A wonderful book! I read it years ago, long before joining Goodreads, & had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. It’s both sad & funny, the descriptions of Dorset are fabulous, & I love the way he writes about the people.

Bathsheba Everdene is one of the reasons I keep going back to Hardy. He really does write some fascinating characters.
