I have been looking for this book for 45 to 50 yrs. at least.
In the climactic or a climactic scene. ....many people are trapped in an underground facility (maybe military) with a huge wolf creature. The confrontation evolves to a scene where a very large disabled , maybe mentally challenged man...boy..confronts this creature with a large object like a table leg. As the boy,man, swings his weapon with all of his might he can watch the creature heal from each swing. Although he is doing well and has the strength to inflict massive damage, the creature continues to heal . And that is about all I remember.
