Greg | 1680 comments I aimed for 30 and reached that target only to discover that GR librarians had removed one of the ebooks I'd read from the database on the basis that it was a short story in a magazine (see message 38 above, #8). :/ I'd say a lot of people's read counts were affected by the implementation of this policy. All the same, I understand the reasoning behind removing this and other stories that should not be seen as stand alone ebooks.

I don’t pretend to understand Goodread’s policy on this issue, so will only say that it strikes me as a bit confused and unevenly implemented. Generally speaking, I’ll sometimes rate Goodread’s entries that are, in fact, short stories or novelettes that have been published as ebooks, but I won’t count them as books in the lists I maintain for threads such as this one.

I think Goodreads is trying to establish clearer policies on this, but you may be right in saying that it's better to list short stories published as ebooks only as short stories.
