M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Just stopping now. Up to 11114 which means today's grand total is 1837! Yay, this word count thread thing is an amazing incentive!

Sorry to hear you had to work Will. That's pants. Nice one Patti, phnark. Did you type any phrases ending in 'off'?

message 52: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Not wishing to vote but today I wrote 5,800 words of Tallis Steelyard, or rather his account of one of Shena's adventures.
I'd worked out the story yesterday so I just had to write it and for once people have left me along so I had an hour this morning, two this afternoon and two this evening :-)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Nice going Jim! Sounds like today was a bit of a gift. I'm kind of in the same boat. I know what's happening in this one and it's just a case of putting what's happening in my head on the page. It's going to be more than 20k though.

message 54: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments This one was designed to be less than that, I hoped it would be in under 6000K words.
But it was a good day from the writing point of view

So it's over 6k? But you're still nearly there with 5.8. ;-) I'm so tempted to do some more on mine but I'm just having a quick shufty at the computer before bed now, so I can't.

message 56: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Oh, it's lovely when that happens. I had that once with the Battle of Waterloo!

6 million words? Blimey that's a big 'un! (as the actress said to the bishop . . .)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments I'm going to try and get some writing done later. There will be nothing tomorrow, as I'm at the Llandeilo book fair all day.

message 59: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments I only have an hour today, then it's the weekend and I've left four poor girls in caveman suits stuck down a drain so I really have to go and get them out!

Cheers

MTM

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments In the book, I trust!

message 61: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Lexie! Don't spoil it!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I am picturing Mary dressed in a plumber outfit pulling the girls out of the drain! Brandishing her plunger in one hand :)

message 63: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3334 comments Not actually adding a word count at present as I'm still editing the mammoth fantasy novel - or at least I was up to the end of November. Christmas preps have currently taken over so the only writng is cards and notes.

message 64: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments I have written about 250 words today - it was all a bit busy - so the poor ladies are still stuck down the drain.

I did have the kind of day that folks would declare unrealistic if I put it in a book it was splendid!

Thank you GL that is exactly what I look like. :-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Remember... I have met you in real life... ;) If she shoved a couple of coconuts down her front...

message 66: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Actually, looking at her, she'd probably need footballs, and a mattress to wrap around her waist. Phnark.

message 67: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments OK, about 300 words yesterday and today another 500 or so which brings it all up to 11735! Woot.

message 68: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments up to 2300 words for the short story which is pretty much all of them. Now just to arrange them in the correct order

message 69: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Nice! Hope the rearranging goes well! I'm thinking I have a couple of scenes in the wrong order so there will be a bit of rejigging for me today, or tomorrow if McMini is too exciteable for me to get to it today.

message 70: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I'm reading through the story I abandoned for NaNo so I may or may not add some words today depending on how long the read-through takes.

message 71: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Added 237 words. Not my best word count! But I'm only up to Ch 5 and still have stuff to read, and new chapters to write. It's a start.

message 72: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Is this one we're going to see in print, Kath?

message 73: by Kath (last edited Dec 12, 2016 01:50AM) (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I think it's going to end up as a novella. Genre Sci-fi. Yes, I think it'll be out there eventually. Got other things before it in the queue, though.

message 74: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Goodie!

message 75: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments I also managed to write 2 new flash fiction pieces this weekend, even though my focus was supposed to be on the short story. I'll take them though... You can read one here on my blog "Suicide Note" http://sulcicollective.blogspot.co.uk...

message 76: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Nothing over the weekend. A book fair at llandeilo on Saturday, and down with the Lurgi sunday

message 77: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments book fair lurgi
comes from kissing too many groupies

message 78: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Nothing achieved over the weekend but a plan... But a plan is at least half the battle. ;-) Would be nice to finish before the holidays ... I have five 'working' days. So that's 7.5 hours. I might do it ... I might ... We shall see. ;-)

Cheers

MTM

message 79: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I've added 788 to the current project today. As I enjoyed that, I shall punish myself (for balance) by writing Christmas cards!

message 80: by David (new)

David Hadley 919 words today, plus probably a hundred or so added to the project notes for the next draft.

message 81: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Nice going David and Kath.

1,000 ... just! So it's up to 12675. Might have to delete a chunk though, it went off in the wrong direction. I've left the tangent in place for now, because it might come in handy later in a slightly altered format.

Now off to do the school run. Not sure I'll finish it before the Christmas writing embargo comes down. eeeee it's going to be touch and go.

Cheers

MTM

message 82: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments We should have a daily running total! I make it 2,607 today: if we divide that between the thread's subscribers we're probably on something like 130 words each! I feel a glowing sense of achievement.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Does that include random urine-extractors?

message 84: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Why not? I think we should all share in their success (though I'm saying that because apart from a very silly poem for a drinks party I've written nothing today, and even that wasn't finished).

message 85: by Gingerlily - The Full Wild (last edited Dec 12, 2016 09:02AM) (new)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Words are shared by all
Some write them and some read them
Some make much money.

message 86: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Do you know a word that rhymes with 'fierce', though?

message 87: by Gingerlily - The Full Wild (last edited Dec 12, 2016 08:53AM) (new)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Pierce? Tierce?

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Not sure you would be able to use 'tierce' though, as it has quite a specialised meaning - "an organ stop sounding two octaves and a major third above the pitch of the diapason."

message 89: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I've played the organ in my checquered past. I've dealt with a tierce.
Nice haiku, GL.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Thanks Kath, although I had to change the last line as it had too many syllables.

message 91: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Yes, thought of those, but couldn't fit them in. Ended up changing the verse entirely. I'd forgotten how much I liked doing silly poems for parties, but also forgotten how much time they take up - but it's 514 words so far!

message 92: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Yes, I like the haiku!

message 93: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Ooo loving the haiku. :-)I wish I was the one making much money rather than writing much words.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Maybe I should change that to 'Few make much money'.

message 95: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Yep. That's truer to life. :-)

message 96: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments But making much money *and* writing much words would be very good indeed!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Much good!!

message 98: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8049 comments Maybe just change it to No-one makes money.

;-)

message 99: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Monopoly make money...

message 100: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments 570 words today. This is the 'going over it the first time' edit, so it's expanding quite nicely - but I've read more than I've written! Standing at 18361. Novella.
