It appeared once Emma's paternity was discovered, it would be the key to solving her murder. Was that your supposition or were you thinking the two were unrelated?

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I assumed that her search for her father would be a part of the motive for her murder so I was surprised that it was something else entirely. Poor girl was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I thought for much of the story that her paternity would unlock the mystery. Should have known better given this series.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments ...agreed. I felt the author kept her readers in the dark a lot in this story.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Yes, I also thought that Emma's paternity would be the key.

Kudos to Harris for that final twist.

Mary Beth | 193 comments Yes I thought it had to do with the paternity too. I have never solved any of the mysteries in this series which is good because I dont like a mystery that you can predict but then sometimes I like to be right when I guess it but it then has to be a different motive with a twist!

I also used to prefer mysteries where I could guess the killer, but over the years I've come to realize how predictable those stories are. Now I prefer the ones that keep me guessing and even surprise me at the end.

I'm getting there.

Mary Beth | 193 comments Yes I do love a good surprise at the end. I always love a good twist!

Joanna | 139 comments Yes, I thought it might have something to do with it.

Jasmine | 40 comments I kept getting caught up in the paternity mystery, and would then remind myself of Hannibal Pierce's death and think, wait, is that just going to be because he saw something he shouldn't have, or are the political machinations going to turn out to be important.
