Hayley Louise (hazzachaz) Hi Rainbow,

I love the artwork on the covers of your novels, especially Noelle Stevenson's work on Fangirl. How much input do you give with regards to the cover art of your books?

Have a smashing day!

message 102: by Alexythimia (new)

Alexythimia | 1 comments Dear Rainbow, thank you so much for your talent to bring warmth into words! Fangirl helped me so much! I want to ask, is there any chance that you will write a sequel to Fangirl? If not, are you planning to write more ya books? Thank you, from Russia with love!

message 103: by Noora (new)

Noora (adelate) | 2 comments Hi Rainbow,

One of the things I loved most about Eleanor & Park was how both Eleanor and Park had issues with the way they looked - and how both are the type of character not that often seen in media, at least not as the main characters in a love story. I felt really good about reading about them, especially Eleanor, being big and crazy-haired myself. Obviously representation matters, but (finally getting to the question here) was this theme originally something you wanted to write about or something that came along with the characters?

P.S. I was going to look through the questions before asking my own but there were already quite a few, so I'm sorry if this is repetitive.

message 104: by Willow (new)

Willow L (cosmicwillow) Hi Rainbow! First off, you are AMAZING! My question is: Have you ever considered writing a short story about Eleanor and Park when they're older? <3

message 105: by Alaa (new)

Alaa | 1 comments Hey Rainbow!
It's been announced that you're going to be writing the screenplay for the film adaption of Eleanor & Park. What are the differences you feel writing a screenplay verses a book? Vice versa? Also, what kind of advice do you have for aspiring novelists who are additionally pursuing screenwriting?
Thanks so much for your time!

message 106: by Salem (new)

Salem Delgado | 1 comments I'm a big fan of all of your books, but the one I have read over and over is definitely Eleanor & Park. I rememebr hearing a long time ago that you were thinking of making a sequel to it, is that true? I don't think I've ever wanted to know what happens to a character's life after the novel ends more than with that book! I'm also very excited to read your new book! :)

message 107: by Jenna (new)

Jenna Soliman | 0 comments Dear Rainbow,
I haven't read too many of your books yet, but I hope to read more over the summer. I read and loved "Eleanor and Park". It is actually one of my favorite books of all time! How did you come up with the characters Eleanor and Park? They aren't characters you would normally see in a love story, and I love that. What was your inspiration?

message 108: by Nuria (new)

Nuria (unwrappeddreams) | 1 comments Hi, I've read Fangirl and Attachements and I've loved them both! I have a more general question... I love to write myself and I was wondering if you have any tips on how to get better and on how to get your work out there...

message 109: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 1 comments Hi Rainbow!

I wanted to ask since music shows up a lot in your books is there a specific playlist you listen to while writing? Or does it change organically and differ from book to book?

Also I'd love it if you could give us all a playlist for when we're reading your books, I find that the kind of music I listen to while reading can really effect the overall tone of the book.

Love you books! All The Best, Becca.

message 110: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (TheBookworkPrincess) | 1 comments I've only read Fangirl, but I hope to read Eleanor & Park, soon.

You are such a great author, I hope the rest of your books will be as good as Fangirl.

Q: If you were given the chance to make one of your books into a movie which one and why? Who would be casted and why?

message 111: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley Hi Rainbow! I absolutely flew through Fangirl and my LAWD I related. (Dawson's Creek faux season 8 fanfic writer here...ahem)

Question: What do you spend the most time on editing; dialogue, or exposition of the characters?

Thank you!
~ Kimberley

caroline ♡ (campjvpiter) Hi Rainbow!! I'm a HUGE fan of yours!! Anyways, I was wondering, what inspired you to write Eleanor and Park?

message 114: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1 comments Huge fan! I was referred to your books by a very good friend because we are a lot like the friends in Attachments. Which has been your favorite character you have written so far?

message 115: by Gabby (new)

Gabby (gabriellaglad) | 7 comments Hi Rainbow! Do you do a lot of pre-planning before you actually start writing? Some authors I've asked say that they do but they don't really like to, or that they just skip the pre-writing all together.

message 116: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 1 comments Hey Rainbow, I'm in love with your writing. You come up with very unique, vibrant stories. What were you influences to become a writer when you were younger? Any authors or pieces of literature?

message 117: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea I'm still a teenager and I loved Fangirl. I have Eleanor & Park and Attachments ready to read. This book sounds amazing but will a teenager like me be able to read it? Or will it have content more set for adults?

message 118: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 1 comments Hello Rainbow! I love all of your books! But I have two questions, what made you want to be a writer? And, how how did you come upon creating Eleanor from Eleanor and Park?

*Also, I have a HUGE crush on Levi XD*

message 119: by Clare (new)

Clare | 1 comments Hi, I'm reading Eleanor and Park right now, and I love it so much!!! Where did you get your inspiration for your characters? What is your favorite line from Eleanor and Park? Who is your favorite author? What books would you recommend if I have read Eleanor & Park?
Thanks a ton,
Clare

message 120: by Brodiesmom (new)

Brodiesmom | 1 comments Rainbow, I just cannot tell you how much Eleanor & Park moved me. The way you use music in that novel is amazing! What music inspired you for Landline?

message 121: by [deleted user] (new)

what made u write Eleanor and park?

message 122: by [deleted user] (new)

I've loved your novels so far!!!! Do you ever want to make a film adaptation of Landline?

message 123: by Ivy (new)

Ivy (GoodreadscomIvy) | 1 comments Hi! I've read fangirl and can't wait to read the rest of your books. My question is what inspired you to write about a character with anxiety and other flaws?

message 124: by Cailey (new)

Cailey | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! We (my friends and I, not the metaphorical we) adore you! My personal favorite of your books is Attachments, because I love Lincoln so much.

My question is, what inspired you to create a magical realism element into your newest book? All of your others have been very true-to-life.

PS-If I lived in Nebraska, I'd totally buy you coffee.

message 125: by Erin (new)

Erin (genevalove) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow, I love all your books! Your characters feel so alive; it's impossible not to care about them and want everything to turn out well for them. I'm curious which comes first when you're writing a novel, the concept or the characters?

message 126: by Candice (new)

Candice (wondrousbooks) Hi, Rainbow!

I've read Fangirl, Eleanor & Park, and Attachments, and I have enjoyed them all. I can't wait for Landline to come out, because I know I will be astounded, again! Now, question time! 1.) In Landline, where did you get the inspiration for Georgie and Neal's relationship? 2.) Have you ever been in a relationship similar to theirs (minus the time travel-ly bits. Unless, of course, you have time traveled; then please, do tell. ;D)

message 127: by Nadine (new)

Nadine (BooksAreForLife) | 1 comments Hiii Rainbow Rowell!! I'm a big fan of yours. I've read every single book you wrote and I've completely deeply fallen in love with all the characters. I don't have any favorites because they're all equally beautiful and well-written.

I just want to know if you ever thought of writing Eleanor and Park a sequel? or if you like to write a second book? I really want to know what happened to them after they got separated? If they continued loving each other? And what's the three words Eleanor wrote to Park? I really love this book and I really want to know what happened to them.

Thankyouverymuch!!! Stay awesome and write many many many books!! <3

message 128: by Karina (new)

Karina Benitez | 1 comments Hi Rainbow!!!, I already read you book of Eleanor & Park and I am currently reading Fangirl, but my question from the book of Eleanor & Park is: What happens to ELeanor & Park at the end of the book, does Elenanor and Park see each other again ????
Thanks dos answering, you are amazing!!!

TheOriginalNikeGirl Hello Rainbow,

I have read Attachment, Fangirl, and Eleanor & Park and find all of them charming and lovely and beautiful and just the best.

My question is: out of all the books you've written, which is your favorite? Out of all the characters you've written about, do you love one the most?

message 130: by Katelyn (new)

Katelyn Watson | 1 comments Hi Rainbow!
I absolutely love your first name! When I grow up (I'm 14 years old) I want to be a book editor.
So my question is; what kind of obstacles did you have to go through to get into the writing business?

message 131: by Naomi (new)

Naomi (worldofbookcraft) | 1 comments I love all your books! Fangirl, E&P, and Attachments resonate so deeply with me, and they just make me so happy.

My question is what is your patronus, and what is the happy memory that you used to conjure it?

message 132: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Dallas | 1 comments One character I especially loved was Cather in Fangirl. As a shy book-reader type myself, going throughout the novel and reading from Cather's POV, I kept wondering how you got so much of it so right. So my questions are:
How do you get inside the heads of the different characters you write from, and how do you write several very different characters (i.e. Lincoln, Cather, Eleanor, Park) so accurately? Do you notice any specific traits that you like to put in all your characters? (i.e., all of them are humble. Was this on purpose or subconscious?)
Do your characters experiences or personality traits ever overlap with your own? Is this something you embrace or try to avoid?

message 133: by Shyanne (new)

Shyanne Hurley-Phillip (menliva) | 1 comments Hello rainbow, your book was soo good, i think it has great potential to become a classic In a future, i have two questions for you about your amazing book, okay first one is why did Elenor's dad write those messages to Her? And what happened to Her family after she left, child services or did her mom muster up the courage to Leave? Ok thanks.

message 134: by Cullen (new)

Cullen Kisner (cullen_leeann) I've read Fangirl and can't wait to read Elanor and Park! I was wondering how adult this book is and maybe even if young adults can read it? I love your writing and really want to read more by you! Keep on writing.

message 135: by Amy (new)

Amy Hello Rainbow! I really enjoyed all three of you're so far released young adult novels. My question for you is : which one of your characters did you relate to the most?

message 136: by paris veronica (new)

paris veronica (aelinsrin) I have read Eleanor and Park and LOVED it and also am currently about to finish fangirl. You are an amazing woman honestly. I would just like to know out of all your books which do you think you see your self more in, as in the characters AND the situations they are put in.

message 137: by [deleted user] (new)

Congratulations for your new book!
Due to Amazon´s review, the plot seems really unique and exciting. So I have been wanting to ask you this to questions

What was your inspiration for writing Landline?

Do you identify yourself with the main character or with any other character in the book?

Blessings!

message 138: by Karen (new)

Karen Q=How are you able to create characters that can be so relatable in so many layers to people all around the world?

message 141: by Erica (new)

Erica | 1 comments Hi Rainbow,

The time periods of your work really play a huge part in hoe the story is told--is that part of the original germ of an idea or something you discover over time? Is the same true of figuring out if it's a YA audience or for adults (as though adults can't be the YA audience), or is that more of a publishing aspect of the process?

Thank you!

message 142: by Laura (new)

Laura Ms. Rowell,

Can you tell us about any current projects you are working on? I know you'll also be writing 2 graphic novels-- any hints on what the style, mood, or story for those will be?

And since you seem to love and really embrace pop culture and media, what's your favorite gif?

Thanks.

message 143: by Duane (last edited May 29, 2014 06:35PM) (new)

Duane Parker (tduaneparkeryahoocom) Was the chacters name in Fangirl, Cather, inspired by writer Willa Cather?

message 144: by Abi (new)

Abi (booknerdbtw) You're probably not going to tell us, but for the people who have read Eleanor and Park, we'd really like to know what those 3 words that Eleanor tells to Park at the end of the novel. Is it possible that you'd give us a clue as to what she says?

message 145: by Gabby (new)

Gabby Gonzalez | 2 comments I love your books, and I love how you say your a reader too so what's your favorite books?

message 146: by Gabby (new)

Gabby Gonzalez | 2 comments I love Eleanor and Park and I know you had the idea to start writing a sequel to it. I'm curious if you still planned to leave Eleanor and Park where they were or to write a sequel. Either way I love Eleanor and Park.

message 147: by Gabby (new)

Gabby (gabriellaglad) | 7 comments Will you ever reveal the three words?!?

message 148: by maureen (last edited Jun 01, 2014 03:26PM) (new)

maureen I really enjoyed Eleanor and Park, a beautiful story, and fell in love with your writing.
Q: What was the writing process of Landline like and how was it different for each of your novels particularly going into this story from your previous work?
Also: What movie/book/song do you go to when you're sad or always manages to give you inspire and motivate you?

message 149: by Nayan (new)

Nayan S. (nayanfire) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow!

I loved both Eleanor and Park and Fangirl, and really was able to connect with both Eleanor and Cath A LOT. I've also noticed that you set all your books in Omaha, Nebraska. I've read in your author bio that that's where you live-do you choose Omaha as your setting because of familiarity, or is it because of something else? Also, I really like how both Cath and Eleanor both have some body issues, like normal women do. Do you feel like this is an important thing to have in literature?

Also one last question: In a zombie apocalypse, would you attack the zombies, run away and hide, protect your family, or pretend you're a zombie so the other zombies won't go after you?

message 150: by Jacy (new)

Jacy (jcjean) | 1 comments Hey Rainbow,

Love your books and love your name! My question for you is "If you had the chance to write the Simon Snow series, would you?" I know that it's a spoof of Harry Potter, but I would like to read the whole thing.
