A book that I'm coming to love and you might want to try is Castles, Customs, and Kings: True Tales by English Historical Fiction Authors.Approximately fifty authors got together and made a book with little bits of information they'd discovered while researching their novels. It's got all sorta of tidbits of information of English history starting in 55 B.C. all the way to 2013. It's got entries on dances, clothes, recipes, etc. I haven't read through the entire book yet, but even so I highly recommend it!
I hope this helps, and good luck with your search! :)
These aren't the years you wanted, but if you put them in Amazon maybe it would recommend similar books for the years you want. The basis of both books is to make you feel like you are there in that time period, so they go into a lot of little details about a whole range of subjects (what people ate, what they wore, what their houses were like, how they traveled, etc. - they often provide descriptions by class so you get a good feel for a variety of people). The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England: A Handbook for Visitors to the Fourteenth Century
The Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan EnglandThe Time Traveller's Guide to Elizabethan England
Dr. Johnson's London: Coffee-Houses and Climbing Boys, Medicine, Toothpaste and Gin, Poverty and Press-Gangs, Freakshows and Female Education, or Victorian London: The Tale of a City 1840-1870, both by Liza Picard.
I'm halfway through the Time Traveler's guide but thanks! All the books recommended are what I'm looking for :)
Picard has two others about London: Elizabeth's London: Everyday Life in Elizabethan London and Restoration London: Everyday Life in the 1660s.

A wonderful book and I don't believe any of her equally wonderful novels , many of which are about European royalty have been discussed on this site. We have a thriving board for her though !
