Once Upon A Time and Jasmine

He raised an eyebrow at her mention of human towns. "Human towns?" he asked curiously, "Now that would be a sight to see. Highly impressive if they've managed to make self-sustaining towns without us realizing it, but yes, I doubt they'd let any perfect in."
He fell silent and just looked at her for a moment, unsure of what to say to her. He wanted to assure her that she wouldn't die - he certainly didn't want her to die - but he didn't know how to help her. "Not if I can help it," he finally responded.

"Yeah there's supposed to be one. Maybe they could let me in I do remember everything but then again I control things." She looked down and sighed some. "I'm a freak?" She asked.

"Maybe there really are human towns. I guess we'll find out!" Alec said happily, seeming excited at the idea of it all. "And of course you're not a freak. You're just different. There's nothing wrong with that, Aaliyah."

"But i feel like I am different." She whispered. "That I need to be like everyone else." She said. She looked down some. She took a deep breath. "I'm sorry." She said. "I don't want anyone getting hurt."

He let himself trail off in thought for a moment before coming back. "You are different, very different, but please stop apologizing. You don't control what powers you get when you're changed. If we learn how you can control them then we can prevent anyone from getting hurt. In the meantime, I know how to get you under control," he said simply with a sly grin.

She perked her head up. "And how do you control me?" She asked. She looked up at him. She wanted to know what he was think and why. She was curious. She took a deep breath. "So how do you know how to do this?" She asked. "People will notice im different." She said.

He chuckled at what appeared to be enthusiasm and shook his head. "That one is a secret that you'll find out later. As for control, I don't know how to do that. It'll be trial and error. If you stay calm then the weather won't change, so they won't notice you in that way. As for the control...well that'll just take a lot of will power and teeth gritting until I can come up with something better," Alec said with a slight shrug.

She smiled some. "Why don't you tell me?" She asked. She paused. "I hide my emotions so I guess this is away to let it out without no one seeing how I feel."'she said. Knowing it was raining. She wanted to cry but didn't. "You don't understand. Picture having human brains everywhere and they reach out to you and you grab it. This is what we have here." She said.

He looked at her and smiled. "What we really need to figure out though is how we're going to see about your brother, how we're going to leave before your ability interview, and where on earth we're going to go. No big deal, right?" he asked with a wink.

Her eyes looked up. "Why save my brother when its the best for him. It will make him better. WHy would we leave/" She was curious.

"What do you mean why?" he asked through gritted teeth. He was getting nowhere with this back and forth game and it was almost tempting to just let her be and see what the government would do with her, but he knew that he couldn't do that.
Alec let out a sigh through his teeth, which sounded more like a hiss than anything else, and leaned forward. He hesitated before moving to kiss her again, hoping it would have the same effect that it had last time.

She heard the hiss. It sounded like he didnt want her at all. she should go control something. He then kissed her. She smiled some and melted against him. She snapped out of it.

He hadn't moved back very far from her and didn't feel the need to. As long as she wasn't trying to take over his mind, well he kind of liked her. Not that he would ever admit it to anyone who asked. She was still far too human in her normal state for any perfect to like - or at least, far too human and so the perfects weren't supposed to like her.

She sighed some. "I'm sorry for um doing that." She said. She was sorry for not being a perfect. She was hurt. Why did she even care. He made her in a monster.

He sighed and ran a hand through his brown hair. He looked curiously at Aaliyah, shaking his head and chuckling. "I never should have changed you," he said wistfully.

She got up and walked slowly to the door. "I don't care anymore maybe they could find a use for a freak and a monster like me,"

He quickly stood up as she walked to the door and he grabbed her wrist, gently wrapping his fingers around it. "You're not a freak or a monster," Alec said softly, "Don't say those things about yourself. Please sit back down and we can figure this out. Don't go.."

"Yes I am. I am a perfect that's good enough there." She said. She was over reacting and they started to send the gas out. She froze some. She fall over some. "So tired." She whispered.

He opened his mouth to say more but noticed that she was freezing up. He cursed under his breath, remembering about the gas. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder to steady her and led her back to the couch so that she could sit down. "You're thinking too much," Alec said softly, "Your emotions are getting too out of hand."

She closed her eyes slowly. She was so happy. "I'm so happy. I don't want to get hurt." She whispered.

He watched her close her eyes and traced her jawline with his pinky. "I won't let you get hurt," Alec murmured.

"Are you saying it would work out?" She said. She was curious.

He paused and was torn between laughing and frowning, instead settling for an amused smirk. "I'm sorry to hear that you hate my guys, that's quite upsetting for me." Alec chuckled lightly before answering her final question. "That's exactly what I'm saying."

She smiled and nodded her head. "I hope it would work out." She smiled and opened her eyes. She realized she wasn't a puppet. "You didn't hear me say any those things. I don't like you." She said.

Alec frowned once she came back to him, something glimmering in his grey eyes - was he hurt? "You don't?" he asked impassively, looking almost weary.

He liked her the way she was? She was happy. She smiled some and looked down. She was strong. "I don't need a man." She said.

Alec couldn't help but laugh after a moment, his impassive demeanor now gone. "I never said you needed a man," he said through is laughter, "Hell, if I go out with a girl it's because I like her, not because I think she needs a man." He shook his head, unable to stop himself from laughing.

"I mean I wasn't lying about that." She said. She looked up at him. "Well it's not like you can prove I'm lying?" She paused."what's your ability?" She asked.

"My power?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Wouldn't you like to know." He grinned at her and shook his head, lifting a finger to his lips. "It's a secret."

She looked up at him. "Alec tell me your abilities." She said in a commanding words. She was trying to stay positive and not mess things up. She loved the power and took the rest. She was pleased at herself. She liked controlling things.

"I have two powers," he said bluntly, unable to stop himself. "One that the government knows about and one that the government does not. The one they are aware of is absolute darkness. I can create a force field of absolute darkness."

Deep down she knew what she was doing was wrong. But she loved it. She looked at him some more. It was so much fun to do. She didn't realize why it was wrong.

"Ability mimicry," he said through gritted teeth, unable to stop himself from doing so. "I can mimic the powers of anyone around me."

She was upset. "I'm stupid monster who's a danger to society." She said. "I controlled you and I like it." She couldn't get over the face that she liked doing it. "I wanted to know but I wasn't going to but the mind and I grabbed it and I liked."

He pulled back and looked down at her, frowning. "Please don't start crying, and don't call yourself stupid. As soon as we figure out how to control this you won't be a danger to anyone."

She nodded her head some with the tear in her eyes. She didn't want to cry. "I'm sorry I don't cry I just feel like my life is coming down and falling apart. I couldn't cry when my parents were died I had to stay strong. I never got a chance to sit down and relax and be a kid because I had to grow up and I didn't i just don't know mean any of this. I'm sorry for showing how I feel you." She said
She was shaking some. She backed away from the hug. "I'm sorry I don't need to cry I need to stay away from people and not to fall for people I need to keep strong that's all I know." She said.

"You don't have to apologize," he said softly. "It's okay, I promise. All of this is okay and you're going to be okay. It's okay if you cry and you don't have to apologize for showing me how you feel. We can figure this out. We can figure it all out."
Alec looked almost hurt when she backed away from him but he followed suit, moving back a little bit as well. "You are strong," he said simply, "Crying doesn't change that and neither does falling for anyone. I hope you realize that."

She looked at him and nodded her head some. She looked at him. "I'm sorry about backing away I just don't know what else to do but push everything away but my little brother" she said. She looked at him. She didn't mean. "And if I do cry and want to be held by someone it makes me feel that I'm selfish."
She sighed some. She looked down. "I like you yes but I was taught to always hate perfects and now I'm one sort of but I'm like you there and I want to bawl my eyes and cry like a little kid because I held in forever."

Alec paused for a moment, unsure of how to continue. So she did like him. Did he like her? As ridiculous as it may have been, yes, he did like her. Rather than address everything she said he decided to go with the first thing that came to mind. "So cry."

"My mom and dad died when I was 10 I add to stay strong for my baby brother who was just a baby." She whispered. "I blocked everything out and I didn't want help from no one." She said.

"Of course you had to stay strong for him," Alec murmured, "but in the process you stopped taking care of yourself. You were strong for him, but who was strong for you? You can't block everyone out. Everyone needs help sometimes. Everyone."

She backed away a little. "I'm sorry." She said. " I don't ever know why I told you. You don't like me." She whispered. She wiped the tears away.

He sighed as she backed away from him and apologized again despite the number of times he had told her not to. His brow furrowed in confusion and he looked at her with an unreadable expression. "Who said I don't like you?" he asked, confusion audible in his voice. "If I didn't like you then we wouldn't be sitting here right now. I wouldn't have held you as you cried. If I didn't like you then you'd be dealing with the government right now as they decided what to do about your powers. How on earth did you get the impression that I don't like you?"

She looked down and backed away. She frowned. "It's okay though I was a stupid fool to think that I had a chance to have anything." She said. "Let them find me it's not like I have anyone that would care." She said.
She ran out the door shaken up. She didn't think she deserved to relax.. She curled in a ball in an alley way and started to cry.

He watched - torn - as she backed away, and he didn't want to hear anymore of what she was saying. "You have a chance at everything. Aaliyah, I care!"
Alec let out a groan as she left, quickly getting up and running after her. He was frustrated at the fact that she simply wouldn't listen to what it was he was trying to tell her - he did like her! Who wouldn't? He found her in an alley and slowed to a walk, unsure of what to do. "Aaliyah, please listen," he said softly, sounding almost defeated, "I like you, okay? I really do."

He looked down at her and resisted the urge to raise an eyebrow as she talked on. "You do need to start taking care of yourself," he agreed seriously. He shook his head, the whisper of a smile playing across his lips. "I don't want you to be anything like them," he said softly.
Alec couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at her last statement, his willpower crumbling. "You're used to boys falling for you?"

She was blushing. She looked at him with a smile. she liked him and he liked her. she was so happy. She was amazed about him. "You like me?"She repeated.
She nodded her head. "I guess my brother seemed to be the importance and i needed to take care of him because he is all i have left." She whispered softly. "I will do anything to start."
"Yes always at the camps flirting with me and trying to kiss me and dogging perfects and all that suppose to be impressive."

Alec merely laughed rather than answer her again, nodding his head in response. He would've never guessed that someone as strong as she was would act so girly when confronted by a guy that she liked.
"Your brother is important, so I don't blame you for devoting all of your attention towards him," he replied, looking down at her with a look of understanding in his eyes. "But you're important too."
He pursed his lips at the thought of other guys trying to impress her and shook his head, repressing the urge to roll his eyes. "Sounds foolish."

she just nodded her head again in response.
She knew he was going to roll in his eyes. she was hurting inside. "Well unlike you i thought it was quite romantic because no one could get me to go with anyone" She said. She took looked down.
She felt his mind and closed her eyes. She took his mind with tears down her eyes. "Alec forget everything about me liking you and forget about me." She said. She was crying. She ran away. She let his mind go.
"This is all I need to be different." She sighed. "I don't like the idea of being tested for my abilities to see what I'm suppose to do." She said. "If only the stories of the humans having their on town were true. But I doubt they would let a perfect in."
She sighed some. "I'm going to die aren't i?"
