Karen Grace (wandergrace) | 2 comments OMG is this for real? I love Rainbow Rowell so much. Her stories keep me awake every night. Haha. I love spending my time finishing your books. I'm from Manila, Philippines.

May question is: Is there a chance to meet you in person here in Manila? Many writers have been here. I hope you can be one of them.

I would really love that to happen.

I've read a couple of your books. One of the best! :)

message 202: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Tomé | 1 comments Hi, Rainbow!
I must say, I totally love your writing style. Your characters are so human and your prose is magical-- you CAN make a text so special just with your words !
Now all your stories are very special, but as a writer, what meant writing for adults instead for teenagers? Was it a challenge?
Lots of kisses,
Andrea

message 203: by Mahnoor (new)

Mahnoor Khan | 1 comments Hi Rainbow, Eleanor & Park is one of the few best books I've ever read, and it's absolutely inspirational.

I wanted to know how you write. Do you plan out every scene before you write it, or do you just write what comes to mind along the way? And what made you think to write the book in the certain time period that you did? :)

message 204: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (potpourrioftulips) Hi! :) I'd like to know if music helps you write. Like, does it inspire you? If so, what kind of music do you like?

message 205: by Evalynda (new)

Evalynda Cayton | 2 comments i Rainbow! One of the aspects of all your books that I love so much is how your characters are so relatable. In what way do you think people will relate to the main character in Landlines?

message 206: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Hi Rainbow,

Eleanor and Park was a wonderful read. I'm interested in your writing process. Do you find that ideas, or images, or words come to you? Or all three? (I find images kick-start things for me).

message 207: by Evalynda (new)

Evalynda Cayton | 2 comments Hi Rainbow, I'm a huge fan of all of your books and a huge fangirl! What are some (books, movies, music) that you are an extreme fan of?

message 208: by Xaviera (new)

Xaviera (xavierasha) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! Love from Indonesia! My question is which character from your books would you like to meet in real life? And why?

message 209: by Shelby (new)

Shelby Young (shelbyyoung) | 1 comments I've only read Eleanor & Park, but I absolutely loved it. I haven't had time to read recently, so I want to read more and definitely will pick up some of her books this summer. The one question I want to ask is if there will be a sequel to Eleanor & Park? It was an amazing book, and I would love to read it again!

message 210: by Carol (new)

Carol (cjrb) | 2 comments Eleanor and Park is my all-time favorite book. I'm a high school teacher and can say from first-hand observations that there are Eleanor's walking the halls of high schools everywhere. I shared my book with other teachers and eventually gave it to a high school girl who kept looking at my copy with wishful eyes. Please tell me there will be a sequel. Right? :)

message 211: by Siti Hajar (new)

Siti Hajar (sexandthesiti) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow,

I absolutely adore "Fangirl" and it really speaks to me as a fangirl myself. So, I'm wondering: What inspires you to write "Fangirl"? And is Simon Snow a nod to the Harry Potter fandom or am I just imagining it?

Thanks!

message 212: by Shreyonti (new)

Shreyonti Chakraborty | 2 comments Hi, Rainbow. I loved Elanor and Park and it means a lot to me.

I just wanted to ask, where does your inspiration come from, but 'Elanor and Park' and Fangirl' seemed like completely different books to me (both great in their own way), so I was wondering how you conceived the ideas for both of them.

Also, who are your favorite writers and what are your writing influences?

message 213: by Johnpatrick (new)

Johnpatrick (johnpatrickmarr) | 1 comments Hi, another big fan here!

I've read Fangirl and Eleanor & Park, and their historical settings contribute so much to the feel of the worlds their characters inhabit. At what point in the writing of those stories did you decide on the setting?

And a quick bonus question! I was so thrown for a loop in Fangirl when I found out this WASN'T an alternate universe where Harry Potter never existed. What went into your decision whether or notto entirely replace cultural touchstones like HP and Twilight with fictional analogues?

Thanks!

message 214: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Miller | 2 comments Hi Rainbow!
I wanted to ask you:
What inspired you in writing young adult books? Where do you get your ideas for the characters? What inspired you the most for your new book?
Thanks!

message 215: by Karen (new)

Karen (karenistah) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow, im excited for your Landline book. I also like your other books like Eleanor and Park. I want to see it also on the big screen. Do you already have chosen actors to play for Eleanor And Park roles?

message 216: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Berry | 1 comments Hi My name is Sophie, and I live in the U.K., I'm 20 and due to illness have not been able to have my first love yet, Eleanor and Park was so well written and so realistic it made me feel and understand what its like to have your first love it was brilliant.

My question is as a writer do you ever get attached to your characters as your writing them and does this connect enable you to write more instinctively and deeply emotionally as you are writing the book??

Thank-you for your time.

message 217: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Rainbow!

How did you feel when you got your first book published?

Georgia!

message 218: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Rainbow! i am a huge fan and i've read all your YA books so far, and i want to be a writer too so my question is, where did you get the ideas for your amazing stories? thanks!

message 219: by Sandy (last edited May 30, 2014 09:41AM) (new)

Sandy Chauvin | 5 comments After reading Eleanor and Park, I went on to read Fangirl and Attachments. I loved them all. Attachments is very sweet and I love the poetic writing in it, such as being "kissed in the middle of a sentence". I tell anyone who will listen to read your books. I'm a librarian, so people do actually take my opinion on books seriously. I have to thank John Green for his comment on E&P, which led me to read it.

Is Lincoln named after Lincoln, Nebraska? Any plans to write a sequel to E&P? I so want to know what happens to them, but only if they end up together ;)

I love that you have an extreme curly girl as a character, being one myself. Do you have any personal curly hair stories, positive or negative?

message 220: by malachi (last edited May 30, 2014 09:40AM) (new)

malachi Hey rainbow :), do you think it was fun writing landline? If so, do you think this is your best work/book? - xo Malachi

message 221: by Iffah (new)

Iffah (TheAwkwardPanda) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow,

My question for you is : How does it feel to change from writing YA to Adult and what aspire you to write 'Landline'

Thank you!!

message 222: by Princess (new)

Princess Godoy (bookishcess) How did you build your characters in your head? Is there some kind of incident or something that made you want to make this character like this or like that?

message 223: by Ivy (new)

Ivy Catherine (theglorythatwasgreece) | 1 comments Hi Miss Rainbow Rowell...
I rarely read chik-lit/ YA, but you made me. Fangirl made me. And I'm very happy about it. :)

My question is, who's the character in your novels can you relate to the most?

message 224: by Mkittysamom (last edited May 30, 2014 11:21AM) (new)

Mkittysamom (mkittysabkworm) Wow so many questions. How did you put together Fan Girl? Did you write it in sequence? Or did you write the Simon snow stories separate and then added them in? Where do you write and what do you write with? do you have a special ritual?

message 225: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Weaver | 1 comments What was the process like writing to an adult audience and did your process to develop characters differ between earlier titles and the new Landline?

message 226: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (nerdlynn) | 1 comments What made you decide to bridge the gap and write a book for adults as opposed to another YA fiction? How does the voice of writing through an adult work as opposed to through a 17 or 18 yr old?

message 227: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (jiiensam) | 4 comments Hi Rainbow!!!! I'm from your @RainbowRowellPH family and we're all so giddy about Landline like everyone else. Landline seems a bit different from your previous creations. How did you exactly come up with the whole idea of a married couple? Moving from young adult to a bit of "new adult"?

message 228: by Megan (new)

Megan Thomas | 1 comments Rainbow, you know me. You don't really, but you PERFECTLY captured me at the various stages of my life. High school, college, adulthood. It seems so bold to write about the "anti" cool chick. So, I have to know...

Are the characters that are at the heart of your books, a quirky, cool, outsider kind of girl, a representation of you?

message 229: by Jilly (new)

Jilly (shallowjal) | 1 comments Hey Rainbow!

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. I heard that there is going to be a movie adaption of E&P. If this is true, I wondered how you felt about that and if you will have much involvement in the making of the film? I'm hoping the answer to the latter part of my question is yes, poor adaptations of my favourite novels always drive me crazy!

(P.S Do you really think men are scared off by Julia Robert's teeth?)

message 230: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (iyin) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! I'm a big fan of yours, Fangirl is one of my favorite books! ..

I read the review for Landline and my question was:
- What inspired you to make this story?
-To you, Do you like or easier to write books for teens or adults?

message 231: by Hanna (new)

Hanna | 1 comments I've read all of your YA books, and I fell in love with them!

Q: I've heard rumors that Eleanor & Park is being made into a movie. Is this true?

Personally, I would love if it is true because Eleanor & Park is my favorite of your YA books!

message 232: by Charley (new)

Charley Storm Hey!!! I read Fangirl and loved it!! What really got me hooked though was what the plot. I felt like I really connected to it as I'm a slash girl too. But I was wondering what gave you the idea for something like this? And how you came up with the Simon Snow?

message 233: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Moscardon (kdawnmoscardon) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow,

I was just wondering, since you're a big fan of Harry Potter, are you planning to write a fantasy book like The Harry Potter series?.

message 234: by Dorian (new)

Dorian McIntush (doriantagonist) Hi Rainbow!
(I adore your name btw.)
How much deeper meaning did you write into your books?

message 235: by Limina (new)

Limina | 1 comments hi rainbow,
i was just wondering, when was Levi exactly born in
like the date

message 236: by Stellie (new)

Stellie (misssa) I never have any good questions for people I admire. It's like my brain just farts out all useful things and I end up sounding like a derp.

Anywho, here goes...Which decade had the best music?

message 237: by Valeria (new)

Valeria | 1 comments Hi Rainbow!
I was wondering, after reading Landline's plot, do you think it is possible to save a marriage when you don't know how?
We often fall into people with the hope that they will save us (as I think Eleanor's mom did with Richie) but, obviously it's the wrong reason.
Have a good day! Can't wait to read Landline!

message 238: by Ziara (new)

Ziara (Zee-ya-ra) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! I've been an Eleanor and Park addict for as long as I can remember. How do you make your characters and story seem so realistic? Is it because they are based from your past experiences?

message 239: by Camille Andrea (new)

Camille Andrea Tesoro (bookhunter07) | 2 comments Hi Rainbow!!!!

Are you going to write an E&P sequel in their 30s?? Do you still think it is achievable??

message 240: by Gabriela (new)

Gabriela Nicole | 1 comments How do you come up with these ideas for contemporary novels? They're so original and creative while still staying amongst the group of normal YA contemporary!

message 241: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Hi Mrs. Rowell,
I know all of your novels have been set in the more recent time period up until now (1986, 2000, etc) and technology plays a big role in Attachments. Would/have you ever consider writing historical fiction or fiction set at an earlier date, possibly early 1900s? If so how do you think it would change your writing? Or does your personal experience with technology and the late 1900s help you create more realistic characters/is easier for you to write?

Thanks,
Kayla

message 242: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! I've read all your books and absolutely loved E&P. I was ecstatic about the film announcement and was wondering who you would cast if you were to pick?

message 243: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (seaweedbrained) Hi Rainbow!

I read somewhere that Fangirl was a NaNo novel. As a participant in NaNo myself, what advice do you give to those of us struggling with a story idea started in NaNo that we really enjoy?

-Tracy

message 244: by Suzy (new)

Suzy M (suzyeffinreads) | 1 comments Hey Rainbow, I love all your books and I am excited for Landline. My question is as following: Have you ever thought about writing a sequel for maybe Eleanor & Park or even Fangirl? Thanks!

message 245: by Anshita (new)

Anshita (_book_freak) Hi Rainbow, the question i want to ask is while writing your book, do you make up the scenarios or are some of them lifted them from your own life?

message 246: by Camila (new)

Camila (camilaaguilar) | 1 comments Hi! I just have to say that I loved Eleanor & Park, and was wondering if there will ever be a sequel?
Please keep up with your amazing work, I am dying to read what you come up next with!

message 247: by Lena (new)

Lena (leeniizz) Hi Rainbow. Thanks for your great books. Which character is your own favourite? Do you have someone that is just a little more special then the other? :D

message 248: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Wright | 2 comments Hey Rainbow!
To get the chance to pick your brain is a treassure in itsself! I am an aspiring writer and your dynamic characters leave much to admire.
All of the charcters you create are beautiful, deep, and inspirational people. I can connect and fall in love with them, and that's what makes me fall in love with your books. But, I'd love to know, how do you create those people? What are your inspirations?

message 249: by Ella (new)

Ella (eblakeman) | 6 comments Hi Rainbow! Can't believe we have a chance to pick the brain of such an incredible writer, I love all your books but Eleanor and Park especially, I read it all in one night, and literally couldn't out it down! found All your characters are so believable, and the fact it was set in the 80's really stood out for me as extremely unique and exciting, I've actually never read another set in that decade! (Also, Really loved the references to the Smiths and The Young Ones!) My question is: How did you envisage Eleanor and Parks relationship progressing after where you left off at the end of the book? :D

message 250: by Lekeisha (new)

Lekeisha (lekeishathebooknerd) Hello Rainbow! Do you plan on writing future novels in settings other than Nebraska? Love all of your books, but Eleanor & Park is my favorite.
