SOLVED. Vampire series from within the last 10 years or so. [s]

I remember the writer describing they would smell something pleasant like mint or cinnamon. I know i've read a few of the books but it is hard to remember. I recall some of the plot on 2 of the books very sure they are not the beginning of the series. On one the book starts off in France. *spoilers ahead* the h is a vampire but the H doesn't realize it at first, he is also a vampire and the fact that she is able to blend in and appear still human is pretty increadible. She was made a vampire when her family was attacked either in Ireland or England... pretty sure it was in UK somewhere. Her family dies and she runs off before the vamp that made her comes back to get her. The H brings her back to UK and they go to where the family was killed. I don't really recall much of the plot after that and I may be mixing this with another book but I think I remember a powerful vampire (possibly their king) was being fed cat's blood (possibly by the vamp that made the h a vamp) and had taken some cat like characteristics I believe another charcter from a previous book was brought in to try and help him. The second book I remember in the series starts off in Chicago. I think the h is very rich and lives in an estate. The H is her new neighbor or had had the mansion/estate for a while but had not lived there in a long while. There is a big party towards the beginning of the book but can't recall if either of them throws or it is someone else but they both attend. They end up running away (I think because someone is trying to kill her) to Louisiana. This one is a little harder to remember I do recall the H had a frenchlike name.
