I'm trying to follow through with my resolution to NOT be so driven with my JAFF obsession. Hubby has been complaining about a lack of balance, and he's completely correct, of course. So I'm out in the world a little more, trying to push my OCD instincts aside!

Good luck with that. It's great that you have a husband that will help you. Just breath deeply. You can do this. It is one step at a time, one day at a time. We are here for you and support you all the way. Thank goodness you have a lot that will distract you, grandchild, singing engagements, golf... and a plethora or other things to distract you from the elephant in the room. Don't look at him. You can do this.

So I'm out in..."There are things we must pay attention to, i.e., grocery shopping, cooking, laundry, as well as cleaning once in a blue moon...LOL. With it being 2 of us (usually) we have a lot of left overs, which my husband hates but it is difficult to find and cook meat for only 2 servings. Unless you do cheeseburgers or spaghetti & meatballs. But as my husband still works part time and golfs as much as he can and/or the weather allows, he is more than happy that I read. I just wish for you that whatever you do you find enjoyment in such. How's that grandson?
Sheila,much as I applaud your decision to watch Colin (who in their right mind wouldn't?!), I don't know how you have the patience to watch Lost! I watched it at the beginning,telling myself I wouldn't miss an episode. However I quickly got lost,confused and just didn't have the patience to continue with it. I still don't know what caused the crash........!!
With you Mary, never got into Lost. So, I'm lost as to what Lost was all about. Couldn't handle the previews let alone the series. Nope, I passed on that one.
As to LOST - my daughter, age: 37, is "into" all types of sci-fi and fantasy and she decided that we would "bond" over this. I do like her comments and insights as she knows where this is going. I gave her several opinions: one being that I really have no emotional investment in this series as it, like Game of Thrones, is just as apt to kill off main characters. Secondly there is no "romance" that you watch develop and invest emotions in as in my JAFF stories. And with so many layers and unreal "time-travel" that you don't know are time-traveling episodes at first it is easy to get lost!!!! your self. On top of that you have flash backs as well as flash forwards and sometimes it is very confusing. But is does allow my daughter and me to sit and talk together rather then her on her computer or reading her books and me doing the same and rarely talking.
A bonding session with your daughter? Great idea! Who cares if you're lost watching the programme,you may find more common ground with your adult daughter that's far more important!
I remember watching the debut and a couple of episodes of Lost when it first aired. Got too weird for us pretty quickly and we abandoned it. But, hey, if your daughter wants to bond watching it, go for it!Finally had our (very) delayed Christmas with little Sam and his parents last Thursday. Hubby and I were sick with nasty colds right after we got home from Seattle and were too miserable to make the trip and/or expose them to our germs for a while. Sam's a happy little butterball. Lots of smiling and giggling. Adorable!

5 The Essence of Love: A Pride & Prejudice Novella VariationAgain a very nice ending to the series. Even thou they are stand alone books they do progress from the same point. I especially loved the col at the very end

Good reading, Lenora! I often hesitate on getting short books that aren't available on Kindle Unlimited when they seem expensive. I see this one is only 81 pages and costs $3.99. It's gotta be a GREAT book for me to want to spend that much for such a short read.
I so agree, Debbie. The price for a short story like that ensures that I will pass it over with so much more available on Kindle Unlimited, free on fanfiction or A Happy Assembly or even low prices or sale prices for others.

I have more to..."Lovely photos. I visited Bath in the Spring of 2004 with my husband but at the time had not learned of the Jane Austen Society. I did visit the Jane Austen Centre while my husband visited a pub. I remember lots of hills.
Oh yes Sheila. There were lots of hills!!! I have pics from the Jane Austen Centre but that blasted bug is stopping me putting up any more. I spent an hour and a half last night trying to sort it (when I should have been reading). What a waste.

It was incredible Mary!! A weekend I'll never forget. I owe it all to my daughter (in the blue dress). She arranged everything and had lots organised to do. I can't tell you how I felt standing at Jane's grave. Just being there. I'm not one for travel at all so never thought I'd see it. That's a photo I can't yet upload.
Do you mean? - She was buried in the Cathedral, a building she greatly admired. Her modest funeral was attended by just four people, and took place early in the morning, before services began.She lies under the floor of the north aisle of the nave, where you can still see her simple gravestone. The inscription recorded her personal virtues and stoicism, but made no mention of her writing.
I visited that site while in England.
It's certainly sounds incredible,Teresa!! Did you take the guided tour or walk around by yourself? I think Winchester is such a beautiful place to visit. And of course,seeing Jane's grave stone is really very special. I'm really glad you got to visit there. I remember you were so excited at the thought of being there!
Winchester Mary, was literally a flying visit on the way back to the airport. My daughter only hit me with it when we woke that morning. A last surprise! I would love to have had a couple of hours in the Cathedral. It looked fabulous. Maybe someday I'll get back. We did some guided tours in Bath. On the Sunday morning I couldn't get the girls up so headed out on my own. Went down around Sidney gardens and saw the places Jane lived in. I was in Heaven!!

I still remember the throne on which so many were crowned being there also.

I just finished reading an unpublished book: A Singular Proposition

It is 346 pages long when I copied and pasted it onto a document in order to increase the font size for my reading. It is a P&P variation and for MA only. Written in 2006 it is another story in which Elizabeth becomes the companion to Georgiana at the suggestion of Anne de Bourgh, this time. (Mr. Bennet has died and Jane has married Mr. Collins.) The story has some elements of Jane Eyre...IMHO.
Darcy fall in LUST with Elizabeth and in a drunken stupor puts moves on her which cause her to flee Pemberley in the middle of the night with Anne helping her get to the posting station. She falls deathly ill and is allowed a room in an inn, but nears death.
I loved the story and am waiting for the author to finish Strange Bedfellows.

I am presently reading a modern day take-off of P&P, titled Dance the Tide - unpublished. But it's over 2000 pages so you won't see me posting any books read for a while.
