have Ron for a friend? OR have Hermione for a friend?
I think I would rather have Hermione as a friend. As loyal as Ron is and as much fun as he seems, I think Hermione and I would have way more in common.

fight the Basilisk? OR fight a Dementor?
This is a tough one for me. I am not a fan of snakes (at all), but I think Dementors would be really rough for me as well. Since I HAVE to choose, I would probably fight the Basilisk.

spend a weekend with Dudley Dursley? OR spend a weekend with Kreacher the house elf?
I think I would rather spend the weekend with Dudley Dursley. If I recall, he tended to get bored at certain points and would eventually leave Harry alone.

be a Quidditch Keeper? OR be a Quidditch Beater?
I could not be a Beater. I have really poor hand-eye coordination so that would just be epically bad. lol I think I'd do okay as a Keeper though.

be sorted into Ravenclaw? OR be sorted into Hufflepuff?
I would love to be in Ravenclaw. I love learning and logic and all that so I feel like I would be right at home there.

have an Invisibility Cloak? OR have a Time-Turner?
I think I would rather have an Invisibility Cloak. I think I'd be too scared to mess with time since there are so many ways that could go wrong.

receive a Howler in front of your friends? OR eat a vomit flavored Every Flavored Bean?
I would much rather eat a vomit flavored Every Flavored Bean. I embarrass easy so the Howler would be completely petrifying. At least with the bean, it could be over quickly.

attend the Yule Ball? OR attend the Quidditch World Cup?
I would love to go to the Quidditch World Cup. Sporting events aren't exactly my thing, but they are definitely more so my thing than dancing!

spend an afternoon in the Burrow with the Weasley's? OR spend an afternoon in Diagon Alley?
Hands down I would go to the Burrow. Their family is just so close and fun and awesome and I think it would be just a blast.

have Severus Snape as your father? OR have Dolores Umbridge as your mother?
I think I would rather have Snape as my dad. He seems to have more moments of understanding compared to Dolores so I think it would be less... problematic?

have a pet Hippogriff? OR have a pet Phoenix?
Uhm... I so want a Phoenix. I'm a bit of a klutz so to have a pet with healing tears? Sign me up!

take a class in Potions? OR take a class in caring for magical creatures?
I think I would do better in Potions. I have the view of Potions being very similar to baking, which I absolutely adore.

having a flying broomstick? OR have an enchanted flying car?
I'd take the car over a broomstick any day. As I've mentioned, I'm a klutz and I feel like it'd be pretty easy for me to fall off a broom compared to a car being all enclosed and such.

be a werewolf like Remus Lupin? OR be a ghost like Nearly Headless Nick?
I'd rather be werewolf. At least that only affects you a few days a month whereas being a ghost is kind of permanent.

spend a week lost in the Forbidden Forest? OR spend a day in Azkaban?
This is another toughie! I think I'd rather spend a day in Azkaban. I'm horrible in nature and with camping so a whole week in the forest could be pretty rough.

play Quidditch? OR play Wizard's Chess?
I SUCK at chess so I'd rather play Quidditch. I know I'd probably fall off a broom, but I think it would still be more fun than getting beat up by chess pieces.

be a teacher at Hogwarts? OR be an Auror?
I would rather teach. In college, I was planning on being a teacher and it's always been a dream of mine. While I probably won't become an actual teacher, I have taken on many training roles at work. I wouldn't mind catching bad guys though!

have Hagrid as a friend? OR have Dobby as a friend?
I would definitely rather have Hagrid as a friend. He is my favorite character of the series and I just absolutely love him.

change the story so Dumbledore does not get killed? OR change the story so Sirius does not get killed?
This is a rough question. I think I'd change the story so Sirius doesn't die. I feel like it was so unfair to Harry for him to lose him so quick. That death still breaks my heart so I would definitely want that changed.

spend an hour talking with J.K. Rowling? OR spend an hour talking with Daniel Radcliffe?
I would love to talk to both, but for this I would chose J.K. Rowling. She has done so many things that I would love to really pick her brain.

Ria (ban1chka) | 118 comments 1. have Ron for a friend? OR have Hermione for a friend?
I would have to agree with Brianna here. Same choice, same reason.

2. fight the Basilisk? OR fight a Dementor?
I think that all in all Dementors are the scarier opponents because they go after one of the most fundamental human emotions - happiness. But. To fight a Dementor you need a strong mind, whereas to fight a Basilisk you need a strong and quick body and coordination. A couch potato like me would have no chance with a Basilisk, so I'd have to go with the Dementor if I want to survive.

3. spend a weekend with Dudley Dursley? OR spend a weekend with Kreacher the house elf?
If I remember correctly, Dudley was a whiny little sh*t, whereas Kreacher was a real downer and a sarcastic pain in the ass. I think Kreacher would dislike me too much, me being a muggle and all, and wouldn't mind it at all if we interacted as little as possible, while Dudley would just annoy the crap out of me. So Kreacher it is.

4. be a Quidditch Keeper? OR be a Quidditch Beater?
Idk, I'd suck at both, I guess, so I'd prefer to be a beater. At least I get to hit stuff.

5. be sorted into Ravenclaw? OR be sorted into Hufflepuff?
I've always wanted to go to Ravenclaw, and I've always thought that's where I belong, tbh, even though almost all quizzes put me in Gryffindor, which is beyond me.

6. have an Invisibility Cloak? OR have a Time-Turner?
I would kill for a Time-Turner. I cannot stress this enough, but I NEVER HAVE TIME!

7. receive a Howler in front of your friends? OR eat a vomit flavored Every Flavored Bean?
Friends? What friends? Lol I have a few close friends who've seen basically everything, so I wouldn't really care if they saw the Howler. The vomit flavoured bean on the other hand... thanks, but no, thanks.

8. attend the Yule Ball? OR attend the Quidditch World Cup?
Pft. The Quidditch World Cup, of course. I suck at sports, but I like watching them, especially when it comes to world-wide competitions, and especially when it comes to Quidditch.

9. spend an afternoon in the Burrow with the Weasley's? OR spend an afternoon in Diagon Alley?
Hm. I love the Weasleys, but the Burrow would be too crowded for me. Besides, I'd feel like I was intruding all the time and would be really embarrassed. Diagon Alley for me. Ah, the things I would see and do...

10. have Severus Snape as your father? OR have Delores Umbridge as your mother?
Snape, of course, why is this even a question? He's the hero Harry needs, but not the one he deserves... Umbridge is like a colective image of all the people I've ever hated.

11. have a pet Hippogriff? OR have a pet Phoenix?
Hippogriffs are more badass, I think. And easier to pet. And you can fly on one.

12. take a class in Potions? OR take a class in caring for magical creatures?
Potions. Never really thought caring for magical creatures to be a particularly interesting class. I'd still prefer it to any muggle-school subject, though...

13. having a flying broomstick? OR have an enchanted flying car?
Well, the only flying car I know of in the HP universe was Arthur's and he got into a lot of trouble for bewitching it. What's the use of having an enchanted flying car if you can't really use it? I'd have to go with the broomstick.

14. be a werewolf like Remus Lupin? OR be a ghost like Nearly Headless Nick?
Well, I can't agree with you, Brianna, that being a werewolf only affects you for a few days a month. Werewolves aren't the most beloved of creatures and they are generally shunned from the wizarding world. Still, I think immortality would be kind of depressing if you have no way out, so I'd go with werewolf, too.

15. spend a week lost in the Forbidden Forest? OR spend a day in Azkaban?
A whole day with the Dementors? I don't know if I can pull that off. At least in the Forest I could hope for some help from the centaurs or some other not-so-evil creature. Though that kind of contradicts one of my previous answers, I guess being lost isn't necessarily the same as being in mortal danger.

16. play Quidditch? OR play Wizard's Chess?
I used to play chess for my school's team, so yeah... It's an interesting game (and the reason why I got an A in PE :D). I'd love to play against Ron.

17. be a teacher at Hogwarts? OR be an Auror?
My parents always tell me I'd make a great teacher, but to deal with some lazy arrogant assholes (yes, I am a student, no, I do not exclude myself when I say this), uhm, nope. And I think if I were a wizard, being an Auror would be my dream. I guess it's a lot of wizards' dream.

18. have Hagrid as a friend? OR have Dobby as a friend?
Hagrid. Oh, Hagrid. They're both loyal to a fault, but I never really cared that much about Dobby. Sorry.

19. change the story so Dumbledore does not get killed? OR change the story so Sirius does not get killed?
I know a lot of people adore Dumbledore and pretty much worship him, and don't get me wrong, I love him wholeheartedly, but the wizarding world is so much more than Albus Dumbeldore... I've heard a lot of people say (when talking about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) that HP's sequel should've been about Dumbledore and that they were disappointed that it was about Newt. Well, sorry, but I disagree. Dumbledore lived a long life, he saved a lot of people, he changed a lot of things, made some mistakes, fixed some, regretted others... Sirius lived for 36 years, spend 12 of them in Azkaban and had his closest friends think of him as the traitor who caused the death of his best friend. It took him so much to gain back their trust and a few years later - BAM! he dies. He never got his revenge, he never got his happy ending of living with Harry as father and son. He deserves to live.

20. spend an hour talking with J.K. Rowling? OR spend an hour talking with Daniel Radcliffe?
Daniel did an amazing job playing Harry, but Rowling is the mother of this amazing world I grew up with. Were it not for her, there would've been no Harry. There is no competition here.
PS. I would've maybe thought more about it, if I had to choose between Rowling and Emma Watson, or Rowling and Maggie Smith.

I love your answers Ria! You make so many good points about some things that I didn't even think of when I was answering myself. I'm so happy that I'm not alone with the Dumbledore question. I feel like Sirius was so screwed over in the books and it totally broke my heart.
