The story opens with Cornell Stamoran, the former accountant now homeless, in the path of the arsonist. Did you wonder in that moment if the murderer and the arsonist were the same person? Was it an effective opening?

I thought the opening for this book was very good. At the time I did think that the murderer and arsonist were the same person.

[Jonetta]

So did I on both counts. I plugged into the story immediately.

[Lauren]

So did I. I also thought that the burned out body inside the building was Cornell. I'm glad it turned out to be someone else because I liked his character - very resourceful using the tunnels.

I was rooting for him.
