ABANDONED. Novel with similar plot to "Singin' in the Rain"

Hi everyone,

I read a book ages ago and have been looking for it for a while now, but Google just isn't up to the challenge I guess.

I don't remember heaps about the book but here's what I do:
- Fiction
- Equivalent of a "chick flick" book / "Fluff" book
- It's about a female who is a singer in (I believe) the UK
- Somehow, she ends up having to lip sync for another famous singer (kind of a "Singin' in the Rain" thing) live and it's exposed and reporters show up at her door, etc.
- Falls for one of the guys involved in the production
- I THINK Prince Philip, or some other royal member is in the story briefly (liked the singing, or was there, or something).

That's all I've got... any help would be appreciated!

About what year did you read this? A range of years is fine. Author female or male? Remember the cover?

I think I read it in the early 2000's, but no idea when it was published... I think it was a female author.

I don't remember the cover.

I know, it's not a lot to go on, knew it was a long shot...
