One of the things I loved most about Eleanor & Park was how both Eleanor and Park had issues with the way they looked - and how both are the type of character not that often seen in media, at least not as the main characters in a love story. I felt really good about reading about them, especially Eleanor, being big and crazy-haired myself. Obviously representation matters, but (finally getting to the question here) was this theme originally something you wanted to write about or something that came along with the characters?
P.S. I was going to look through the questions before asking my own but there were already quite a few, so I'm sorry if this is repetitive.

It's been announced that you're going to be writing the screenplay for the film adaption of Eleanor & Park. What are the differences you feel writing a screenplay verses a book? Vice versa? Also, what kind of advice do you have for aspiring novelists who are additionally pursuing screenwriting?
Thanks so much for your time!

I haven't read too many of your books yet, but I hope to read more over the summer. I read and loved "Eleanor and Park". It is actually one of my favorite books of all time! How did you come up with the characters Eleanor and Park? They aren't characters you would normally see in a love story, and I love that. What was your inspiration?

I wanted to ask since music shows up a lot in your books is there a specific playlist you listen to while writing? Or does it change organically and differ from book to book?
Also I'd love it if you could give us all a playlist for when we're reading your books, I find that the kind of music I listen to while reading can really effect the overall tone of the book.
Love you books! All The Best, Becca.

You are such a great author, I hope the rest of your books will be as good as Fangirl.
Q: If you were given the chance to make one of your books into a movie which one and why? Who would be casted and why?

Question: What do you spend the most time on editing; dialogue, or exposition of the characters?
Thank you!
~ Kimberley

I am such a big fan of your book FANGIRL! i just love everything about it. Would it be possible for you to sign and send a book plate for me pleassssse?
Thanks

*Also, I have a HUGE crush on Levi XD*

Thanks a ton,
Clare

what made u write Eleanor and park?
I've loved your novels so far!!!! Do you ever want to make a film adaptation of Landline?

My question is, what inspired you to create a magical realism element into your newest book? All of your others have been very true-to-life.
PS-If I lived in Nebraska, I'd totally buy you coffee.

I've read Fangirl, Eleanor & Park, and Attachments, and I have enjoyed them all. I can't wait for Landline to come out, because I know I will be astounded, again! Now, question time! 1.) In Landline, where did you get the inspiration for Georgie and Neal's relationship? 2.) Have you ever been in a relationship similar to theirs (minus the time travel-ly bits. Unless, of course, you have time traveled; then please, do tell. ;D)

I just want to know if you ever thought of writing Eleanor and Park a sequel? or if you like to write a second book? I really want to know what happened to them after they got separated? If they continued loving each other? And what's the three words Eleanor wrote to Park? I really love this book and I really want to know what happened to them.
Thankyouverymuch!!! Stay awesome and write many many many books!! <3

Thanks dos answering, you are amazing!!!

I have read Attachment, Fangirl, and Eleanor & Park and find all of them charming and lovely and beautiful and just the best.
My question is: out of all the books you've written, which is your favorite? Out of all the characters you've written about, do you love one the most?

I absolutely love your first name! When I grow up (I'm 14 years old) I want to be a book editor.
So my question is; what kind of obstacles did you have to go through to get into the writing business?

My question is what is your patronus, and what is the happy memory that you used to conjure it?

How do you get inside the heads of the different characters you write from, and how do you write several very different characters (i.e. Lincoln, Cather, Eleanor, Park) so accurately? Do you notice any specific traits that you like to put in all your characters? (i.e., all of them are humble. Was this on purpose or subconscious?)
Do your characters experiences or personality traits ever overlap with your own? Is this something you embrace or try to avoid?

Congratulations for your new book!
Due to Amazon´s review, the plot seems really unique and exciting. So I have been wanting to ask you this to questions
What was your inspiration for writing Landline?
Do you identify yourself with the main character or with any other character in the book?
Blessings!

The time periods of your work really play a huge part in hoe the story is told--is that part of the original germ of an idea or something you discover over time? Is the same true of figuring out if it's a YA audience or for adults (as though adults can't be the YA audience), or is that more of a publishing aspect of the process?
Thank you!

Can you tell us about any current projects you are working on? I know you'll also be writing 2 graphic novels-- any hints on what the style, mood, or story for those will be?
And since you seem to love and really embrace pop culture and media, what's your favorite gif?
Thanks.

Q: What was the writing process of Landline like and how was it different for each of your novels particularly going into this story from your previous work?
Also: What movie/book/song do you go to when you're sad or always manages to give you inspire and motivate you?

I loved both Eleanor and Park and Fangirl, and really was able to connect with both Eleanor and Cath A LOT. I've also noticed that you set all your books in Omaha, Nebraska. I've read in your author bio that that's where you live-do you choose Omaha as your setting because of familiarity, or is it because of something else? Also, I really like how both Cath and Eleanor both have some body issues, like normal women do. Do you feel like this is an important thing to have in literature?
Also one last question: In a zombie apocalypse, would you attack the zombies, run away and hide, protect your family, or pretend you're a zombie so the other zombies won't go after you?
I love the artwork on the covers of your novels, especially Noelle Stevenson's work on Fangirl. How much input do you give with regards to the cover art of your books?
Have a smashing day!
