A book set in the wilderness

I read it a while ago, so I don't remember all of it (actually I think I dnf'ed it - it was a book club read and it was so slow that I just didn't finish it in time for our meeting, at which point I likely gave up). He does go through some of the open country in Australia, but mostly the book is about people he meets, and mostly those people are in towns and cities, so I wouldn't count it for "wilderness."

I read Ancestor, which is a thriller that takes place in remote, wilderness locations.

I'm thinking about doing a book about space instead. I usually lover forest themes, but I've been struggling to find a book. I did read some definitions in dictionaries that while wilderness is usually a terrestrial environment, oceans and space can count as well.

Space can definitely count. I'd count any unpopulated, little explored place where you could get lost and not see other people if they weren't already with you lol

I ended up blasting through What We See in the Stars: An Illustrated Tour of the Night Sky. Several definitions in dictionaries included space, so I felt comfortable. Thanks Tara!
