Dennis | 76 comments In the tradition of Christmas movies like Elf that can be enjoyed by the whole family comes the new book, Back to Christmas. This would be a great book for families to listen to together on car rides!

Twelve-year old Amanda Krumwerth has just two days to save her dysfunctional family from going onto Santa's Permanent Naughty List. Marmel the elf, head of Santa's Department for Labeling People Naughty or Nice, would like nothing better than to see her fail; he's told Amanda there is no hope for her family, and no evidence of love in her family either. Can she prove him wrong? Find out in this delightful story about an unhappy elf, an unpleasant family, and the magic of Christmas.

Please let me know if you are interested in enjoying my story - thanks, and Merry Christmas!

MissSusie | 2423 comments This is a very fun book I have read it in paper and audio but curious whey the change in narrator? Simon is amazing yes, but Ralph Listers narration was really good too.

Dennis | 76 comments Hi Miss Susie, thank you for your kind words about my story! I also thought Ralph did a really good job. But over the last year I wrote a screenplay based on the book (because several reviewers, I think including you, said it would be a great movie). In the process of writing the screenplay I came up with a lot of ideas for improving the book, so I decided to do a re-write and hence needed a new narrator. I asked Simon if he would do it because he always does such a terrific job and also he is one of the most well known narrators.

Yes I was one who mentioned this would make a great movie, so happy to hear there is a screenplay. So this is a bit of a different book than I read before?

Dennis | 76 comments The story arc is the same, but I worked on improving the writing and the dialog, and there are also several scenes that are improved. There's also one important new character who was suggested by my wife. So I think it's more fun now.

If you'd like to give the new version a listen please let me know I'll be happy to send you a code.

Also, since I was rewriting it, I now have illustrations for each chapter heading in the print and Kindle versions, and a new cover, and I'm really pleased with how all that turned out.

SOS | 34 comments Thank you! I've listened to about a third of the book. I'm convinced that this is the next holiday classic, right up there with "Miracle on 34th Street", Rudolph, and Frosty . I can't wait to see how this all turns out. I've been smiling from the first words, the reading of the disclaimer. Simon Vance brings the book to life in three dimensions; I really do feel as if I'm watching a movie. I appreciate you sharing your book with me. I will review as soon as I finish it, which won't take long.

Dennis | 76 comments Hi Jeffrey thanks for your review! I'm glad to hear you like it more than the last one, since I actually put a fair amount of time into the re-write, way more than I expected :)

Dennis

PS if you are interested in having the kindle version as well, which is illustrated, I just put that on sale for 99 cents.
