Wend (wends) | 99 comments Read - I loved reading Beryl Bainbridge in my teens. A truly wonderful author and I agree a great book. I would love to read again.

I have just finished this book and didn't know what to make of it. On the whole, I found it very sad and not funny at all. I generally don't like this type of "comedy". The ending was a real surprise.
