Karen | 7 comments Begins with ship scientists exploring new world, some biological problems so they go back to safety of ship, ragged woman sneaks on (hiding and listening in at first). Main character has different opinions than priest, who keeps the society's chronicles. I don't remember much about the ship and its culture, maybe not much world-building there. Fun fight scene set in cathedral where villain switches gravity in that room only, so character has to hold on to furniture on what is now ceiling (or wall); I think gravity is switched a couple times.

Maybe read a decade ago. Not sure if author usually writes SF. I found it fun but wanted it to go deeper.
My memories may be wrong, of course!
Thanks, Karen

Karen | 7 comments Darn it :) Didn't think it was that obscure.

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments Hi Karen, It sounds like something I'd like to read! Have you tried these lists?

Karen | 7 comments Thanks, I'll try those. Most of those books are the titles that come up again and again when I was looking, but every list brings me hope!

Karen | 7 comments Yep, you solved it - Ship of Fools by Richard Paul Russo The things that stuck most in my mind weren't mentioned much by most reviewers, and it was violence, not illness, that killed the people on the new world they discovered. Now to figure out how to close this post.

You don't need to do anything. A mod has already moved it to the Solved section. Please don't delete your original post. It doesn't remove the entire thread, it just leaves an odd looking, headless thread. The thread also helps anyone doing a search for the book.
