Raye (dramachick) I'm interested in how books are classified. The book above is filled with graphic sex scenes (which were great) that seem to well exceed anyone's definition of Young Adult, yet that is how the book is classified. (And voted on in the end of year voting.) I'm actually voting against it, because I don't want young teens thinking this is a regular YA book. The protagonists are also over 18. Appreciate any input you could offer me.

Dee (austhokie) | 897 comments Books are classified based on users shelves but YA can encompass anything from 12-20 (although you are seeing 18-22 being more in the new adult genre nowadays)...the book itself is categorized as YA at my library and in bookstores

Raye (dramachick) Yes, I know some libraries have moved it due to content. I'd highly vote for it being New Adult. Thanks for the input. Sounds like I should take it up with the author! ;-)
