10. What things do you like to collect? What would you collect if you had the money?

Pam | 218 comments I am a minimalist when it comes to 'stuff'. I do not like clutter - however I do collect Nativity sets. Some I've made, others have been gifts and have special meaning. I might splurge on a Nativity set or two. I've actually asked my daughter, who is serving a mission for our church, to get me a Nativity from Argentina. :-)

Darlene I do not really collect anything. I like to be somewhat of a minimalist, so I tend to donate items when I get more than what I think I need. I mean, how many pairs of shoes can a person really use??? Like Pam, I do not like clutter. I do have a pandora bracelet and enjoying "collecting" charms on it.

Ayse_ (ashlie_k) Just like Darlene, rather than collecting, I give away more these days. The higher the value of something, the harder it is to share but how do you fully enjoy it without sharing? Besides, I feel that anything that turns into material form almost certainly loses an aspect, a quality of it in the process.. if at one time in my lifespan, someone can come up with a virtual device that I can collect memories, experiences, wonderful moments in life, thats what I'd like to collect...

Angela (angeladecker814) | 104 comments I also try to avoid clutter, so I try to keep my collecting within certain categories. For example, I collect rubber ducks (no stuffed or ceramic ducks, just bath toys). They go on an otherwise blank wall in my bathroom. I have well over 200. I also collect stuffed penguins, but I've given away all but the ones I like most. These are budget-friendly, though. A fancy option would probably be nice Nativity sets, nerdy trinkets for various shows or games my husband and I like, or globes. Since moving in to our house I've suddenly had a thing for maps, oddly enough. Cheap ones in the right color scheme for the room.

I'm trying to develop new hobbies. In doing so, I find myself getting the supplies one needs. I'm not like a lot of you, but I have tied many many quilts, but I just machine piece my first three quilts and have sent them off to be quilted. I don't even know what I'll do with them when I get them back. I also like rubber stamping. I like to make cards and send them. Brings a lot of joy. I don't over spend. I'm kind of cheap that way!!!

Chelsea | 562 comments I collected plastic bugs as a kid. Now I collect bookmarks ( free at the library... yay!), lip balm (over 400 different flavors, and I use them and keep my dead ones), stickers, and scratch paper I guess (but I use it and then recycle it). I have a hard time throwing things out, so my husband says I collect everything (shirts, little shampoo bottles, toilet paper tubes, old magazines, books I want to read, and others I won't mention... ha ha!)

If I had the money I'd collect Jamberry nail wraps because I'm a little addicted to those. I know someone who has 400 different kinds... that would be me!

Cindy | 522 comments I've never been a collector except for books! And even those I don't really collect because as soon as I read a book I get rid of it. I would guess I have at least 700 books I haven't read. When I'm in a used bookstore or thrift store I'll buy almost anything that looks interesting. It's a pretty cheap hobby. I am trying to cut back on my buying just for the lack of room. I still buy lots of audio books and the books for my book clubs.

Ayse_ (ashlie_k) Cindy e-books made it so easy for me. Before that, my library kept getting bigger and bigger, and when moving, Oh boy! But now i can carry all that and thousands more in an ipad, really wonderful..

M.E. Hembroff (mhembroff) | 93 comments I have several small collections that include dolls. This started with the dolls my younger sister and I had as kids. At this stage in my life, I do try to get rid of items I don't want to display anymore or rotate the ones I have. My bookshelves are jammed full of books but the ones I treasure and collect are the old classics like LM Montgomery and other authors that I grew up reading. I wouldn't say my home is clutter free because I have several small collections of different thing that include Blue Mountain pottery.

Ruth (ruthiereads) I like to collect several things, but I try to keep the collections within reason--books, music, holiday decorations, American Girl dolls and the clothes I make them. I collected stamps as a child and teenager. I think I still would except it takes a lot of time. If I had the money I could see myself buying some nice art pieces, but I would be okay with good reproductions, i wouldn't need to have the originals.

Chelsea | 562 comments Cindy, I'm the same way with books! When I worked at the library in high school we got first pick from the donations, and I always took ones that looked interesting. I had SOOO many books. Brian's made me get rid of a lot, or force me to read them faster so we can get rid of them.
