History is a tangled string there are no such things as facts and each person adds more knots and tangles to history when they interpret it. History is not meant to be understood.

Again book nailed it. History is story and it is not always able to be understood.

Pip | 1822 comments Exactly, the string motif was used at least twice. There was a quote about history being a duality, but as I listened, rather than read, I cannot look back to find it. But the gist of it was that history is always interpreted through the lens of the interpreter, so it is never completely objective.
