“Do you think you’re fine now?” Janelle asked Rowan after a while of watching him drain bags of blood, sitting up on and elbow. She didn’t mind seeing him drink blood, really, but it sort of did bother her how messy he would get it. Although it was understandable, given all he’d been going through.

Rowan wiped off his mouth and threw the fifth bag in the trash. Now that he knew just how long he'd been asleep it was no longer a surprise why he'd been so ravenous. "Yeah, I'm better," he said, the words embedded in a sigh. His eyes were no longer red, and his fangs willingly shortened. The aching desire to sink them into something had gone away too, which he hadn't noticed had been itching at him until after he'd been denied entry to the hospital.
“You look better…” She said, rubbing her hand over his back in a comforting manner. He still looked tense, though- even if he no longer looked like he’d pounce on whoever looked at him in a way he didn’t like.

He sighed again and looked over to her as his shoulders slumped. They were still tense, but when had he been not tense in months? "I really looked that bad?" he asked, but he knew the answer was yes.
“To others, maybe.” She replied, sitting up on her knees before leaning in to give him a kiss on the lips. “But I don’t fear you.” She added, flashing him a smile.

"That's because I couldn't do anything to you," he said, frowning a little. He knew how dangerous he had been, so her not being a physical being was the only thing that helped her. And he was grateful for it, because he'd needed the help.
“Yet another reason why you and I are perfect together.” She replied, still smiling as she kissed him again. “And for the record, I wouldn’t fear you if I were alive either. I was a pretty dangerous enemy back then…”

"I believe it," he said and a small smile tugged at his lips. Sure he wasn't one hundred percent, but she still made him feel better. Finally, he gave her a kiss back, grateful that he really couldn't hurt her physically.
She didn’t pull away this time, raising a hand to his cheek and pulling him closer to herself. She was wearing something new now- something still like what she had worn when she was still alive- but a little more… modern. Shorter and more refreshing.

He leaned into the kiss, moreso when she pulled him closer. He was feeling energized from all the blood so he didn't feel the drain of kissing her at all. He could just enjoy it. Enjoy instead of worrying about anything else at all.
She kissed him for a while longer before pulling her lips away, grazing them against his cheek. “I told you we’d be able to do much more when you were feeling better…” she told hold, lowering her voice in a way that told him exactly what kind of activities she’d want. It was strange to feel things so strongly now- strange because she hadn’t done so in… a long time.

Rowan put his arm around her back, but was still touching her like she was fragile. As if she would disappear if his touch was too firm, rather than become more solid the more he gave her. But she did feel so solid- more than he expected her to. And for some reason that too made his heart start to race. "Are you sure you...." He didn't know what he was trying to ask. Sure she felt real, but he also knew she wasn't really there, no matter how it seemed. As always, it bothered him, but it was still the truth.
“I can’t promise it’ll be the same way it usually is between two people that are alive…” She said, smiling a bit as she kissed him again. “But I think the effect will be the same. I’d just have to work a little harder, but I don’t mind.”

He kissed her again, not sure what he thought about it. It was probably worth a try... "If you're sure," he said, slipping his hand down her side slowly, still trying to convince himself it was alright to touch her. It made less sense the more he thought about it, so he was trying not to think of it.
Janelle glanced down at his hand as it traced over her body, hoping she’d feel the electricity a touch like his would bring any other girl. She didn’t, though she felt something like that brought up by her imagination. Because dead or not, Rowan was a real pleasure to any girl. Instead of replying, she only shifted to straddle him, moving her hands so that they’d cup his face and pull him close for another deep kiss.

Rowan slid his his hands down to her legs as they kissed, still was too wired oh the blood he'd just consumed to feel any sort of drain from her. If he was ever in a good position to touch her this much it was now, and he was going to take advantage of it
Janelle slowly shifted so that she’d press him down against the bed, moving her hands from his face to the bed so that she’d keep him caged there. She moved her lips down his cheek and to his neck, one hand moving underneath his shirt to touch him all over there when she suddenly heard a knock on the door. “Don’t answer it…” she told him, not caring even if it was his mother. Which was obvious with how she started to lower her kisses and her touching got a little riskier. Ever knocked again, putting her hands back into her pockets as she looked down the hall. She was on a little rush now, honestly- because she was only there for her break to make sure Rowan was fine.

"If it's urgent they'd call," Rowan agreed, but it wasn't like he'd checked his phone since he first woke up. It had been too urgent for him to do other things. But he trusted that Janelle would have told him if something important has happened. His breath caught and he felt ridiculous for it but it couldn't be helped. The last thing that was on his mind was his visitor.
Janelle couldn’t help the smile his response brought to her lips, pulling back to lift his shirt so that she’d be able to lower her kisses even further. “Rowan? It’s Everleigh.” Came the voice from the other side of the door, for some reason feeling like it would be a good idea to interrupt whatever it was he was doing. It was just… a gut feeling. “I know you must be exhausted from… all you’ve been doing but I just wanted to make sure you were okay. Archer said you looked bad so I-“ She said, getting ready to go off and ramble on and on.
Janelle turned her head to glare towards the door, her movements still going because she wasn’t able to let anything keep her from Rowan. Especially not an idiot that thought she had even the slightest chance with the guy that was in love with someone else already. Who? He didn’t know, but still. “Get her to leave…” she said, her voice still low as she turned her eyes to look at him instead.

Rowan looked pained, because he didn't want to have to do it. He sighed heavily and got up. He didn't want to tell her to leave through the door, partly because he didn't think she would take it. He made sure he looked as presentable as he could before he opened the door, though he half hid behind it still. "I'm fine, really," he told her and offered a quick smile. "Thanks for checking on me. I just needed a lot of sleep."
“Oh, okay.” She said, giving him a smile when she finally got to see him. He didn’t look as bad as she thought he would- but he also didn’t look nearly as good as he did when he was well fed and rested. “That’s not the only reason I’m here. I know you left before you could get anything about Raelynn’s… condition, so I figured you’d want to know about her process. Oh, and I also brought something for you.” She added, turning her back so that he’d look inside and find some blood bags in there. “These are supposed to hit you better than the ones you can get in the stands.”

Rowan raised his eyebrows, surprised at all that. He was still itching to have her leave and get back to what he'd been doing, but....if she had information.... "Thank you," he said, still seeming surprised, though he took the bag from her. Well that solved his mini fridge problem too. "What about Raelynn?"
“Oh, a few things, really.” She said, nodding her head as she awkwardly rubbed her arm because she… wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to say anything in the hall where any stranger could hear them. “She, um.. she moved a finger, last I heard.”

"That's good," he said. The doctors had said that any movement, however small, was good. The idea of letting Ever into the room, or even step all the way out from behind the door, never occured to him. "Is that all? She's still okay?"
“Well, they’ve been doing the same things they did when you were there.” She replied, shrugging a shoulder as she leaned against the doorframe in an attempt to get a little comfortable. She only leaned away again. “But now that they’re sure the amount of magic in her is lowering, they might start with other kinds of stuff. It’s all… it’s all very hard to see.” She added, looking down as if she were overwhelmed with some kind of strong emotion. Janelle appeared behind Ever in the hall, her jaw clenched as she leaned back against the wall to watch the girl. Not once did she get an indication that this girl cared for her sister- if anything, she seemed perfectly fine to see her immobilized and out of her way.

"She....she's going to be okay," Rowan said, encourageing her as he needed to be encouraged too. Ever had to be just as distressed, if not more so. It was her sister after all. "This is a good sign. She'll be better, awake, soon."
“But we can’t say that for sure.” She replied, looking up at him with a face full of disbelief or something. “It’s just… no one has ever gone through something like this. It a witch or vampire or anything. She’s the only one of my kind that has passed out and been in a state like this one.”

"I know....but we have to keep up hope because otherwise....we'll never be able to deal with it," he pointed out. "She's tough, she can make it through. She's making lots of progress."
“I suppose.” She replied, looking down again. “I can’t help but to get freaked out too, whenever I see her on the bed. It makes me… it makes me think that it could have been me. Even if it’s not possible since I wouldn’t have done whatever it is she did when she was assaulted.”

"Do we even know what she was doing?" he asked, because he couldn't recall hearing that if it were so. Chances were probably good that she was doing something she shouldn't have, but with those creatures it could have been anything that she was doing that she got caught. "But still...it is upsetting, but...keep hope. It's just going to take time. I keep telling myself that the whole time.
“Vanessa said she was gathering stuff to make a spell.” She said, shrugging a shoulder. “I suppose… I am glad she has so many people taking care of her, though. Since I know I wouldn’t have anyone but her if it did happen to me.” She added- this time not lying for pity because she actually did mean it.

Rowan hesitated, but the moment from before was totally gone now so there was no reason to make her leave aside from being mean which he would not do. Nothing more sobering than remembering your ailing friend and trying to comfort her lonely sister. "That...." He sighed and opened the door more. "Why don't you come in?"
“Are you sure?” Ever asked, although she notably perked up at the suggestion. That had been her initial intention, after all- a conversation where they’d get to know about each other a little more. “No.” Janelle said, pushing off the wall and frowning up at Rowan. “You’re supposed to tell her to leave, not invite her in.” She added, annoyed.

Rowan looked over Ever's shoulder to Janelle, looking apologetic. He couldn't just leave her to this. She was upset, and he understood that a lot. He couldn't abandon her. "Yeah, it's fine."
“Rowan…” Janelle replied through clenched teeth, her hand fisting in anger and annoyance. It was a normal reaction, she supposed- although she didn’t realize she was also doing something she shouldn’t have been doing. Something that made Everleigh pause and look in her direction for a brief moment before stepping in. Everleigh couldn’t describe what she had felt, really- couldn’t describe that one moment the space beside her had been empty and the next…. The next moment she had felt a little spark of magic. A tiny, almost nonexistent shimmer before it was gone.

Rowan frowned a little, because it wasn't like he could rescind the offer, and he wouldn't. They'd have more time later.... But what was really weird to him was that Everleigh looked back. Why....? She couldn't have known Janelle was there. Weird. Still, he stepped aside to let her in.
Janelle looked at him for a little longer before she disappeared again, only to appear inside the dorm. No way was she going to give them any privacy.“So, you’ve been feeding well. Good.” Ever said, her eyes turned towards the trash bin where the hints of blood bags could be seen. “Although I still do recommend at least four more bags before you’re back to resting, since not drinking for long periods of time when asleep could cause a bloodlust to form. Even if you’re full, I mean.”

Rowan made a face when she suggested drinking more. "I think I'll wait to process what I've had so far before I drink more. It's a lot." He didn't want to get bloated, and he was feeling on the verge if he was going to drink any more.
“That’s okay too.” She replied, giving him a smile before she slowly sat down on the bed of his.. roommate? Yes, that’s what she could call the guy that she’d never actually seen here before. “Have you eaten regular food?”

"No," he admitted. "I'm glad you're concerned, but...is that really the only reason you're here? Because I'm fine. I feel way better than I did when I woke up and everything."
“I was concerned because you were gone for a week.” She replied, wincing because she might have been laying it too thick. “Which is fine, really… but I got worried. So did Vanessa, Fire and Francisco- since they all thought you’d be a little more… present. But if you tell them about your sleeping situation they could understand it a little better.”

"How did you know I was asleep that whole time?" He asked, not remembering telling her that fact but it was possible he let it slip sometime. He wouldn't be surprised he did that all the time. Sure he td her he just woke, but did she have any idea close to how? "I feel really bad about leaving but...I had no choice."
“Your eyes are puffy and I assumed that if you didn’t see her it was because you were unconscious.” She replied, since that was… the safest answer. “They’ll understand, really. But I think you’ll just have to let them know so that they don’t get worried. They consider you a friend to them too.”

"Oh," he said and just sat himself on his bed. "Yeah, I'll talk to them, but like you said I'm not really settled enough to talk to anyone." He was past the border of hearing her heartbeat begging for him, but he could still tell that he wouldn't be able to handle more than one person. He thought he'd been better off than this...
