family takes a turn when a multinational corporation decides Jason Roy's research is a danger to them.

Jason and Lily are now running away from an unforeseen enemy and toward a discovery that will change mankind. Altering the world may come too late for Jason to save what matters most in his own world.

The great irony of unlocking our genetic potential was finding that our greatness was found in our love for one another.
-Trispero almanac

Please consider reading and reviewing this captivating thriller. If you would like to read and review Trispero, please email rebeccaberus@gmail.com or message Rebecca Berus on Goodreads.
