Rob Thurman
Hi! Anyone have any updates on Cal #11, allegedly called Everwar? It was supposed to be released today, but it seems to have gone missing-along with the author, Rob Thurman!

I'm really sorry that it appears there won't be a conclusion to the Nevermore storyline. If that's the case it would have been better to end the series with Downfall.
I'm also disappointed in Rob Thurman. She seems very bitter about not only her publisher but also her fans. Over the past several years, she has appeared angry that she hasn't gotten more support. Sorry, but I own all the books in paper, digital, and audio so I'm not sure how much more supportive I could be. And, frankly, that's really more than I "owe" any author. She's punishing the fans she does have for the faults of the fans she doesn't have. You certainly don't build a bigger fan base by acting like that to the current base. At this point, I guess I just need to walk away from Cal and Niko with great regret.
That said, Thurman provided me with a lot of enjoyment through her writing in the past, so I do wish her all success and happiness in her life in the future.

I'm soooo glad I decided to hold off on reading Nevermore when I read somewhere that it ended on a cliffhanger. To be honest, I thought the end of Downfall was a pretty fitting conclusion to the series.
She's posted on Facebook multiple times since the would be release date, just not about the book.
Please, somebody, give me some hope this book is going to be released... and soon!
Yeah, I'm very worried about the book and the author. Apparently she seems to have fallen into a 'nobody cares about this stuff' rut. She's made absolutely no updates about anything, and the book doesn't exist anywhere. :(
I'm constantly checking for news but so far, nothing.

No clue! I've checked everywhere I could think of for info of the book OR the author and nothing...I hope everything is ok. I've been really looking forward to this book! I just wish Thurman would at least post a message of some sort to let everyone know what's up.
Hey bad news guys, someone on twitter emailed the publisher and actually got a response. The book has been cancelled. :(

The problem is that she was under contract to publish book 11. If they are not publishing it does she have the rights to self publish it herself.
Btw I always expected Georgina “George” to come back specially with the few hints and mention of her in some of the books.

I was holding out hope that the last book would get published at some point, given that it is the last one but ... doesn't seem like that is ever going to happen.
I'm going to say my piece here: I've had some interactions with Rob on twitter and apart from one nice conversation, none of our interactions were, let's say, pretty. I once commented on the fact that she described Achillles and Patroclus as cousins (she kind of went the "Troy" route with that) and as someone fascinated by ancient history, I thought that was a strange way to interprete that. She straight up wrote me back that this is her universe and she gets to do whatever she wants. Which ... sure, fine, let's leave it at that.
I read many of the posts and tweets where she accused her fans of not supporting her enough, of only ever wanting more Cal and none of her others books (I own most of them - they just aren't that great, sorry not sorry) and that we should buy all her other books to support her. Her attitude sucks. Her whole demeanor online was really shitty. I look at other authors in the same genre and can't even look at how awful she comes off in comparison.
So yeah, I'm sad. I wanted this story to be concluded. But I also kind of feellike I know where she was going with it, so I'm not that heartbroken. I didn't like Nevermore and I was never a big fan of the whole resurrection-twist, so I'm okay. Not happy, but definitely not devastated either.

:( Oh that's so sad, I didn't realize there was an implosion. I've been nuts for 3 years now because of Nevermore's unexpected cliffhanger, and I really enjoyed watching Cal with his younger self. I'm sorry all that happened to Thurman, life is nuts sometimes and nobody is at their best all the time. I hope she's doing well out there.
Really didn't expect Goodreads to publish #11 as a new book with options of Amazon, etc to buy it. These options don't work.
I read a few items that said the Rob Thurman was considering self-publishing. That would be great - I've read everything available.

Well folks seeing how much time has passed I think we can conclude she has no intention of ever publishing the book.
Its sad though because overall I enjoyed her books but she would not be the first author to leave the fans in a lurch as both Lorna Freeman and David R. Palmer did cliffhangers at the end of their works and then disappeared.

For some reason I'm unable to respond to one of the questions above but here's my response to the comment about rights to a books:
No that's not correct. I'm a published author under a pen name and yes, it's complicated. You don't give up the rights to your book permanently unless you are scammed.
When you publish a book you sign a contract. Usually this contract says that you are giving the publisher the rights to publish the book for a certain amount of time. You own the book, they cannot change it without your permission. Almost always it's a finite time and the rights to publish eventually revert back to the author. Then both parties need to sign a new contract if the author wants the books to still be printed. They can then choose to self publish the book instead or do nothing. But the publisher has to want to make that contract and the costs associated. Often the sales have died off by that time and the publisher is no longer interested. That's why books go out of print. The books are the author's intellectual property but he or she may have temporarily given up the right to self publish.
However, if they're really lucky, they can get a publisher who does not require exclusive rights to publish. This is very rare and generally done by a brand new publisher who is trying to get well known authors to take a risk with them. Then if the publisher does well enough with sales, the next book's contract is standard. This is the case with one of my novellas. I'm satisfied with the publisher and have stayed with it.

I know this is like 5 years later, but can't we do something?
I mean can't we communicate with the writer or the publisher or something?
I just read the full series and I need closure. I tried to tweet to her but she last tweeted 5 years ago!
And it seems the book is already written only needs publishing.. This is really frustrating, how am I suppose to move to something else now when I'm wondering if the whole thing can be fixed?

I've never met a better author than Robyn. I was an obsessed reader of her fan fiction as a kid, and it honed my entire narrative style. Not having a conclusion to the series is hard, but not knowing if she's okay is harder. We were in contact on Facebook and I followed her advice and self-published my first novel. I have so much to thank her for, and wanted to see some positivity on this post. If she's still with us, I hope she knows there's an audience that'll welcome her back with open arms.
