Sounds like the plot from a coming of age teen movie circa the 1980's....For a book plot, I wouldn't have the faintest idea, sorry!
could be part of a short story... I'm certain it's relatively early king though.remembering a little more... kid has a crush on this older girl. He hangs out at the pool hall to be close to her. He is warned to stay away from her, but he can't help himself. Girl ends up kissing him, and he gets severely beaten for it.
The only King story that comes close to that is Hearts in Atlantics

I know it's not Hearts, (which I read about 10 years ago)... It's something I've read in the last 6 months. (re-read Carrie thru It in the last 6 months --originally read them about 20 years ago)...I think it was a tangential minor act with a minor character in a much larger story, (definitely not part of the main plot).
After the kid is beaten up by the bully (somebody like Ace Merrill or Buddy Reperton) there's a brief epilogue to this part of the story that involves the young teenager having grown up, and hearing that this girl he had been infatuated with was missing teeth, had put on weight, had had some kids, and was living in a trailer...
Maybe Randy's (the baby) mom in Salem's Lot? She definitely was a looker in high school, but ended up in a bad marriage and a trailer as an "adult."
I remember her from Salem's lot and see the similarities. Randy's mom however was way more of a develeped minor character than this girl. You actually get to be inside Randy's mom's head for a fair number of pages (and as a result, don't feel so bad about what happens to her)
The 'other' girl was a very perifpheral character, and she doesn't get more than a few lines of dialogue. Also, she comes across as more sad than reprehensible (as was the case with Randy's mom)
sigh... I've probably just got a brain tumor and hallucinated it :P
Definitely not Carrie nothing in there had a sub plot with a pool hall. In hearts there was a sub plot that involved a pool hall because his father worked there and he was hanging out there which how he came about with the key flob

I don't think it's Nona since that story is about an unnamed person that was seduced by Nona into murdering people he did not knowThen is arrested and sent to prison and then here's sounds in the wall and is thinking about suicide.
It was part of the flashback back story of the protagonist in Nona. (Flashback happens after he kills the driver that they're hitching with and the guy in the truck that interrupts the body disposal). The pool hall was in castle rock, the older bully was ace Merrill and the gf that made a brief appearance was named Betsy.)
Young teenage boy flirts with girlfriend of much older teen (your basic Buddy Reperton type) in a pool hall over a period of time, which culminates in a kiss, which leads younger teen to be beaten up badly by the older teen after this older teen notices this going on...
Older teen (bully) dumps girlfriend shortly thereafter, and young teen finds out years later she has gone from being a beauty to becoming kind of scraggly (missing teeth and such).
If this sounds familiar, please throw me a bone... I'm dying!!!
