11. How would you rate this book, how many stars would you give it and why?

Pam | 218 comments 4.5 star from me. I loved this book! I had to treat it like a college course, tho. Lots and lots of detail but the subject matter for me was worth the extra effort.

Angela (angeladecker814) | 104 comments To simply be a story about a map thief, probably 3, because those bits were basically the first and last quarters of the book. To be a recounting of the entire circumstances and culture so that readers could fully understand the story, probably a 5 for the exhaustive attention to detail and history.

I compared it to Les Miserables (which I haven't read through): the map history stuff was like the French history chapters. Read them if you want the full experience and to really understand the situations, culture, etc. surrounding the story, but you'll still get the basic plot if you skip them.

I would give this book 4.5 stars. The research is beyond amazing. I loved the book too. I'd be a home reading and studying it and I would shout out to my husband about what I was listening to or reading. Most of it was so hard to believe that I had to share with someone. We had some pretty interesting discussions. Highly recommend.

Ayse_ (ashlie_k) 5 stars for being full of information, carefully researched..
3.5 stars for easiness of reading
3.5 stars for plot

M.E. Hembroff (mhembroff) | 93 comments I would rate it four stars mainly because of the research that went into the book and how well it was written.
I stand alone here but I found the book boring. I had a hard time reading it but tried to stick with it. It isn't an area of history that interests me.

Ayse_ (ashlie_k) M.E. you are not alone...I found it hard to finish also..

Chelsea | 562 comments I gave it 3 stars - I liked it, but also found it hard to read. The details were hard to wade through, but I felt they were needed for the book. That didn't mean I loved reading through them though. I felt like it was like a David McCullough - read it was mild torture, but by the end I was glad I read it.

Chelsea | 562 comments Random... but this article totally made me think of this book! Same issues! It's still going on today!
