Anne (oohhyowan) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! I have read two of your books - EAP & Fangirl and they both really hooked me. Up until now I am still wondering what were Eleanor's last three words. Would Eleanor and Park have a sequel or I will remain curious all through my life? Haha. I love you so much and your works bby!

message 302: by Umi (new)

Umi | 2 comments Hi Rainbow! I read your novel Eleanor and Park. I really like it! You always has unique idea for your novel and unique character, where do you get your idea come from? Do you did some research or based your personal experience?
Thank you.

Maren(dersane)abella | 6 comments We keep on asking but it seems that none has been answered yet. :(

message 304: by Ella (new)

Ella Reese (ellareese) Rainbow,

I was completely engrossed in Eleanor & Park - I just could not put it down! I absolutely loved that it was set in such a fun era - the 1980's. What inspired you to tell the story in that time period?

I'm about to start Fangirl and cannot wait for Landline. Thanks, -E

Its because she's answering them in July....

message 306: by Louanne (new)

Louanne (louanne03) | 1 comments Hey Rainbow, I was wondering where your inspiration for book plots come from?

message 307: by Laura (new)

Laura All of your books are set at least somewhat in Nebraska, do you feel that you are writing about a sense of place in your novels? Is the Nebraska of your works similar to that of your youth?

message 308: by Laura (new)

Laura (laurajane26) | 1 comments Okay, my question: Were any of the characters in Fangirl inspired by anyone you know?

I, myself, am an identical twin and I felt a very close and rare connection to lots of the characters (especially Cath and Wren, obviously). Thank you for writing such an amazing book that I'll treasure for the inevitable future :)

message 309: by Yzzy (new)

Yzzy (themissingreader) | 4 comments Hello!
I just finished Attachments and it's the first book I've read by you. It was amazing! I love Lincoln so much. And I admire how he fell in true love...it's not an easy to find someone love you without looking at the physical appearance.

Anyway, first question; Why is Rainbow your name? I'm just curious, it's not everyday that you someone with a name like that, in a way, I find it unique.

2nd Question: Is there a real Lincoln in your life? How are they the same?

Just another Q; do you have any plans of writing something entirely different from your previous novels (i.e. Realistic Fiction and Chick Lit), not that I don't like it, I just want to know if you have interests in doing something different.
Don't get me wrong, I love Realistic Fiction; it's not hard to imagine myself on the protagonist's shoes. I'm just wondering.

message 310: by Arantxa (new)

Arantxa (arantxamontala) Hi! I've just read Fangirl and I felt like an autobiography, so I wonder two questions for you:
- Do you write about real persons in your life?
- Do you think it's ethic to write about real persons without they knowledge for own histories?
I ask these because I do exactly those things and I'm not pretty sure if it's something right.
I really hope you'll read these and answer it.
Xo from Venezuela.

message 311: by Kathy (new)

Kathy | 1 comments I, too, like all your books. I especially relish the reality of your work: we do enjoy listening to the gossip of strangers, fat people are just as human and loveable as anyone else, and you have to work at a marriage to make it survive. But maybe my favorite is FANGIRL because who ever writes about the fear and loneliness of leaving your family and friends and familiar community behind when you head off to the adventure of college? Do you look for ideas that are not usually written about, or is that just the way your stories work?

message 312: by Mary (new)

Mary (twinkiesmom1) | 1 comments Dear Rainbow,
I love, love, love your books...but they tend to end abruptly (e.g., the three words in Eleanor & Park)....would you ever consider writing more of an extended epilogue for any of your books so we can enjoy the afterglow?

Respectfully,
Mary

message 313: by Miranda (new)

Miranda | 1 comments Hi, Rainbow. You've made quite the name for yourself in the Fiction World, with a particularly big following in your Young Adult novels. Did you ever think that you would gain the success that you have, and have you always known you wanted to be a writer?

As an aspiring author myself, you inspire me to not give up on my goals. Thank you for being so fabulous!

message 314: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm am a huge fan of your work and I was wondering if Eleanor and park was in any way inspired by pretty in pink? That movie I thought had a few connections with the book.

message 315: by Mary (new)

Mary Capacio (iameminadesu) | 6 comments hi! i read Eleanor & Park twice and it was just heartbreaking. but also its one of those books that even though it had that kind of ending you still kind of want it. its so weird but, yeah. the whole 80's vibe without the cellphones and the internet just made it more romantic.

i feel like you've been asked this question a thousand times, still...

Q: do they actually see each other in the future?

message 316: by Bella (new)

Bella Fayad | 1 comments Hi! I love your work! I've read Eleanor and Park multiple times and fall in love with it again each time. I know you might be asked this a lot... Do Eleanor and Park end up together? Does she start writing back more?
Thank you so much!

Fireplace.Bookworm (fireplacebookworm) | 1 comments I loved your book Eleanor & Park. I have one question/ request will you please make a sequel?! I think this book is amazing for young girls is screams acceptance of ones body...I must know how both Eleanor and Park are doing say right before high school graduation? ;)

Erin Smith (erindotsmith) (erindotsmith) | 1 comments One of my favorite aspects of your writing is how refreshingly real your characters and their observations feel. I'm curious to know, as a child, who were your favorite authors to read and what made you love them? I feel like what we read in our childhood can have such a big impact.

message 323: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! Every writer is a reader so I have to ask, what do you like to read? What book has stuck with you?

message 324: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebecca46) Hi Rainbow! Eleanor & Park was such an amazing book, and I love how teens like me get a look of what the 80s were like in high school! My question is, what inspired you to write this book?

Archived Account - Not Active (inactivekuka) | 1 comments G'day Rainbow Rowell!

I loved Fangirl and can't wait to read Eleanor & Park! I was wondering what your favorite book is and why? Do you have a favorite author? Thank you!

message 326: by Emily (new)

Emily | 1 comments I hope no one has asked this question so far but:

If you could go back and tell yourself just one thing before you got signed to a publishing deal what would that one thing be?

Thanks!
Emily

message 327: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine Cafe | 1 comments I have read Eleanor and Park and my questions are.
1. WHY DID YOU END IT LIKE THAT!! I couldn't sleep properly after reading that book.:(

2. Did they or did they not get together?

3. WHAT WAS THE THREE WORDS!!!

message 328: by Janella (new)

Janella | 1 comments Above them all, I love E&P the most. <3

message 329: by Carissa (new)

Carissa Turpin | 1 comments Hello, Rainbow! I have read--and LOVED--all of your novels: Fangirl, Attachments, and Eleanor & Park. The latter touched me tremendously, and I was excited to learn there was a movie adaptation in the works. My question, then, is this: What are your hopes for the film version of E&P? What scenes or components from your novel do you hope to see make the transition to the big screen? I am eagerly awaiting the release of Landline--can't wait to read it!

message 330: by Clarisse (new)

Clarisse Ladines (freaklibrocubicularist) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow, I hope you"ll answer my question. I just wanna know, what/who inspired you to write Landline?

Thank you :-)

message 331: by O (new)

O | 2 comments What is your motivation toward the topics you write about? Simply put - inspiration. What is your inspiration to write the books you (so fabulously) write?

message 332: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (sammiesideup) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! I loved your Eleanor and Park book the most because I thought it was somehow realistic. How Eleanor's "flawed" and Park could be called a "loser" from racism. I just really loved it. May I ask where you got your inspiration to animate a character such as eleanor? :)

p.s. I can't wait for landline! it looks interesting and the description gave me a supernatural feel. :D

message 333: by Valles (new)

Valles Valles (vallesita24) | 1 comments rainbow i loved LOVED your book Eleanor and Park, i loved it because it shows that anyone con be with anyone and the characters are so unique i just have three questions... what happens with Eleanor's family? and what are the two words thats are in the letter that Eleanor sent, and did Eleanor meet again, its just that probably everybody that read it want to know these questions... if u answer, thank u a lot, me and my friends love the book so much all though we read it in spanish since we are in Mexico... well too long thank u so much.

message 334: by Fer (new)

Fer | 1 comments How would you feel if one of your novels were to be made a film production? Who would be your dream cast?

message 335: by Kelley (new)

Kelley (kelleyloftis) | 1 comments I love your YA books! They both are awesome stories that I didn't want to end!

Have you ever thought about writing follow-up books on either E & P or Fangirl? I would love to see either.

Thanks!

Kelley

message 336: by Marjorie (new)

Marjorie Bourgoin (colombarium) | 1 comments I've read Eleanor & Park (and it BROKE MY HEART DAMN YOU) and I'm looking forward to reading more of your books, so my question was, which one of your books are you most proud of writing (including E&P)? Also which are some of your favorite books of the moment?

message 337: by Bethany (new)

Bethany | 2 comments I'm a little obsessed with names, and your characters have fantastic ones. I love that they convey so much about who they are without being, say, Remus Lupin (though Cather is headed in that direction). What can you tell us about the process and reasonings for naming the characters in Landline?

message 338: by Sugar (new)

Sugar Alivia (sgraliviaaa) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow!

First of, I love your name. Second, I just started reading your novels and I'm enjoying it. Lastly, here's my question: I was expecting that Eleanor and Park might end up together but I was wrong. Why is the ending like that? I still love the book tho :)

message 339: by Jaylen (new)

Jaylen (jaylen_) Hello Rainbow, I really enjoyed your book Fangirl and can't wait to read Eleanor and Park, Attachments and Landline! I have heard nothing but good things.
Q: Do you think you will write any other books about teens or college?

message 340: by Isabelle Jade (new)

Isabelle Jade (isabellejade) I am an aspiring writer, and thought I could ask you some questions about your process as a writer.
How long does it usually take you to finish a first draft? Do you have a preference of time of day that you write? Also, what inspired you to first start to write?
Thank you for your time, and looking forward to reading more of your fabulous books!

message 341: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 1 comments I read Eleanor & Park, I love it! I really need to know what the last three words Eleanor said to Park. And please don't tell me "It's up to the readers to decide their own ending" I really want you to tell me the ending. Please please please tell me the last three words that Eleanor sent to Park

message 342: by Furubafreakxd (new)

Furubafreakxd (Beibhinn) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow !! I have read Eleanor &Park and Fangirl which I adore!! During my readings I saw that you give the girls in this book all different body sizes. I would like to ask how you feel about body confidence .

message 343: by Lina (new)

Lina Riskiana (linarizkiant) | 3 comments Hi Rainbow!!! I've read your book "Fangirl". After read it, I have some questions that stuck in my mind. Like what'd happened to Cath and Levi, their relationship and their love story. I really want to know about it.
And I just starting to read the other of your books, "Eleanor and Park", and downloaded "Attachments". Can't wait to read it!

message 344: by thestoryteller16 (new)

thestoryteller16 (goodreadscomthestoryteller16) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow Rowell, I love to even get presented the chance to ask an author questions because I feel that are just so many to ask, but you don't want to overwhelm them. Anyways.......the first question is what made you want to write, like was it urge or was it something that builded up over time? What advice would you give someone that wants to write but just isn't completely sure it's something that they want to pursue as a career? And last but not least how do you make all your characters so real and relatable?

Now that all my questions are asked I want to thank you for giving the gift of Fangirl, Attachments, Eleanor and Park and soon to come Landlines. Also you did an amazing job in making all your characters relatable and real and i always love to see that in a book.
- Keep On Writing

message 345: by Dixie (new)

Dixie Minor | 2 comments I think I posted my question the first time under the wrong discussion-oops! So here goes, again; (sorry!!) I LOVED all three of your books and can't wait for Landline! I was wondering if you think your experience as a newspaper columnist influenced or affected your writing, and how?

message 346: by Charlie (new)

Charlie | 1 comments Hello Rainbow! I loved Fangirl and it's one of my favorite books :). Though theres one question about the ending i have and I'm not sure if it's been asked/answered before. But did Cath ever finish her carry on fanfiction? I just really want to know because it wasn't said. Do you think it's up to us the reader to decide what happens to characters after a book ends, or is that just it for them (the characters)? Thanks if you answer :). Will also be reading Landlines as soon as possible :).

message 347: by Pamela (new)

Pamela | 1 comments Hi!! I am a huge fan!! I have this question..

What happend with Eleanor? Did she just get away?! This question is killing me..... :'(

message 348: by Aislinn (last edited Jun 21, 2014 08:33PM) (new)

Aislinn Arguelles (aislinnrojas) | 2 comments Hey Rainbow! I read Eleanor and Park does 3 or 4 monts and i fall in love with this book, i really like the prominent figures, his personalities, and for everything what they spend, really stay in shock with the end, I remain a flavor with desire of more, sometimes an incomplete end can generate more controversy and for the such thing have reputation and maybe a book more long has not been the agreeable enough or adaptable thing to be juvenile, I am charmed with me your book everything was very well definite, I believe that there remains with enough doubts like that he was saying the letter that Eleanor orders in that only 2 words were coming? Or, that I spend with Eleanor's family? And that I spend with Park and Cat? If both had new equal, they never returned to see or if already they lost completely the love, I believe that they are many doubts wait for response.

message 349: by Emily (last edited Jun 23, 2014 04:49AM) (new)

Emily | 3 comments Hi! Your books are wonderful treasures to me and I thank you for writing them.

I have a question about the book Eleanor and Park. I listened to all the Smith's songs referenced in the book. Why did the Smith's songs bring them such comfort? I get the teenage angst sort of thing, but for them to make Eleanor and Park feel better? What am I missing here?

message 350: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle | 1 comments Hey Rainbow, is there any possibility for you to write a sequel to Fangirl???
