Nice going. None yesterday but I might manage a couple today, hopefully. We shall see. I’m looking at some shorts right now, and I’m not sure whether to try and plot the ruddy things or just jump in and start writing.
1392_today. Rocking on! I need to as there's so much on this week and the coming weekend that writing time will be as scarce as hens' teeth.
Just over 1k. At a weekend. In the garden. It’s a new short and I am liking it. Woot! There’s another one on the way, too. Cheers

go Mary :-)
Had a busy weekend doing stuff regarding the impending move and for K to spend time with grandchildren. But that's just as well since I'm having trouble with the next scene. Can't get it right in my head
Only 413 words but it's keeping the story moving. Got a busy few days so I thought it was important to crack on, even for a short session.

I missed something? Did your house sell? Or are you going, regardless?
I can't wait to getting back to my scenes giving me that kind of trouble. This moving/selling/buying stuff, though necessary, takes way too much time.

Congratulations - that's progress.
Holy shizzle! Wrote 1k today. Dead chuffed with that. Am hoping it will be a 10k short. If it is, it’s shaping up nicely. If it’s longer, I’ll be in a bit of a pickle as it’s for Christmas Lites and the deadline is 30th August. I have some thing up my sleeve I could use for that though.Go Benjamin and Kath! Congrats, Will, and Go Alicia, sell sell sell!
Cheers

800. Definitely procrastinated but luckily realised what I was doing in time to sit down and get some writing in. It's very waffly and a bit shite but I'm on 4,819 on day three. Hoping I can get it finished this month. I can work quite fast when I know where it's going. It's just that I don't always.Am now even wondering if I'll be able to get another one in the bag before the end of term - although I've had two weeks off going to Sussex so I've been able to collect my thoughts a lot more efficiently than usual. It might all change when I go back to breaking up the week with my Wednesday Sussex trip next week.
We'll see.

Sneaking up on it, eh? It works!773 this morning. Off to do some weeding - sneak up on those and see what happens!
I have brown fingers, too Will, in gardening terms, I mean.1,600 today. It just crept up on me.
Cheers

Will wrote: "I get so depressed that I am better at growing weeds than I am at growing plants"I'm no longer physically capable of doing much weeding, but I enjoyed a beautiful perennial garden for years (and much work). Now it will be someone else's - and I won't even think about it. Things literally and figuratively have their seasons.
So true, Alicia. Benjamin, it’s 300 words that weren’t there the previous day.Had a packed day yesterday, went to a forces day event in the local park and built models with McMini but to my joy, still hit my target of 1000 words. I have nearly finished a 10k short. Just need to add the finishing touches and, maybe, ramp up the tension a bit!
Cheers

As I was gigging all weekend, nothing added. But a lot of interesting dreams that will be a great help this week.(Interesting in this context meaning colourful explosions in space)
Did 800 yesterday and I think I’ve sort of finished the 10k short but it’s 13k and will probably be about 15k when I’m done ... so I need to write another one for the anthology now. I reckon if I aim for 5k and hit six it might work!
It's always something.Yesterday, I destroyed my Mac's just about everything. I'm playing games and doing this just to keep myself from making the disaster bigger.
Backed up - I thought - in several places. None of which I dare touch until there is some thinking and I'm less tired. There is probably hope of getting a lot of stuff back, but I still don't understand why Mail is doing what it does, so I will try to learn that first.
Just taking a break from really thinking.
Oh dear ... afraid I know nowt about Macs, Windows is bad enough.Am slogging on with the book edit. Don't know why everything takes so long these days ....
Go Benjamin and Kath, comiserations Alicia and keep going Pam!Managed 800 yesterday, finished the short but it's too long for the anthology it's for so I've started another one.
Just over 500 today but I only had 20 minutes.
Cheers

Kath wrote: "Sounds the right length to publish by itself, Mary."I aim at between 18,000 and 25,000 words for the Port Naain Intelligencer stories
It seems to be a nice length
That's a novella then, Jim. 17,5000 to 40,000, they say. Mary's is a jolly decent short story, or even a novelette. Just wish that word didn't sound so twee.
For size I found thisShort fiction: under 7,500 words. Novelette: 7,500-17,500 words. Novella: 17,500-40,000 words. Novel: 40,000 words and up
However the wiki says
Novelette may refer to:
A novella, especially with trivial or sentimental themes
A narrative work of prose fiction shorter than a novella and longer than a short story
Novelette (music), short piece of lyrical music
I suspect the 'trivial or sentimental themes' might colour the other meanings of the term
But yes, I've just put the finishing touches to the next Tallis Steelyard Novella :-)It's now sit quietly for a few months until I can read through it again without knowing what I meant to say
And then I'll do the final edit and it'll be ready for proof reading
Flower arranging, horse theft and steam ship engineering feature as well as poetry
