Hi Rainbow!
I am such a huge fan of your writing. The first ever book of yours that i have ever read was Eleanor and Park. Fangirl is by far the most relatable book. i've ever read! I am a young writer and you are one of my inspirations. I was wondering, which authors do you look up to whilst writing a book! <3

message 52: by Al (new)

Al Smith | 1 comments In Eleanor & Park, Eleanor has her gym clothes thrown in the toilet. She thinks it is the same people writing her mean notes on her books (presumably, Tina and her friends). However, we later find out the person writing the mean notes is in fact her stepfather Richie, and Tina is generally amiable to Eleanor when she is trying to avoid Richie. Who threw Eleanor's clothes in the toilet?

message 53: by Natalie (new)

Natalie I read Eleanor & Park and it was very good. Where did you get your inspiration for this book? And are there any other young adult books by you?

Rowan 👩🏼‍🌾 (rowsiie) | 1 comments Hey Rainbow!

What about Landline, do you think, will intrigue readers most?

Brianna | briannas_books (briannasbooks5) I read Eleanor and Park this past January and it helped me get out of a huge reading slump!!! Thank you!

Q: Out of all the books you have written, which one did you have the most fun creating?

message 56: by Pamela (new)

Pamela Ferreyra (pamfromtheblock) Hi, I'm Pamela from Argentina and I wanted to know if all of your books will be translate into spanish and if you're planning to come here and make a book signing. It would be freaking amazing <3

Daniela Florez I loved E&P and I absolutley loved the music!! I made a mixtape, a real one actually. Looking foward to read Landline.

Q: Name your favorite song of all times?

message 58: by Angela (new)

Angela | 2 comments Being that all of your stories are very different from each other in their own way, what inspired you to write this specific story and what are you hoping we, as readers, will take away from it?

message 59: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Plante | 2 comments Hi Rainbow!

So, my question is: Which books are easier to write? Young adult or adult? Why?

P.S.: I'm a huge fan of your books! My favorite one is Fangirl,it was the first time that I could really identify myself in one of the character.

message 60: by Rowie (new)

Rowie | 1 comments Hey, Rainbow!
One of the reasons I love your books so much is that the characters you create are completely unique (and have a unique personality) yet realistic and also the growing relationships between them. How do you come up with your characters? And is it easy to write their growing relationships?

message 61: by Alessia (new)

Alessia (agrio_books) | 1 comments I LOVE your stories! They are SOOO adorable, I can never put them down! Have you ever thought of writing a series?

message 62: by Cera (new)

Cera | 2 comments Hello Rainbow! My name is Cera! I absolutely love your books. I love the fact that I can relate to each character in your books even when the character has a complete opposite personality than me. So, what in Landline do you think will make your readers relate to your characters?

Emilyscherrygmail.com | 1 comments I teach high school English and I have loved recommending your books to your students-- they always seem to connect with them on such a personal level. I have to admit that I do as well. They seem to transcend the genre of YA. So, my question comes from my students (and myself), do you see a sequel to any of your books? I only ask because there is such a sense of loss when they're finished... especially E & P. Or, when you are finished with a novel is there a sense of completion-- that the character's story is "finished"?

message 64: by Calista (new)

Calista Fung (ladyrye) Hi Rainbow,

I really enjoyed Fangirl because aside from the cute love story, I felt most strongly about the relationship between Cather and Wren. As a sister myself, I felt like you really captured many aspects of a sibling relationship that are real to me. I especially loved the final piece Cather wrote about hide and seek.

My question for you: what was the hardest part about developing the relationship between the two twins and why did you choose to develop their story in Fangirl the way you did?

I'm looking forward to future works from you! All the best, and thank you for all the wonderful stories.

message 65: by Mia (new)

Mia Ingui | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! I feel so blessed that I get to leave a comment for you. I aspire to be an author and your novels are a reflection of exactly what I would love to write. I've read Eleanor&Park and Fangirl, thoroughly enjoying each. I think your writing and your characters are brilliant as well as relatable, and I look forward to reading the rest of your titles! Thank you honestly for creating such great works and PLEASE continue writing more of them.

message 66: by Zoe (new)

Zoe Moore (zoemoore66) Hi, Rainbow. I recently read Fangirl and was a big fan! I am also a very keen writer and have had many ideas for characters and stories etc but have never really known how to develop them into fully-fledged characters or how to develop and idea into a story with a thought-out plot. I was wondering what you do after you've had an idea - how do you go about developing and enchanting an idea? What are the steps you go through?
Thank you so much for taking the time to hopefully read my question!

message 67: by Toby (new)

Toby Finke (tobyf) Without spoiling any books, can you please compare this book to any other novels, like your young adult books are a lot like John Greens's work.

message 68: by Lisetta (new)

Lisetta (lisetta_r) What if any research do you do before / writing a book ? Oh and how do you do it ?
Love your writing :-)

Stjernekaster Hi there,
thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.

I was wondering what your motivation is for writing?

message 71: by Amy (new)

Amy Seagrave (announcingamy) Hi Rainbow, excited to meet you again this summer! How did you prepare yourself to write for adults rather than for a young adult audience when sitting down for this book and how did that differ from your other books?

message 72: by Victoria (new)

Victoria V (victoriax) | 1 comments Hi Rainbow!!
I absolutely just love you and the way you write, you make the book come to life in just how amazing you describe everything. Eleanor & Park is my all time favourite of course! I've read it at least 8 times- I'm not even joking. Because of that book I discovered The Smiths, Joy Division and others who I now love so much and always listen to whenever I pick up Eleanor & Park and start reading it, again. I can honestly say you are my all time favourite author! The way you write is just perfection! I think Eleanor & Park should definitely become a movie because then it would automatically become my all time favourite movie for sure! I entered the contest to see if I could possibly win a copy of Landline signed by you and I hope I do because I know it will be great just as all of your other books.
I have two questions to ask and I would love to be able to hear your answer:
- what/who is your ultimate inspiration for all that you've written?
- what happens with Eleanor and with Park? do they ever meet again? what were those three little words that she responded with?

okay sorry that was actually four hah!

much love and very thankful- victoria :-)

message 73: by Delaney (new)

Delaney Butterfield (delaneybutterfield) Hi Rainbow! I know that most authors become authors because of their love for reading. Well, if so, then what's one of your favorite books or one that got you into reading and/or writing?

P.S. Landline comes out on my birthday!

message 74: by Sara (new)

Sara Santana | 1 comments I absolutely love all your books and I love that you write both YA and adult. Do you find it difficult to switch from a teen voice to an adult voice, and what helps with that?

message 75: by Madeleine (new)

Madeleine | 2 comments Hi! Maybe this is to personal for you to answer but I just want to know if you have experienced something similar to what Eleanor went thru with her family? You wrote it with such empathy and you ticked all the boxes of feelings and thoughts that you goes thru when something like that is happening in your family. I haven't gone thru the exact same thing but something similar so I could relate to it on so many levels! Loved your other book Fangirl too so I'm looking forward to the new book!!

message 76: by Bea Valero (new)

Bea Valero | 1 comments Hi!!
I'm a from Spain and I've read your book Eleanor and Park and I've just loved it, I'm a really big fan! :)
What made you decided to write or to become a writer? It was something that you'd always dreamed o or it just happened? Any advice for young writers?
Thanks!!!

I love your books (fangirl is my secretly favorite), so my quetsion is: Who is your inspiration and how do you find your idea's for your books?

message 80: by Lia (new)

Lia | 1 comments Hi Rainbow! I've read Elanor and Park, Fangirl, and will soon be reading Landlines. I know you musthave heard this an infinite number of times, but . . . YOUR BOOKS ARE COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY ADORABLE.They make me feelings run like melted marshmallow.

Sorry about that. Here's my question: Both Elanor and Park and Fangirl felt as if they had abrupt endings. Is it done purposely? As if to say that the characters wanted privacy after the ending?

message 81: by Vauny (new)

Vauny | 1 comments Hi Rainbow,

I wanted to know if you have any plans to write a sequel to fangirl?

message 82: by Samia (new)

message 89: by Ray (new)

Ray (justcallmeray) | 1 comments What do you think about Fangirl fanfiction?

message 90: by Erin Lynn (new)

Erin Lynn | 15 comments Hi, Rainbow.

First of all, I am desperately trying to get my hands on a copy of Landline because the synopsis seems interesting, and because I pretty much devoured all of your other books.

My question for you is:
How do you possibly fit all of your pop culture references in your books? Do they just come out as you're writing or do you know what references you want to use before you write?

I love reading them because of all of the references. Reading your stories reminds me so much of watching my favorite TV show, Gilmore Girls, so thank you for that. :)

I would definitely remind you of the Fault In Our Stars in that books belong to their reader, you get to decide what happened

I just bought that, I'm reading Legend but Fangirl is next

message 93: by Kimmie (new)

Kimmie Hey Rainbow!

I've just finished reading 'Eleanor & Park' the other day and am currently enjoying reading through 'Fangirl'. One thing that struck me and I loved a lot in E&P was the use of music and comics between the two characters that helped their friendship and relationship grow. Were these shared interests something that you yourself are passionate about? -- other than writing of course!

Also, as a little fun question, if you were to make a mix tape for someone who doesn't listen to much music yourself like Park did for Eleanor, what three songs would you absolutely include on the tape?

Very excited to see that you have another book coming out soon, and I'll definitely be checking it out in the future! :)

message 94: by Lauren (last edited May 29, 2014 02:53PM) (new)

Lauren Stoolfire Hello Rainbow! Thanks for coming to answer some of our questions! So far I've read Fangirl and I'm really looking forward to Eleanor & Park, Attachments, and Landline. I loved Fangirl and I'm not normally all that interested in contemporary romance but the characters in Fangirl are what really drew me in. They are all realistically screwed up and engaging.

My question (one that I hope hasn't been asked too many times here) is this: Is there a chance that we will, perhaps, ever see any more of the World of Mages?

Thanks again!

message 95: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Love your books!

As a writer, I'm interested to know: How long does it take you to complete a novel? What's your writing process like? Do you have a goal for each day?

message 96: by BookWorm 221 (new)

BookWorm 221 | 2 comments Hi Rainbow!

I was wondering, with Dreamworks buying the movie right for Eleanor and Park, how do you feel about it and how much you hope or expect to be involved in the script or on choosing the actors to play such an awesome characters? do you have anyone in mind?

Thanks So Much!!

Kaela (kaelareadsandrants) I'm a big fan of your work, especially Eleanor & Park. I was just curious where you got the inspiration for a book like this and who are some of your favorite authors that you read as a kid that you think shaped your love for writing?

message 99: by Fatma (new)

Fatma | 1 comments Hi
I'm a new fan of you Rainbow! I have just finished reading your book fangirl AND OMG I LOVED IT *fangirling*. When I read it I could literally point out a person for each character in the book. But the character that I related the the most with was was Levi (his personality). What character is more like you, what character do you identifie the most with?

message 100: by Sashana (last edited May 29, 2014 02:56PM) (new)

Sashana Q: You've written young adult fiction and adult fiction. I also heard rumors that you are planning to write a graphic novel. What other genre(s) do you hope to write in the future? Also, can you share a few of your favorite graphic novel titles?
