Ashley | 14 comments All Our Yesterdays is about time travel and the two main characters, Em and Finn, going back in time to stop the time traveling machine from being built. It's from the point of view of Em and a girl named Marina. Em is from the future and goes back in time to Marina's time. Marina is madly in love with the boy next door who creates the machine, James, while Em is there to kill him as the last way to solve the disaster of the future. Later it's found out that Marina is Em's past self after a few allusions to the idea. " Don't think about him, think about her. Her. Marina.... Marina's the reason I'm doing all of this." (104) Starts the connection between Em and Marina with Em showing that she at least knows her and cares for her. On page 205, after Em fires the gun at James, she goes into a flashback from when her and Marina's timeline are the same, with James helping her after she crashes her bike as a kid. ""I'm James,"he says. "I'm Marina,"I say."" reveals fully that they are the same person in different time periods. It's fully solidified on page 114 when Marina is being questioned after she says she saw the shooters from the building, Marina states ""They looked just like"-I turned to Finn- "the two of us." I find this to be a key element because it explains how the original main characters know so much about the past and so much about James and how to solve the problem.

Alex Motsinger | 12 comments At what point did Marina become Em? I think Em and Finn would eventually meet up with their past selves

Ashley | 14 comments Marina and Em are the same person, Em is just Marina in the future. Em is changing the past though, so they have the same past until Em shoots at James. Then they have different time lines

Hailey | 6 comments That sounds fascinating! Is it confusing how the time changes? I don't know if I could keep up with all that.

Ashley | 14 comments In the book it tells you which point of view it's in but it gets confusing when Em is talking about Marina but then switches to using I instead of her.
