I finally finished this, too. Like you, I really liked this book. I'd heard many people say this one is boring and nothing happens in it but I disagree with that. As you both pointed out, there was a lot of build up but I never found that boring. Also the book ended up with enough cliffhangers to make me want to continue the series. Also, even though I knew what happens in the tv series, there were still surprises and and obviously a lot more detail in this book.

Jon (view spoiler)[ ended up in an interesting situation. It'll be great to see how things develop for him and whether the direction is similar to the one the tv-show has taken. As for Sansa and Arya..Sansa's sadly still a captive in King's landing but at least things look a little better for her. I loved how she encouraged everyone during the battle. That was surprisingly mature of her. I'm glad Arya escaped. She could end up anywhere now. (hide spoiler)]
