I loved the Great Gatsby, I want to reread it atsome points. I find the time period so interesting, even though the characters from the Gilded Age novels can be annoying in a way.I also really liked the film adaptation with DiCaprio.
I agree, Camille, some of the characters are annoying. But I loved it too. Fitzgerald writes so well, the book is a pleasure to read.
I enjoyed reading The Great Gatsby earlier this month. Daisy was a real piece of work. I felt sorry for Gatsby. As long as this book has been around, I never new how it ended. So that was a surprise. The library carries 2 different DVDs of The Great Gatsby. One is with DiCaprio. Might watch it sometime.
Inread Fitzgerald had 122 rejections for his short stories, I was really surprised as his writing is great!!
I haven't read Tender in the Night yet but I would like to. So far, I've read Gatsby obviously, This Side of Paradise, The Beautiful and Damned (I believe this one is very autobiographical) and also his short story The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I've liked them all. I also love Save Me the Waltz by his wife Zelda.
My local library has Tender is the Night, This Side of Paradise and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. So lots of choices for my next Fitzgerald story.
