Shomeret | 1500 comments Well, I won't be entering into any competitions for number of books read this year, and November isn't that much better than recent months. I'll have to read eleven books in December to reach 100 books for the year. But at least I can list all the books I read this month.

1)Chroma: Light Being Human
by Denele Campbell (science fiction)Source: Author Started: Some time in October Finished: 11/1

Why Read: Immortal light beings sounded interesting.

Comments: Well, they were somewhat interesting until they decided to improve primates on Earth through experimentation and they didn't seem to care about the consequences to individuals. I gave it a B-. For my review see shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/2016/11/c...

2)The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict (historical fiction) Source: Net Galley Started: 11/1 Finished: 11/19

Why Read: I wanted to find out about the possibility that Einstein's first wife played a role in his scientific work.

Comments: This is speculation, but historical fiction is allowed to speculate about matters that aren't part of the historical record. No one can say for certain what Mileva, Einstein's first wife, did or didn't contribute. She may have been brilliant or completely unremarkable. We'll probably never know, but I found Marie Benedict's version compelling. I gave it a B+. My review is at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...

3)Witch Hammer by M. J. Trow (historical mystery) 216 pages. Source: Library Started: 11/3 Finished: 11/30

Why Read: This is the third in Trow's mystery series in which the investigator is the Elizabethan playwright, Christopher Marlowe. I liked the first book, but was disappointed in the second.

Comments: As usual I liked the witty dialogue, but the book started annoying me. The most annoying aspect was the introduction of William Shakespeare as a character. I normally love seeing Shakespeare in fiction, but I disliked Trow's portrayal of him. I gave it a B-.

To Be Continued...

Ann (annrumsey) | 17047 comments Shomeret: As long as you enjoy the reading, I think the count doesn't matter; but it is nice to hit a milestone number like 100 in a year. I hope your replacement book journal will work out. I am still sad about the theft of your equilibrium and possessions.
I am looking forward to reading The Other Einstein. The Other Einstein. A tiny inconsequential quibble with the book, the cover art puts me off just a bit and I can't put my finger on why. It isn't offensive, it isn't ugly, it just doesn't seem to fit. If I read the book first before making this comment it would probably make more sense but every time I see the book cover it reminds me. Silly I suppose.
Reading your review I am determined to read it and learn about her life and experiences. Thanks!

This cover says to me that the period is Victorian and that she's facing life in a new city. She did that several times.

Ann (annrumsey) | 17047 comments Shomeret: I can see that impression from the cover, and that it connects to her story. Thanks!! It's just funny a lot of book covers attract me, and it really doesn't matter of course, it is the content of the book.
