As mentioned in the subject, a man from pre-industrial era england goes through a portal in his house and helps a primitive human race defeat some creatures. I believe it

I don't remember anymore specifics other than it's a parrellel earth, there are some creatures and he ends up taking some muskets back with him from our earth the help out.

I believe at some point he sets up a trap where they kill some creatures females using food with ground glass in it.

Any help would be appreciated.
