The beginning of the book starts out with the main character, a girl around the age around 16-18, her mother died during childbirth. When the girl and her sister are assisting their mother, the man the girl is supposed to marry leaves with almost all of the rest of their group. The group being almost like a town that travels together like a caravan. After the mother dies, the two girls and their father burry her in the desert before they leave to catch up with the rest of their people. When the main character is out by where her mother is buried, saying her last goodbyes, she encounters a man who is injured. At first she does not trust him, but she ends up bringing him back to where her sister and father are waiting. Before they leave, they help the man's arm, and in the end, he travels with them for a while. That is the beginning of the story and the only part I am positive happened. I believe that when the got to the place where the guy was supposed to split up from the family, the girl ended up going with her. However, she had to leave her sister with another women. And the way it is written, it makes it seem like the child does not live. Then later on in the story, when the two main characters, the boy and girl, go to buy things, the boy has something precious he uses to pay. I cannot remember exactly what it is he carried, I know that it is found down south. Also, the trip to get to this place is very dangerous. The place where this valuable item is found, also happens to be where the guy is from.
That is all I can remember, so i hope it is enough. Please help me figure out what book this is. Thank you so much!
