ABANDONED. Wild-ish horse in the Twin Buttes

I read this book in the mid-late 1990s, but it was an old, hardback library book. Tan cover. Children/YA. There's a horse whose name I think starts with "F". He cycles between being wild and living with people on a ranch. The narration follows the horse or is done by the horse. I remember the book felt masculine - perhaps no major female (human) characters.
I distinctly remember that it was set around the Twin Buttes because I thought it was pronounced "butt." Ha!

There was a series of books written by Arthur G Miller about a horse named Fury.Fury, Stallion Of Broken Wheel Ranch is one of them.

Still looking! Fury sounds like a book I would have enjoyed, but I don't think it's the one I'm looking for.
