If it's as well written as the previous books I think I'll read it within a day or two :-)

Haha Lauren! I know I feel for Herb also.

The FBI - (view spoiler)

Lauren your idea of Alex being a woman ..."
I'm not a fan of his either.

I don't find Herb dull. But how he manages to stay in the police with all his issues, I don't know. His wife sounds tough though.
Maybe Jack should get together with Phin.
Lauren, I didn't think of Alex being a woman, but you may be right!!

Chapter 31
I do not like Holly. (view spoiler)

To your second spoiler I am hoping he is out of the story too.

I am about half way through the second one and have this one already so I will go straight into it when I finish.

That's OK. I had already gotten to Holly's character :0)
Speaking of Holly - I cannot believe that how TSTL Jack is being with her. (view spoiler)

I'm also enjoying it. I really like Konrath's writing style, but I agree that this one is really gruesome and brutal. Perhaps excessively so.

Glad that Latham is [spoilers removed]"
Lauren- I couldn't understand how he could do things like that without collapsing...

My copy has a foreword by the author. He says this is his most brutal. He got many complaints, but he said it led him to branch out into horror.

A high tolerance for pain, I expect. *shudder*

Interesting. I don't mind violence with a purpose. This is just too much even for me and I hope the next one tones it down.

Regarding Lorna - (view spoiler)

Regarding Lorna - [spoilers removed]"
That explains it Lauren! I never knew the author felt that way about the FBI.

I like the fast start and agree it is brutal, but that doesn't bother me.
I had actually read his horror stuff written as Kilborn and they are among my favs in that genre.
Anyway,

I think that is all for now. It is nice starting a new series and loving it, knowing there are lots of books ready to go!

Harry - (view spoiler)
Latham - (view spoiler)
Overall, a great book. Really enjoying the series.

Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels of the Chicago Police Department is back, and once again she's up to her Armani in murder. Someone is sending Jack snuff videos. The victims are people she knows, and they share a common trait -- all were involved in one of Jack's previous cases. With her stalwart partner hospitalized and unable to help, Jack follows a trail of death throughout the Midwest, on a collision course with the smartest and deadliest adversary she's ever known.
During the chase, Jack jeopardizes her career, her love life, and her closest friends. She also comes to a startling realization -- serial killers have families, and blood runs thick.
Rusty Nail features more of the laugh-out-loud humor and crazy characters that saturated Whiskey Sour and Bloody Mary, without sacrificing the nail-biting thrills.
This is Jack Daniels third, and most exciting, adventure yet!
