✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 2602 comments Well the good thing is, I always have paper on hand now :) and there's nothing quite like a fountain pen for scribbling with (yes, I have heard the comments that my class mates haven't seen a fountain pen for years!!).
I'm still going for the 'write it in little bits, put them in order, then flesh it out better' method. It seems to be working better than my last attempts!!

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 800-ish. If I could stick to a single book I'd finish them faster!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments I've only done about 100 but it's Monday and I never get anything done until I've got all the chores out of the way on Friday!

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Woot over 1k done in an hour. I'll leave it there now as it's homework at gunpoint time.

;-)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Me at trigger end, McMini at t'other. We did it though. He's done his weekly book assignment. We can do the next one next Monday. With any luck I can persuade him to read a few more chapters tomorrow. He loved it but he's kind of run out of steam.

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments Zero. For days. Sister came to visit from Mexico City and sucked up all the energy I don't have. Lovely visit.

It's kind of fun - I never would have met her if we hadn't been two years apart in the same family. She speaks at the UN and to presidents, I rarely leave the house. Someone called her the most extroverted person they had ever met, I'm an extreme introvert.

Trying to recover, and hoping to write tomorrow. I have the time, just no brain cells to rub together.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Hope a rest sorts that Alicia, I get like that too sometimes.

Not sure how much I wrote but I did some work on the long K'Barthan book. It's getting there. I need to get more familiar with the concept, work out the big scenes and join them together. It could also go two ways at the moment, simple or not so simple but to my joy the simple approach looks as if it will work best.

Off to the parents today so I will have forgotten the whole lot by the time I get another run at it like that. Never mind.

message 1460: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments minus a tedious 600, plus 200 much more interesting ones. Final tweak but one. Got to the point where I'm thinking I wish I could end it.

message 1461: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Did plotting. Yeh. I know. What's got into me. Think, maybe, I have two shorter books rather than one big one. Not sure.

message 1462: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Today I wrote a massive fuck off blog post which, I hope, is funny.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Woot! 2133 on the family tales book. Now lunch and I might get a couple of minutes to work on plotting the K'Barthan novel before school pick up.

message 1467: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 28! Haha! Well, I'm editing a nearly finished book so I'm really just tweaking sentences.

message 1468: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Nice going on the book. Have been foiled in the planning because I'm out of post its ... have the wall ready but ... so tomorrow for that.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Just added over 5K in the last two days. Might have overcome the story block that was holding me back.

message 1470: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Excellent! About 120 here but I'm just titivating.

message 1471: by Will (new)

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Today I wrote ... a job application. Does that count?

message 1472: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Only if it's fiction. ;)

message 1473: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Is it fantasy, though Will?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Is this the real life.....

Will Once (willonce) | 3772 comments Let's call it augmented reality...

message 1476: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Today I plotted a book ... I think. It isn't finished but the framework to hang the rest onto is definitely in place.

I also worked out some crowdfunding tiers for the eyebombing book.

message 1477: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Yesterday, I wrote a 1.7k blog post. ;-) And did more plotting.

message 1480: by Angel (last edited Oct 03, 2017 07:10AM) (new)

Angel | 13 comments I've written 16, 542 words (57 pages/17 chapters) and have 13, 458 more to go and the first of my sci-fi fantasy/mixed/multi-genre trilogy will be done. Already titled and characters already well-developed as well as setting, time place, plot, pacing, etc.

message 1481: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Nice going everyone. Plotted a book. 6k in all, 3 today and 3 last week! Woot! Not fully finished but I have a great deal more of an idea of where it's going.

Cheers

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Added another 500 yesterday.

I'm not bothering with Nano, is anyone else?

message 1483: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Actually, I think I may this time. I have a scene list. It isn't quite there yet but if its ready to go before the start date I will definitely write the book - or at least some of it. Also trying to plan some shorts and if I do the family stories one it'll reach 50k no problem. So long as I'm able to do catch up on Wednesdays and weekends when I can't get near a computer.

message 1484: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Not this time. I'm writing something quite intense at the moment so I want to sneak up on it, not go at it like a bull at a gate.

message 1485: by David (new)

David Hadley Just finished the current first draft of (working title) Unfolding the Gift - this morning. I've been doing abut 1000 words a day on it recently.

it is about 67000 words, but then I tend to add to the 1st draft rather than cut in subsequent drafts.

message 1486: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh, well done!

message 1487: by David (new)

David Hadley Kath wrote: "Oh, well done!"

Thanks.

Now I get to have a break for the rest of the week, before starting the next 1st draft on the list next week.

message 1488: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Woot well done everyone. Not much today, indeed, none but my non fiction work, Setting Tripwires for Granny and other tall family tales, is going well. ;-)

Cheers

message 1490: by David (new)

David Hadley Over 1000 words each day yesterday and today on the new 1st draft.

Plus almost the same on the rewriting of the start of the current 2nd draft.

I even spelt some of them proper.

message 1491: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Top going everyone! Today I tried to make a video for my Patreon page. After the second day of trying I realised that I should not do a video with me in it unless someone else films it. In fact I should probably use photos and a voice over. Friday, I have two hours to write something.

message 1492: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Just dusting this thread of for ... Dan dun daaaaaaargh! NANO.

Who's with me?

message 1493: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Not this year, sorry. Got a busy November lined up and I'm part way through a book too.

message 1494: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Boo... i have too but nano is a good incentivisation if that's a word.

message 1495: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Lawston (andrewlawston) | 1774 comments 900-ish over lunch. Trying to gear up for NaNo, but I found myself working on another Bernede translation, for reasons I can't even begin to fathom.

best sort of reasons :-)

message 1497: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Translated words are still words.

message 1498: by Alicia (new)

Alicia Ehrhardt (aliciabutcherehrhardt) | 4832 comments 800 or so words today which, since they're written in blood, count.

My biggest problem seems to be having a previous draft. I really have to stop looking at those, but they always seem to have a few good bits, and of course I worked hard on them...

From now on, I'm going to go through the old text, make a SHORT list of any ideas I want to keep, and stay completely away from the rest.

message 1499: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Got a work work project that really needed to be finished last week (or there's no Christmas), & theres at least 100 hours of texturing & rendering still to do. Then the next project is already behind schedule and I haven't even started it yet. Plus we're staging Julius Caesar next month (so that's another 10 days out).

Pretty much Situation Normal then!

message 1500: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Tim, I'm surprised you manage to write anything, ever.
