Today I mostly wrote ... the word count thread.

Oh, and I've been invited to submit stories to two anthologies. The horror one, fine, but the erotica? Errrrrrrr

you've met his ex?"
The rumours have spread ...

I think it probably would be. And best avoided.

Yesterday and today 600-odd words each.

Well done everyone. Nothing yesterday as I had my writers' group round. Made the mistake of reading them something I hadn't edited so they pointed out all the mistakes that I'd already spotted. Won't do that again, it was a waste of their time and a good opportunity. I haven't edited anything much for weeks though, I've been trying to crack on.

I would have liked to have gone to this but only found out about it earlier this week! Who are you seeing Lexie?

Were they about the Spanish Inquisition?"
No but they were about three things, no, four things, no FIVE things ... etc.

So far seen Denzil Meyrick and Kate London talking to Stuart McBride re being ex police officers, Doug Johnstone and Sarah Ward talking allegedly about setting, though they wandered completely (but it was still good), a conversation with Stuart again and one with Chris Brookmyre, then today a discussion between Chris, Doug, Kate and Kati someone Finnish about planning versus seat of pants writing. Three more tomorrow!

It sounds brilliant, and quite focussed on writing rather than folks who are famous for other things flogging their spin-off books. ;-) hope the weather up there is nicer than here though.
I haven't written anything yet, today, but I did take some eyebomb photos for the new non fiction book.
Cheers

Well, it is a crime fiction festival! Actually, it's my first one so I wasn't sure what to expect. Liked it when a guy asking a question described himself as being in the Highland League of writers (meaning people like me, indie ebook types)! I wonder how many of us sitting innocently in the audience are closet crime writers, too?

Ah ha, yes, that would explain it. I am thinking of trying Norcon - which is a sci fi and fantasy festival that happens in Norwich (not far from me).

Bit of both. ;-)
I still haven't done any work on my book but I wrote a 1k blog post. So that's nice.

There is this line I have since the original draft, and it still is the center of this scene (no, not one of my darlings which need killing).

Elizabeth wrote: "Alicia, you are a tease!"
Okay. It isn't QUITE in its final form, and you are not situated, but here it is:
Storr leaned back against the pillows, comfortably relaxed against the side of Cecily's leg, his arm around her waist, but silent, giving Andrew time to think. Cecily stroked her husband's hair, wrapping a curl about her finger.
The gesture was so intimate it made Andrew uncomfortable.

I love looking back at my old ideas - I bought an A4 blue leatherbound book when I was about ten, just before secondary school (a very long time ago), and began putting ideas in it. It's a big book and still not full, referred to fondly as 'The Blue Book', and I still add to it and browse through it for ideas - though of course some of them are completely dud!

But I've had the germ of an idea for a High Fantasy, which I swore I'd never write...

I'm ignorant of these subtleties - what is High Fantasy?

Dragons, medieval civilisation and women going into battle with three pot lids covering their bits beside men in full armour! Phnark.

Not Jim's collie?"
Not unless it has a habit of wandering off into other people's narratives.
This one just appeared out of nowhere when the protagonist opened her garden gate several hundred words ago and has been hanging around ever since.
