So promising that everyone seems to really like it! I've just started reading Code Name Verity. Interesting how Elizabeth Wein decided to lay it out, like a diary entry but written under duress.
I'm really enjoying it, but life keeps getting in the way of my reading time and I'm only a little over half way through

I had to keep wiping tears, in PUBLIC! I had my head down trying to hide. :(

Glad I can't read tge spoilers on my phone. Not half way through yet and wondering what you guys are talking about. I am liking it more now that I'm getting into it.

I just finished the audiobook, too. Really powerful stuff. *sniff* Everyone needs to read this one! I'm really interested in reading the companion novel Rose Under Fire!
Same here, Lauren. I read the first few pages of the sample in the ebook and it looked really interesting!
It seems like in most books these days love is portrayed as a romance, less often a relationship between a parent and child, and rarest of all the love between friends. That's what made this book so poignant, as it's a kind of deep connection between friends that doesn't often get explored. Is it that the bonds of friendship aren't as strong in these modern times? Or is this simply another testament to how life was lived by the Greatest Generation? With bravery and dignity and sacrifice? All I know is that as a former teacher this should be part of a reading list for History or English class.
All I know is that I wept as if my heart had broken.
I finished my audio reread...just as heart breaking the second time around!

Yep, I was the same. The second half was a lot more interesting to me than the first. And the ending was pretty amazing!
