Vanessa (emberlin) So the Android topic has yet to win in any of the polls. I find the idea of this topic kind of intriguing, and I wondered if anyone had some Android-Human romance books to recommend?

I've been curious about what books have been/will be chosen for the Android Lovin' VF reading list, and I look forward to the day that Felicia finally overrules the vote.

Keidy | 313 comments Seriously! I know I voted both times for Andriods and I was really hoping for the books to be chosen for this month but alas. It is not be. We need some more robot/SciFi love!

Also, I'm still devastated to the cancellation of "Almost Human". I LOVED Dorian... and of course Karl Urban. I can imagine falling in love with an andriod character like Dorian, sweet, gentle and almost human. <3

I've never read an android romance so I was really looking forward to what was recommended. I can imagine it would be really sweet and intellectual. Something maybe along the lines like the movie "Her" or even "Wall-e".

Walle & Eeva Love

Vanessa (emberlin) Aww, Wall-E just makes my heart melt. I don't know how sexy I'd find android/android love, but I'd be willing to give it a shot as well. I still haven't seen "Her" yet; a clear sign that the universe is conspiring against any android/human love in my life.

Michele | 128 comments The only one I know is The Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee and it's YA but beautiful. Unfortunately not available as an ebook that I can find. The sequel is available, but it's nowhere near as good.

Vanessa (emberlin) Oh, bummer. I think all books should be available as e-books by now. I don't feel as guilty about buying them because they don't take up every spare inch of space in my house. I do love physical books too, though. Might have to look into that one. Thanks for the recommendation!

Helen | 83 comments He, She and It by Marge Piercy.

message 7: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (emberlin) Strangely enough, I did find "Metallic Love" on my Nook, but I would definitely want to read the first one before I read that one.

Hannah Marae *sniff* I'll miss Almost Human. :C I can't wait for an android romance. I've voted for it any time it was an option!

Of Butterflies & Books | 41 comments I think people are just hesitant to try Android romance because they think it can only go two ways either the Terminator road or the term "sex-bot" comes to mind and no one I think wants that, but I would be more than willing to give it a chance if I could get some good recommendations or if the Vaginal Fantasy Crew decided to try that in their next book read.

Keidy | 313 comments Okay, so when I said I've never read any android romance... Apparently I lied. Back when I was in my "anime and manga phase" many moons ago, I actually did read and watch a lot of android romance. I can understand the whole "sex-bot" thing but actually, for the majority it was like I thought it would be and as I've mentioned before: sweet and intellectual. Still hoping to read an american novel-type experience though.

When it comes to romance and tech, Japan has that down! ^_^

Of Butterflies & Books | 41 comments That's true I didn't think about that.

PointyEars42 | 476 comments You have all, of course, seen the music vid for Bjork's "All Is Full Of Love"?

Keidy | 313 comments @PointyEars42: Yes, again, many moons ago. Oh Bjork... It was a staple of life to love her in my art school. I never knew about her until that time and now I will never forget her. ^_^;

message 14: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (emberlin) I hadn't seen or thought about that Björk song in a long time. Thanks for the link!

Found this thread from 17 months ago.

and here are a couple of lists.

Many of the books have good ratings, but reading some of the descriptions will make you cringe (or laugh).

I have choices already picked out, worst case scenario I'll choose them on my next month! Sept I think!

Cassandra Stryffe | 33 comments I'm hesitant about the whole android thing. Still a traumatized by Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep.

And then Data and Tasha Yar didn't help either. But if VF ever has an android romance as the monthly pick, I'll try it again.

message 18: by Corrina (new)

Corrina Lawson | 54 comments IIRC, one could classify Kel-Paten of Linnea Sinclair's Games of Command as an android.

message 19: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 26 comments I would totally be interested in Android romance, it's a complicated issue which could make for a really good book.

message 20: by Brittani (new)

Brittani (alwaysplayarogue) | 3 comments I just started reading C.E. Kilgore's work. Her first book, Ghost in the Machine, is currently free on Amazon. It's definitely worth picking up. So far I've only read her one shot based on the same series To Even Have Dreams and it's been one of the better android romances I've read.
