Shared reading- A question for the group

That sounds interesting Patti. I'm hoping to finish my current book today or tomorrow so I could partake in this.
This is what we used to do with books chosen by the Oak Tree. We had a spoiler thread for two weeks then open discussion. Hardly anyone joined in. :(
I'm still in recovery ;~)For me it's all a matter of spare time. If I have any, I'll join in, if not...
I tend to read what I want to read, when I want to read it, so I don't particularly like to get involved in threads like that. That's not to say it isn't a great idea...

Me too, sometimes I will start a book, and then abandon it until a later date, when it feels like a better time to read that particular book.
I did join in a "buddy read" in another group - they were discussing starting the third book in a series, and I had the first four books in an omnibus edition. So I read the first two and then checked back with them, and they were still discussing starting the third book. So I read the third, fourth and fifth books in the series and never bothered going back to see if they had ever started reading.
So - would I join in with a similar thing with this group? Probably not. Sorry Patti :(

Whoops. Read right past your post, sorry.
I think the trick is finding someone who is as interested in the same book as you AT THE SAME TIME.
Oops. Shouting. Sorry.

Plus I do read rather quickly - I will probably finish at least three more books over this bank holiday weekend, as well as do some jigsaws, walk the dog, and possibly go shopping with mum tomorrow (kitchen curtains for me, t-shirts for her).

I think it would be OK to post a 'I'm going to read this, anyone want to join in?' kind of post and see if you get a couple or three others, but I think mass participation is unlikely. The group reads aren't exactly oversubscribed. I also struggle with free time for reading and moderators demanding I spend every second tied to a keyboard.
David wrote: "S'okay, I'm used to being ignored; I live in a house full of women."funny you should say that, been there, done that, discovered how amazingly liberating it is to be able to say anything you like secure in the knowledge nobody is listening :-)
Darren wrote: "I also struggle with free time for reading and moderators demanding I spend every second tied to a keyboard..."Only tied, you should be so lucky!
Rest of us got chains :-(

Done this with Emma a few times and love it also. I think it generally works better just as personal thing between friends that know how each other read.

If you can have a nekkid chef you can have a nekkid reading group - but it's so cold here at the moment that, as the man said, you can include me out! ;)

But it was so nice to really discuss a book! David said he felt as though he was back in school. ;)
So I'm wondering if people would be interested in sharing reading in the group?
My vision is a section called, you guessed it 'Shared Reading', where a couple or a few people could get together and read a book together, discussing it as they go along. Of course the threads would be full of spoilers so would have to be avoided by people who don't want spoilers.
We would need a separate thread for each book, of course. The thread title would be the book title and the names of those reading it. Or it could be just the book title, I suppose.
So, would you lot be interested? Shall I open the new section?
