2017 Personal Challenge

It's time to set your 2017 goal! How many books are you going to challenge yourself to read? Create your own discussion topic and tell us what your goal is. Then, throughout the year, track your progress.

How to create your discussion topic for your challenge:
- Choose how many books you would like to read
- Go to the appropriate folder:

   - 1-50 books
   - 51-100 books
   - 101+ books

- Click "new topic" near the top of the page


- In the "topic" box, write the name of your topic (it should have both your name and the number of books you plan to read)
- In the comment box, write your first post


And you're all set! Post here if you have any questions.

I have attempted for 2 years now to reach a goal of 150 books. I would ultimately like to still try to reach that goal but realistically I plan on dropping my goal to 100 books for 2017.

I wish I had time to read over 100 books. I set my challenge at 50 last year and I'm at 35 right now. If I hit 40 I'll be lucky. I'm going to keep my challenge at 50 as I still think it is a stretch to fit it in with all my family, community and work obligations. You don't get far fast when you are lucky to squeeze in 30 mins of reading a day...But I'll take every minute I can!

You are not a loser! Everyone has what they can do. I don't work, and all my children are in school. Plus, I have a lot of time to read because watching my kids' sports practice is about as fun as watching paint dry. Until about a 2 years ago, if I could read 10 books in a year, I was ecstatic!

No one in this group judges you for how little you read! Instead, we all gawk at those who can read more than 100 books a year, lol. Just enjoy some great books!

I'm going to try 20. Considering books can be either 200 or 700 pages the number is a bit meaningless, but my goal is to squeeze in 100-125 pages in a week - I just haven't been reaching that lately. Time to step it up a little. Good luck to everyone in reaching their own goals.

Well, I'm not going to make my 185 for this year. Too many bad events held me back. I'll try for 160 and eventually get back to 185. Still hoping to hit 240, my ultimate goal. I made 224 one year. That was tough.

I am going to raise my goal for 2017. I have read so much this year that I really don't miss TV. 365 is now the magic number.

I'm going for 30 books. 2016 was an unusual year for me (I've read a whopping 52 books this year; that's a lot for me) as I spent quite a bit of time in airports and hospitals. Nothing passes the time like reading books while waiting.

Just found this group! I'm a writer with my first book being released in January and I neglected my reading this year getting my book ready for publication so this is a great way for me to get back into reading (because you can't be a good writer without being a voracious reader, right :-)?)

I decided to start with committing to 1 book a week so that's 60 books for 2017.

Elizabeth and Barb, are you asking about the Goodreads 2017 challenge widget? That comes from Goodreads themselves and is usually available on January 1st!
