30.9 - Catherine T's Task: Construction Wonders

I have spent the last 6 months looking out of my office window onto a construction site, watching in fascination at all the work going into digging a large hole in the middle of tourist London. The machines, the logistics, and it still takes forever to make progress - I can only imagine the effort required to build the Ancient Wonders!

Read two books, one from each of the following options. One of the books must be new to you, the other a re-read. In your completed task post, you must indicate which book is new and which is a re-read.

No books with the genre childrens or kids may be used for this task - this is NOT child's play!

So, in honour of the construction process:

1. Read a book where at least 7 of the letters in CONSTRUCTION can be found in the title/subtitle. You do not need to find 7 different letters - that is, your title/subtitle will work for "7 letters" if it contains C, O, N, T twice, since those letters appear twice in the word CONSTRUCTION.

CONSTRUCTION:
2 C
2 O
2 N
1 S
2 T
1 R
1 U
1 I

Examples:
1. Bait and Switch: The (Futile) Pursuit of the American Dream -
2 C
1 O
2 N
2 T
2. The Post-American World -
1 C
2 O
1 N
2 T
1 R
3. Revolutionary Road -
2 O
1 N
1 T
1 R
1 U
1 I

REQUIRED: In your completed task post, indicate the letters used and their number, as in the examples above.

2. Read a non-fiction book with the main page genre engineering or history.

I'm not going to note acceptable options for book 1, that being obvious and (with an inevitable exception, I'm sure) immutable. If you can find 7 letters in the title and subtitle it'll be ok.

Book 2: History & Non-fiction MPG
Brunelleschi's Dome How a Renaissance Genius Reinvented Architecture by Ross King Longitude The True Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time by Dava Sobel The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot Secret Service Dogs The Heroes Who Protect the President of the United States by Maria Goodavage

Book 2: Engineering & Non-fiction MPG

This thread is now open.

Please use the format in the example listing the letters and the occurrences. It is a little easier to see if they are listed in the word construction order, but you may list them in title order. You may end the list with the 7th occurrence and need not list every letter that appears.

Just to clarify ... you want us to list the letters in order as they would appear in CONSTRUCTION ... vs in order as they appear in the title.

Jonquil | 1059 comments How funny that you call it "tourist London." In Nashville ( aka Music City, USA), we can identify the tourists because they're the only ones wearing cowboy boots and cowboy hats.
