Krista | 2 comments NO WAY!!!! There is no set number of words when it comes to series books!! Look at Anne Rice for example! Witching Hour ( Which is SOOOO FANTASTIC!!!) is around 900 to 1,000 pages and then the second one Lasher was only around 400 !! Some books need more description and details to be appreciated. Lord of the Rings and The Walking Dead (which is over 100 comics that all have different page numbers) are a few with great detail and description. I love it the way it is. I love reading in flow. I hate having to wait for the next one!! LOL :) I love the detail and flow of the story. I couldnt put it down and CAN'T WAIT for the next one!!! It rolled like a movie in my mind and it kept me hooked till the end. Just my thoughts!!! Hope it helps!!!

Jonel I always think writing until you've said all you have to say is the best way to finish a book. I find authors who try to stay within a specific word count end up with choppy or drawn out writing. Take Harry Potter for example. No 2 books in that series are too close to the same length. Making them similar lengths would ruin the stories. Tell your story in the page count that you find yourself filling.

Brenda Knight | 2 comments I have to agree with Krista & Jonel. Leave it the way it is. Don't worry about page count. Just tell the story. Splitting up "Scapemaker" would be a disservice. While I was reading "Scapemaker" I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. I love the book just as it is. You did a great job. If it's not broken,(and it definitely is not), do not try to fix it.

Leah (leahahunt) | 3 comments As I still haven't read it yet, I can't honestly comment on the flow of the story, or anything like that, but I tend to agree with what the other people have commented. It is important to tell your story your way. In your time. The right readers won't care about the length of the story, only the telling of the story. Best of luck with whatever you decide :D

Amber (amccalli) I think that Scapemaker is perfect the way it is. I don't think you should change it in the least. The number of words is just not as important as the story itself.

I have found novellas to be just as satisfying as regular novel length books.

Follow your heart no matter what you choose. It won't steer you wrong. :)

Maxine (worthim) I don't think it would work as two books- however I do think a lot could be cut out prior to the point that you are talking about.

Karley (karz) | 1 comments it's perfect how it is :)

Katie Umland | 3 comments I can see it being two books, but I like it better as one. This way the reader doesn't have to wait to get the second half when they totally fall in love with the first half.
